Practise makes perfect: TUESDAY
"Peej I need your help" I exclaimed as I got to the cafeteria the next afternoon, it was a free day so no activities for once. It felt nice to have a bit of relaxation, well at least it would if Phil wasn't inside my head.
"what's the problem?" He asked me casually, eating a crabstick.
"what can we do?" Pete asked after. I looked at my little group of friends and gulped. I wasn't sure if they were homophobic or not... I didn't know them well enough. I took in a deep breath, I was only in here for a few more days if things go to plan 'it won't be the end of the world if they judge you' my brain tried to calm me down, although it didn't really work.
"umm... I'm sorry if this makes you uncomfortable but it's Phil..." I started and cleared my throat as everyone listened "I think I like him." The table went quiet and I thought I had truly fucked up.
"aww" Cook was the first one to break the silence after swallowing some bread.
"have you actually spoken to him?" Pete asked in a state of shock. I nodded slowly.
"we hung out and talked a lot" I mumbled feeling a blush spread across my cheeks.
"Finally my Danny boy found someone! I'm a proud mother!" PJ practically yelled out.
"you're missing the big picture" I hissed as everyone from neighbouring tables shot us dirty looks.
"enlighten me" PJ smirked
"he's antisocial, everyone says it. He'd never date me!" Even if he wasn't shy he still wouldn't date me, he was Phil and I was just Dan... plain old Dan. PJ sighed at me.
"He's never talked to anyone before you. Trust me, you have a chance" he leaned in close as if to whisper a secret but shouted in my ear "go for it you nugget!" I recoiled back and held my ear drum that felt like it had just burst open.
"What the fuck peej?" I hissed as my ears rang out but I wasn't really annoyed "besides I don't even know where to start"
"ask him out you idiot" Cook said with a mouthful of bread, not bothering to swallow this time.
"want to practise?" Peej asked helpfully.
"I barely know him" I shook my head, I wished I hadn't said anything.
"Take him to a concert when he gets out, get a McDonald's or something after idk! Just go on a date and get to know him." The guys wouldn't drop it now and the more we talked about it, the more I wanted to go out with Phil.
"I suppose I could" everyone smiled at me
"Let's practise shall we?" Peej asked
"Do we have to?" I moaned and PJ stubbornly nodded
"Yes. Yes we do" I sighed but saw no point in arguing with peej.
"Okay. What first" he smirked at me.
"Well Daniel. Start it causally" I thought for a bit
"Yo dude wassup?" I said.
"Dan I said casual not chavy!" I turned bright red and apologised as peej face palmed
"He's hopeless!" He cried out dramatically.
"Dan" Carrie said gaining my attention "my advice is be yourself. Tell him how you feel and how much you want to get to know him. You can both figure it out from there" she smiled warmly at me.
"Carrie you're the best!" I hugged her sideways on.
"Sure. Thank the stage girl" PJ mumbled, still keeping his over dramatic director facade.
"Oh get over yourself" I chuckled and patted him on the back
"now go get him" Cook outburst and everyone on the table cheered "phan" and Pete kept saying "Dil" instead. They chanted as they hit the table rhythmically. Forcing myself off the table due to sheer humiliation, though I have to admit it was entertaining and I appreciated the help.
Once outside the cafeteria I began to think about everything I would say to Phil. This was it. Time to get to know him. Time to ask him out.
