Chapter 18
"You are going to help me to clean all this up." I glare at Lina then look around the mess she has created, around the shop, while muttering curses under my breath.
"It is your punishment for throwing me in the water," she says while wringing the corner of her shirt in the middle of my shop, after reading her reply on my watch I clench my eyes shut trying to not shout at her.
Running the hand in my hair in utter frustration, I frown as my eyes land on the water and sand on the faux wood flooring of my shop.
This is a mess!
"What the hell, Lina!" I yell when she sits in the middle of the floor and removing her sandals she taps them together to remove the sand from her soles.
"Sorry." She mouths while smiling sweetly, looking not even the slightest apologetic.
I let out a string of curses when I slipped on the water and land hard on the floor.
Grimacing I sit on the floor, as the side of my arm aches with the impact. However, when my eyes meet Lina's after staring for a moment we both start laughing.
She stands up and gives her hand to me trying to help me up. But as soon as I grip her hand and tug at it making her fall.
But my eyes widen when she is about to fall straight on her face. Quickly, holding her waist I try to save her but she falls on me and again my arm takes the impact of the fall.
Well, karma bites you back in the ass, but in my case, it is my arm.
She is about to shout at me, but then her lips curve into a taunting smile as she looks at me as I hold my arm.
"Serves. you. right." She pronounces each word slowly, and then she slaps my cheek not hardly, but still, it is hard enough to feel the slap.
She sighs as her eyes roam around the shop as if looking for something.
"What's wrong?" I tap her forehead with my finger, momentarily, enjoying the annoyance on her face.
"Look at my clothes." She signs as she shakes her head while looking around as if someone is hearing us.
"What happened to your clothes?" I frown.
"Jason..." she shakes her head and exasperates, "I am dripping wet."
"Okay..." I drawl out the word and slowly arch an eyebrow as a smirk appears on my face.
It takes a moment for her to realize the unsubtle double entendre of her words which, should I say, she very nicely signed it to me.
Covering her mouth with her hand, her expression turns horrified as she looks at me. Rolling my lips inside my mouth, I attempt to stop myself from laughing.
She shakes her head and her cheeks turn red in embarrassment. While I am sure even my face must be turning red from holding in my laughter.
But I can't stop my laughter any longer as I burst out laughing while looking at her face.
"I do not even mean in that way, you jerk." She clenches her jaws looking completely embarrassed and annoyed.
My vision blurs from the tears, blinking I clear my eyes as I read the words.
"Did I say anything?" Raising my hands in surrender I continue to laugh much to her dismay.
"No, but your face says it all." She exhales a sharp breath through her nose, "You are such a guy!"
"Well, I am not just such a guy." My lips turn into a half teasing smile, thoroughly enjoying her embarrassment, "I am a guy in all ways."
She shoves me away as walks in another direction while mumbling something.
Shaking my head at her, I go to the back of the shop where I have made a small break room, which is mostly occupied by Nick, to look for some clean clothes she can change into.
After sniffing and nearly gagging at the smell which is coming from Nick's clothes I manage to find a clean shirt that belongs to me or Caleb I do not remember properly.
Honestly, he steals almost all of my shirts and wears them in front of me as if he owns them. He is nearly as tall as me, and I feel in a year or two he will cross me.
I don't know what mom has been feeding him.
Picking up another clean shirt and cargo shorts I change into them. As I hastily attempt to dry my hair with my hand.
Walking out to the main area, I watch Lina standing in front of the table fan while trying to dry her clothes.
"Here, wear this." I push the shirt into her hand.
"It is clean." I roll my eyes at her when she hesitantly takes the shirt from my hand and sniffs.
She gives me a sheepish smile and shrug.
"You can go back in there and change." I point to the door which leads to the break room.
She walks out wearing the shirt which looks more like a dress on her while her clothes are rolled in her hands. I stop my mind from thinking if her jeans shorts are in her hand then what she is wearing beneath that shirt.
"Jason, I am hungry is there any place we can go?" she asks.
"Yes, there is a small cafe that might be open at this hour." I nod my head.
As I lead her outside the shop, after locking the shop we start walking towards the cafe. Subtly, I take a step back and quickly assess her shirt to make sure it is not revealing.
But thankfully, the shirt is long enough to cover her properly because other than that there is no way I would have let her walked out of here.

"Where this all food go?" Arching an eyebrow, I tease her.
She has inhaled two burgers and even now she is not done eating yet.
"Stop eyeing my food." She playfully glares at me as she continues eating fries, "Try crying for an entire day then you will realize how much hungry you feel after all this crying."
The image of her crying all day clenches my heart painfully. The thought she was alone with her pain, sends a new wave of pain through my heart.
"Your boyfriend would go bankrupt just by feeding you." I forcefully laugh as I tease her but stop noticing her pained expression.
Masking her pain she smiles but it does not reach her eyes.
"Hey, do not worry, if he could not feed you then I will always feed you." Raising my eyebrows, I pick up two fries and bring it near her mouth, trying to crack another joke.
Shaking her head slightly as if clearing her thoughts she gives an uneasy smile. After a moment she takes fries from my hand then chews them slowly still looking in deep thoughts.
However, after mentioning her boyfriend, I notice the dullness in her eyes. Maybe her sadness has something to with him.
A feeling of jealousy flares inside me when I think about her boyfriend. It is stupid but thinking about someone else in her life brings a bitter taste to my mouth.
I realize she still in some deep thought and I do not like the troubled look on her face.
Suddenly, my bracelet and watch start to vibrate making me look around only to find two guys sitting on the nearby table talking to each other, I assume, loudly.
Groaning, I put my head on the table as this is something with which I have to constantly deal with. These devices vibrate when they receive any sound waves.
Light tapping on my arm, makes me raise my head as Lina arches her eyebrow questioningly at me.
"These devices catch every sound." I sigh, which makes her look at me in confusion.
"So, what's the problem?"
"The problem is they catch every single freaking sound," I speak slowly and nod my head, "Even farts sound."
She slightly frowns then a moment later an amused smile tilts the corner of her lips.
"Caleb is having a blast because of these." I nod my head at my watch, "He fucking comes and farts wherever I am." I scrunch up my nose in disgust recalling the horrid smell of poisonous gas he diffuses in the air.
But my frown disappears when I see her laughing, and this time these devices vibrate because of her laugh.
"You look beautiful when you laugh." I softly smile at her, my words hold nothing but the truth.
When she laughs it looks like she is laughing from inside and her whole face brightens up.
"Are you flirting with me?" She arches her eyebrows, then raises her hand to sign but I quickly hold her hand in mine and shake my head.
I am able to read her lips even better than before. Not just her lips but even her body language and facial expression which comes really handy when you are trying to lip-read someone as when you are not able to understand the actual words you have to interpret through their body language.
However, when it comes to Lina apart from all these things I am now able to read her like an open book.
"I am not flirting with you, I am just telling you the truth." I squeeze her hands, as another stunning smile dances on her lips as her cheeks warm up.
There is another thing which my heart telling me, however, I am not ready to accept it yet.
