The Plague
The cafeteria was alive with students excited about spending time with their friends on the first day back to school. All the cliques were settling down in what would be their table for the rest of the year. You could see students avoiding certain areas like the plague.
He had no idea where he would be sitting for the rest if the year but that's not really what mattered to him. He only had one person on his mind and it was the girl that everyone seemed so intrigued by. He thought he would be the center of attention. He was sure that in a school this small that it wasn't ever day that they got a new student but this year they got two. The whole school had eyes in her though like he was invisible. From the time he stepped onto campus he noticed people wide eyed and whispering as she walked by. He could totally understand why; she was absolutely stunning.
Baylen scanned the cafeteria to try and find the mystery girl. It didn't take long to find her after following the gazes if some of the students. She was in the back corner sitting at a table all alone almost like she was the plague everyone was trying to avoid. In front if her was a stack of books a journal and her lunch. She had a pair of head phones on and seemed completely content while munching on her food. As much as he hated to interrupt he knew this was the time to make his move.
When he sat down at her table she looked up at him wide eyed. For a moment she just stared at him. He didn't know what to do or say so he just starred right back. Finally after what seemed like forever she pushed her headphones back. He took this as a chance to introduce himself, "Hi, I'm..."
"I don't care who you are," she said without missing a beat. "I know that you're new here so I'm going to give you a little advice. If you want to avoid any bullshit from the other students then you should stay away from me."
"What do you mean?" He asked.
As she goes to say something a big burly jock walks up sporting the schools letterman, "What Sindra means is that if you want to make it through this school year without dying then you probably want to avoid her."
"Why don't you go fuck yourself Samuel," she growls.
Samuel leans over the table with a smirk on his face, "or we could take this to the back seat of my car like old times."
"I'd rather die," she spits.
"You've already tried that." He laughs.
Sindra looks over at Baylen with an emotionless face. "The point is to stay away from me," she says before walking away.
