When it dropped through the letterbox...

..... she didn't know how to feel. Sure, there was a great amount of excitement and anticipation welling up inside her but there was also hesitation and doubt. Had she done the right thing? Would this be worth all of the upset it could cause?

These were questions she could not answer. Neither by opening the parcel or by not opening it. Either way, the questions would still be there ... looming, unanswered ... followed by repercussion once the deed was done.

She held it in her hands. It was almost as if she could feel the power emanating from within. Her hands felt warm and tingly. It was like the contents were speaking to her, saying "Open me, you know it's what you really want". But that was the problem, she didn't know if this was what she wanted. She knew nothing at this precise moment other than the uncertainty of it all.

Sure, she had weighed up all the pro's and con's before requesting this parcel. Many nights had been spent, turning it over and over in her mind and in her heart. Should she? Shouldn't she? Her curiosity of the unknown had eventually gotten the better of her (as she knew it would) and she had gone ahead and entered into the unknown.

Now, it was here. Right here. In her hands. She had heard it's gentle thud as it had came through the letterbox, matching the sound her heart then made, when she realised it had arrived.

Suddenly, the phone rang. She jumped. Silly her. It was only the phone, an every day occurrence but she had been so wrapped up in the magic of what was to come that she had displaced herself from reality.

"Hello" she said as she answered the call. "Oh hi darling, how's your day been?" "Oh good, you're on your way home, I'll see you shortly, love you".

Well, that was that, the discovery would have to wait just a little while longer, as this was something she had to explore on her own. No one else could be caught up in this. This was something only she could get involved in. So she tucked the small parcel carefully at the back of her wardrobe, feeling it's resistance at being put away and not being attended to straight away. She chuckled to herself. There was fun times ahead. danger also but one thing was certain, things were never going to be the same again.
