Today we found out the federal government stopped a plan for a 'militia'/gang to kidnap Governor Whitmer.

And my first response was shock.

Then horror.

Then anger.

Then I thought about how I would react if I were her- I would probably sob into my husband's chest.

But then I stopped.

Governor Whitmer likely gets death threats every day.
And sure, this one is different,
But what does it say about how we treat women politicians?

It says that we have normalized abuse in the name of politics to the point where,
Truthfully,
This might not even have surprised her.

It makes me think about what that means for my roommate,
As she ventures into the world of law and Congress.

Why have we made it ok for women to be forced to take death threats lightly?
How have we created a world where no one is surprised that 6 men were arrested for plotting to kidnap Whitmer and overthrow the state government?

What can we do to change it?
