My name is Jack May. I'm currently in my fourth period and it's my turn to introduce myself to the entire class. I stand up and stood there for a few seconds. I didn't want to speak.

"Uh— Alright... Thank you?" The teacher gives me a weird look and I sit back down on my seat... Today's the first day of high school. I'm starting my second year today. I can't believe I made it passed freshman year. It was hard. I turn around and see people staring at me.

Is there something on my face?

The bell rings. I stand and grab my backpack, then start rushing towards the door. I gasp in relief. Thank god that class was over. I needed some food.

"Hello." I hear a familiar voice, I look up and see my older brother, Jason, just a year older than me, "How was fourth period?"

I give him a thumbs up. He smiles at me, "Well at least they didn't try to force you to talk, unlike the other teacher, right?" I nod and smiled back at him. Jason and I head over to get some food.

I follow Jason to his group of friends, I don't talk to them at all, they don't talk to me either. But I realize there's a new girl. I sit next to her and my brother. She turns to me and smiles, "Hello, my names Tessa, i'm new to this school." She lets out her hand. I smile to her and look away to avoid any contact with Tessa. I hear her sigh heavily, "I'm a second year, like you. I have you for my first period." I turn back at her. I never noticed her in first period.

"His names Jack. He doesn't bother to use words, like everyone else does." A third year, named Kasey, spoke for me. He seems to not like me since I see him mocking me in the halls sometimes.

"A-Ah... I guess, that's okay... Do you use sign language or write on a notepad to communicate?" Tessa asks, I shake my head no, "Really?! Here! Use this. So it's easier to communicate with others!" She pulls out a little note pad and a bunny pen attached to it. I smile at her, she smiles back. I flip the note pad to an empty page and write,

'Thank you.'
