Chapter 1: Something New
You opened your eyes for a moment but blinded by light you shut them again.
"Hey, are you okay? I'm glad you're awake now but I still want to make sure everything is all right." You heard a girls voice but didn't respond. She grabbed onto a part of your arm that had a wound which made you wince. "Please open your eyes, I need to know if I've patched you up properly!" Her tone was full of worry.
You squinted to block out the light until you got used to it enough to finally get a proper look at the girl. Her thick, strawberry blonde hair was tied back into a pony tail. It seemed to be mostly unbrushed as her natural curls were the opposite of kempt. She had large eyes that were a muted green but was lacking in the eyelash department.
"So?" She begins to become impatient but the chipperness in her voice remained.
You weren't thinking clearly. "Mhm, yeah." You responded. Too fatigued and sore to actually care for the moment.
"Yay! Now it's time for soup. In comes the aeroplane." She'd pulled out a thermos and spoon from beside her, taking a scoop of the liquid.
"Hang on a-" you were cut off by her shovelling it into your mouth.
it tasted good, well, for a soup. You didn't further complain as she continued to feed you at a good pace. It was a vegetable soup with sweet potatoes and carrot V-sliced, chunks of celery too. You couldn't really tell but there must've been onion in there too.
"My arms getting tired, that should be enough for now." She packed up. "My names Alice." She smiled looking at you.
"Oh, uh, (y/n)." You kept words to a minimum because you were fighting a brain fog and a headache. The stinging of your wounds hadn't disappeared either.
"(y/n... (y/n)..." she brought her finger to her chin, looking up. "I don't recognise you or the name. You must be from Elsewhere."
"Yeah, (place)." You told her.
"I meant the kingdom Elsewhere, not... not..." she'd gone pale and stood up. Her fists closed in anger. "No!" Abruptly she shouted making you cover your ears. "I'm the only Alice. You can't take that away from me!" Her face filled with hatred and her loud voice was like a blow to the head. "I'm better off leaving you here for dead." Her words were laced with spite. "It would be guilt free for me since I gave you your last meal and all." She smiled with a giggle. "Toodles~ Hmm... no, the sounds like we'll meet again. Bye-bye!" She waved then turned her back to you walking off in the distance.
As if you were going to die, you scoffed. 'Weird girl.'
You hadn't noticed it before but there was, what looked like, a village. Full of colours, patterns. Seems like a child's dream. Speaking of which. You were sure this wasn't one. The amount of times you had read stories where the main character didn't believe or even grasp the concept of being in another land pissed you off. The places they ended up were unrealistic and the scenery impossible to create un noticed, not to mention bigger than Disney world so not cost viable either.
Putting your attention towards your wounds. It felt like the glass was still digging in. Whenever you had a cut and applied some sort of wrapping it felt relieving. You began to question Alice's care abilities and unravelled her work, wincing at the sight. It was all a mess. The most gashed up skin you had ever seen. Nothing had been rinsed off. You made it your priority to get these cleaned up.
You didn't bother to stand, instead crawling over to a small river stream. You took your shoes and socks off to dip your feet in the water. It put you in a position that was easier to rinse your arms and felt calming. Picking at the wounds you grabbed the bigger chunks of glass out and hoped the water would push the rest out. You didn't want to dig at anything too much incase it would make something worse.
By the end you were left with bright pink gashes, few spots of red stuck around but it was all clean. The throbbing was bearable since it meant everything was numb.
Laying down and taking a deep breath, you began to piece where you had ended up. The mention of Alice and the wacky scenery was a dead giveaway. It did annoy you that the how and why wasn't obvious. It's probably some creative bullshit like magic and filling in the story. Maybe it was deeper than that but those are just beginning theories for now, not like you had the brain power or knowledge to come up with something else.
Slowly and steadily you stood up and took your feet out of the water. It was time to get more of a gist of everything, find a better spot to rest. Could you add medical attention to that list too? You were un sure, you had no money after all. Popping your socks and shoes back on, stumbling in the process you made your way to the town. Upon getting closer you noticed a male with blonde hair and a streak in it wearing a vibrantly coloured suit with a matching top hat.
His face lit up the moment he saw you and rushed in for a hug.
