Forward
4/23/19
for·ward
/ˈfôrwərd/
adverb
1. In the direction that one is facing or traveling; toward the front.
2. Onward so as to make progress; toward a successful conclusion.
A forward is also a preamble, a explanation, a story. Written at the beginning, from author to reader. A note to you, from me. One meant to explain, to help you see as I saw.
It is usually placed at the very beginning, as a way to guide your thoughts before you read.
The word forward itself, well it means a lot.
This is a forward, a note from the author to the reader. But it's also a explanation, to help you understand.
And most of all, for me it's a message to myself.
That definition is there to remind me to look forward, "toward a successful conclusion." The conclusion and the resolution ahead. The end of the tunnel of growing up.
I think it's funny that these notes from authors are called forwards. It's as if it's there to tell you to continue onward, on into the story.
Story.
My Story.
This is my story. It's my soul inscribed into words, and handed to you to view. It's my everything on paper. It's me, the real one.
Every chapter is a poem, or maybe a anthem, or even a collection of thoughts.
I'll date every chapter, because I plan on keeping this story alive. For a longtime. I want to be able to look back one day and see who I was, and who I slowly became.
So this book, it's a record. A record of the thoughts, feelings, and stories of a young girl. And it will later become the thoughts, feelings, and stories of a young adult.
And you get to see it all. Watch as the words transform just as I do.
This book is my everything, or has been for the last year or so.
It's a dedication to life.
And to the growing pains that come with it.
It's a story of 'becoming' and 'discovering'.
It's the story of who I'm discovering myself to be, and a record of me becoming myself.
It's the story of who I am, and who I'm becoming.
I hope you guys discover something about who you are in this story,
Eliza Bright.
