Chapter 4
Despite Namjoon telling Bee not to avoid them, she doesn't visit them once after that day. Everyone has been pretty busy this week and fortunately Bee has been occupying herself with her work. The week is nearly over however, and she misses the rest of the boys a lot.
Nearly everyone has messaged her, asking her how she has been doing and how they have been missing her a lot lately. Jin and Yoongi surprisingly had asked her out a few times and offered their comfort, but she had to decline only because she had work to do. It was only until today that she finally got some time off and Namjoon had asked her out for lunch.
Bee takes a glance at her watch and notices that Namjoon is oddly late today. Just as she was about to message him, a message from Namjoon comes in.
10:47 A.M.
Joon: BEE
Joon: sorry change of plans
Joon: me and yoongi have to finish off this last bit
Bee: so I'm being stood up by you of all people
Bee: D:
Joon: baby girl don't guilt trip me
Joon: I sent someone else over instead
Bee: who? Jungkook?
Joon is typing....
Bee doesn't get to see what Namjoon is typing next because someone appears right in front of her at that very moment.
"Hi Bee"
Bee stares up at Jimin, unconsciously her mouth wide open. Mentally, she is strangling Namjoon.
"Can I sit down?" Jimin asks first and Bee nods. Her throat suddenly feels so dry and she can already tell that her cheeks are turning pink.
"What are you doing here?" she swallows hard and quickly takes a sip of her tea for her suddenly parched throat. This time, she mentally slaps herself for asking quite an obvious question.
"Namjoon hyung didn't tell you?" the corner of his lips rise slightly and Bee feels like her heart is about to explode. She takes a moment and takes a deep breath because she knows she's not allowed to feel this way.
"Well, he kind of just told me just now." She fidgets with her fingers. Why does Jimin have to make her so nervous in front of him?
Bee however doesn't notice this because she's looking away, but Jimin even if he wasn't being obvious, inside he is smiling widely and his stomach has those weird butterflies because finally he's with the person he wants to see the most.
"Better me than him, right?" He blurts and this makes Bee laugh and nods with agreement. Jimin at first was taken aback but sighed in relief knowing that they had gotten rid of the tension between them two and Bee finally doesn't seem so nervous anymore. "Just don't tell him that please, he'd kill me."
"Since we're both free today, do you have anything you want to do?" Jimin asks, he folds his arm on the table and leans forward. Bee turns rigid and speechless at the sudden attentiveness from Jimin although she didn't really hate it either.
Bee shakes her head. "I don't really have any idea. Usually Namjoon would just talk about his work and sometime let me listen to his mixtapes." She answers.
"Why don't we go bowling? Let's go bowling." He decides, disregarding what Bee just said and stands up from his seat. Bee blinks at him confused but gets up with him anyway. He grabs hold onto her hands and leads her out of the café. Their walk towards the bowling centre takes a while and all Bee could do is think about how their hands fit perfectly together. His hands are warm and big enough that they envelope hers, making her feel secure and his.
"Bee" he says all of a sudden, "Let's not talk about Namjoon or anyone else today." He says; his smile bitter as he turns back to her and she could feel his hand squeeze hers a little tighter. "Let's just talk about us today."
Bee suddenly stops and although reluctantly, she pulls her hands away from the warmth of his hand.
"Jimin, we can't do- this." She looks down at her palms, missing the touch of his hands already. "You have a girlfriend." The word felt like nails going down her throat. Jimin steps forward and takes hold of her hand again, intertwining their fingers together making sure that she never lets go of them again.
"Had." He says and Bee looks up at him confused. "And I told you; let's just talk about us today." He smiles and he pulls her beside him and they start walking again.
The whole day for Bee was surprisingly fun and the awkwardness she used to feel whenever she was around Jimin had disappeared. After bowling, they decided to have a light lunch and then took a stroll in the park.
"I totally beat your ass in bowling." Bee comments and Jimin turns and stares at her, gasping and holding onto the fabric near his chest as if deeply insulted by her words.
"Well excuse me, I was just going easy on you." He retorts and huffs. Bee can't help but laugh out loud and Jimin narrows his eyes to glare down at her.
"Jimin to be honest, I have never seen anyone throw balls into the gutter as much as you did." She claims and laughs harder.
"Yeah, well- " Jimin has turned a little flustered now. He has never been so attacked before and of all people by Bee. "Let's play a game of baseball. I'll bring you to a batting cage and we can see who can hit the most balls." He challenges her. Bee scoffs but there is determination in her eyes and she pokes his cheek in means of a fun provocation.
"We'll see about that." She says and chuckles at the thought of her beating Jimin once again. Without any warning, Jimin has already put his arms around her and pokes her right back. This however, causes Jimin to lean in closer and now their faces are about a few inches from each other. Neither of them are saying anything, both already frozen in their current position while Jimins eyes are fixated on her eyes staring right back at him.
Bee feels like she's choking with Jimin at this proximity and she sees that his eyes start to lower down slowly but surely to her lips. She can't- she can't breathe. She panicked, resulting her to turn away and Jimin snapped out of his daze.
"Y-You want some ice-cream?" she asks without looking at Jimin and walks hurriedly towards the ice-cream van not far from where they stood. Jimin sighs and follows her from behind, realising that he was probably going too fast for her.
"I'll take care of it." He says and pats her on her head as he moves toward the van, "What flavour?"
"Cookies and cream." She answers and Jimin smiles at the deep blush obvious on her cheeks.
Jimin gets an ice-cream for the each of them and they walk side by side, and again there is an awkward silence between them.
"Jimin, I know what you said before but-" she swallows hard before coming out with her question, "Is it ok for me to be here? Won't Hyomin get angry?" She asks.
"We broke up." He starts "Actually, she dumped me." Jimin smiles bashfully.
"Oh. Sorry, I didn't know" Bee says, a little surprised that she only just knew about it. Not one of the boys had even mentioned it to her. Jimin shakes his head and lets out a defeated sigh.
"There's nothing to be sorry about. I was the jerk, I deserved it." He explains but shrugs after. "Well at least now I can hang out with you and the rest of the guys more." He reasons with himself.
"I guess." Bee responds, trying her best not to look so overjoyed over his breakup.
By the time they finished their ice-cream, they both have arrived in front of Bee's house.
"Today was fun." Bee admitted; Jimin couldn't help but smile seeing that he had made an effort to make her happy finally.
"It was." Jimin steps closer. Bee is looking down at the asphalt, not even daring to look up at Jimin. Chills run down her neck when he takes one more step closer and she can feel his breath as he leans down to match her height. When Jimin's fingers touch her chin to tilt her face upward to look up at him, she shudders and closes her eyes tightly when he leans in closer only to have him peck her on the cheek.
"Good night." He whispers in her ear and her cheeks heat up immediately.
"G-Good night." She blurts and dashes into her house, embarrassed. She closes the door behind her and leans against it, panting as if she just ran a marathon. Her heart was racing as if it could just burst out of her chest at any moment.
She checks her phone to check the time; its past 9 O' clock and then notices her messages from Namjoon.
10:58 A.M.
Joon: I sent you Jimin
2:47 P.M.
Joon: Hey you're not answering me
Joon: really you ignore your best friend like this
Joon: ok I stood you up I'm sorry but you're having fun right?
Joon: ;)
9:25 P.M.
Joon: How'd it go?
Joon: ;) ;) ;)
Bee takes a deep breath before replying angrily to him.
Bee: I'm going to kill you Kim Namjoon
