One of the books that’s like, guaranteed to be in my ‘PLEASE READ BECAUSE YOUR LIFE WILL NEVER BE THE SAME' book list is The book thief. I was a bit apprehensive at first… I mean, death as a narrator?!?! But seriously, death turns out to be a SUPERB narrator. It’s this BRILLIANT story, guys. You end up rooting for all the characters and acting as if your tears actually make a difference to them at the end. You end up shouting ‘COME ON, MAXI-TAXI!’ with Lisel. You end up crying for Mama and Papa. Hell, I ended up shipping Lisel and Max! But really, read this book ASAP.

Even if it’s just to learn the many German swear words…
