Pillar

On the pillar I stand
Poised and ready for flight
Body uptight, muscles wound awry
Tendons stretching, reaching for the sky
Blue overhead, a breeze from
The north of the lake
On the pillar, poised
A crane, a snake, an Egyptian stone
Hardening to granite
Graceful, dove-like
Slender and twisting in beauty
Purely me and purely not
Anything without grace
Anything at all, is scarred
Stretching to the heavens
Otherworldly
Forever still, teetering
Body uptight, muscles relaxed
On the pillar I stand
Then I leap down
Back to Earth
I land
