Intense

My eyes can be all those
Usually are all those
But not with you
Even when I try

I used to be shy
Looking people in the eyes was a challenge
I was afraid
But not anymore

I stare now, deep into others
Dominance is mine because I look longest
Most people look away first
Frightened? Uncomfortable?

And I crave that control
The power that comes with staring people down
Metal eyes shutting people down
Unbreakable metal

But then I look at you
And my metal's gone
Rusted in the deep blue
Rusted in the gentle ocean of your eyes

And I try to control it
To look intense, dominating
To look gentle, caring
But I fail

I fail miserably
My body turns on me
And all I can do
Is smile
