Chapter 22
Chapter 22
The next morning, I woke from my deep slumber. My nose was blocked up and eyes puffed. Dmitry was nowhere in sight. I remembered him moving me to my bed, his strong arms wrapped around me and radiated warmth.
"Morning." Gina popped her head from behind the door.
"Morning, come in."
"How have you been?" she asked as she sat next to me.
"Fine." I lied. Me and Dmitry's fight got to me. I could not wrap my head around the thought of Dmitry wanting to take me to Russia. When he said those few words my heart swooned. I wanted to be near him then and now. "Actually no. I and Dmitry fought yesterday."
"Oh, my dear. How did you handle that?" She rubbed my back, "I remembered when I and my husband fought for the first time. It felt horrible."
"Yeah, felt like that. But we aren't even together."
"I think you are closer than you think." I rested my head on her shoulder for comfort. "What did you fight about?"
"He wants me to move with him to Russia. I said no, I mean he is a stranger to me." I explained as she turned to me in shock.
"Maybe it is not such a bad idea? You do want to find yourself." I was confused, she was always against Dmitry.
"And that is why I am staying here, right?"
"Yes, but Russia is Russia. And Dmitry is no stranger, I see how you look at him and he to you." I just hummed in response. Gina smiled tightly at me and invited me for tee downstairs. I dressed and retreated downstairs.
We sat in the lounge area, drinking tea and eating cookies. I sat opposite Olive and next to Gina on a green couch. We were having light conversations and laughs. It was needed after the past few rough weeks we all went through. Olive was speaking excitedly about her pregnancy.
"I can't wait to have my baby boy in my arms."
"Have you thought of names?" Gina asked as she took a sip of her coffee.
"We haven't yet decided on one. We have been arguing between Michael Jnr and Oliver. For some odd reason Michael wants to call his son Oliver, but I think he is going to be a little Michael Jnr. He surely is as stubborn as his father." She laughed and rubbed her belly, feeling him kick her stomach.
"Please no! I can't handle another Michael running around. He was terrible!" Gina exaggerated.
"He still is."
"Was he really that bad?" I asked in a laugh at their serious faces.
"He was a big prankster when he was little. He once died a poor girl's hair this ugly green colour. The poor girl almost had a heart attack, ugh... don't even mention all the late-night missions he had. If he wasn't vandalizing shit, he was irritating the living hell out of people." Gina explained in horror of the memories. Olive laughed with me and ate her cookie.
We spoke more when suddenly there was a commotion outside. People were rushing around in the streets and children running to houses. Olive's eyes stilled and pupils dilated.
"Gina, quick we need to lock the doors." Gina sprung to her feet and rushed to the kitchen. Olive stood up and fastly locked the front door.
"What is going on?" I asked and helped Olive back onto the couch, she was breathing heavy.
"Rogues on the land."
"Rogues? Again?"
"Yes, at the border. Only a few apparently." She was white as a snowman as she sat back down on the couch.
"All doors are locked. It is going to be fine, Olive." Gina came in, already knowing what was happening. She looked like she has done it many times.
"Are they here for me again?"
"Don't know. Rogues are pesky things sometimes." Gina noted and sat next to Olive rubbing her back. "Michael is going to be all right, he is a strong Alpha." I sat opposite them on the green couch again, waiting in anticipation. I hoped that Michael was safe, I haven't seen Dmitry since our fight. A coldness ran down my body, my hands turned into ice blocks. I prayed for Dmitry's safety, that our fight wasn't the last thing we did together.
The second ticks on the clock were slowing down, becoming louder as time passed by. My head was spinning in circles in worry. Every breath I took became harder and tears were threatening to fall. Loud howls were heard in a far distance and the unknown threat became more real. The minutes ticked past and Olive became more worried every second. The howls stopped and thunder cracked in the sky, raindrops starting to pour down on the window.
Screams left our mouths as the front door burst open to reveal a soaked Dmitry. My heart skipped a beat as I took in his body. He was hardly clothed; he only wore a pair of basketball shorts. His chest was well defined, the muscles bulged from the cold raindrops that ran down it. His chest rose up and down as he took in deep breaths. His arms bigger than I imagined them to be, the dress shirts did not do justice to them. His arteries were protruding from them, he looked like a regal king with his strong physic. His eyes snapped to me, an electric blue glow. In a blink he was in front of me on his knees and his head on my lap. His growls toned down as I brushed his hair between my fingers. Michael stepped a few minutes later in the house and was at Olive's side, kissing her on the head as she breathed out in relieve. Alek stepped in next, rubbing his hand threw his wet hair and shook it like a dog. His eyes travelled in and over to Dmitry and me and widened.
"It is not safe here, Hope," Dmitry mumbled into my lap. Lifting his head, he looked me straight in the eyes. "Please, you need to come to Russia."
"Dmitry..."
"He is right, Hope," Gina spoke up form Olive's direction. "I want you to stay here, but... I cannot protect you. Not like Dmitry can."
"I don't understand. Why are these rogues after me? Why am I in danger? Is it because I know?"
"No." Dmitry looked at my stomach. "You mean much more than that. You are my everything and that is why. You are in danger, because of me." he whispered the last part softly, my ears barely hearing.
"Then how will I be safe with you if you are the reason?" I breathed as I still combed his hair with my fingers.
"Because you are my everything, my mate." he stepped back from his position on the ground and bend to my level, gazing into my eyes.
"Mate?"
"Soulmate... you are my other half. The one I will protect till death; you are the missing part of my soul."
"I don't understand..."
"All mystics have them. Like me and Michael, we are mates. We can't live without one another. Hope, you are his as much as he is yours. You won't be able to live without him. That is why you're in danger, you are our Queen."
"And I need my Queen."
