Chapter 24

Namjoon grimaced at the pain while Hoseok hurried over to you. "What happened to you?" Yoongi spoke up on what everyone wanted to ask.

"Nothing." Namjoon waved it off.

"Your leg is looking like it's about to fall off." Jimin commented.

You frowned as Hoseok came over to you. "What-"

"Namjoon wants you to feel better first and said to tend to you. I'll do it after I give you your medicine, okay?" Hoseok explained and dug through the bag he got. You continued to show your displeasure but kept quiet. Out of the corner of your eye, you could see Seokjin helping Namjoon to sit down on the other side.

Hoseok popped open a bottle that was pretty purple. "The doctor in town said that usually people from other worlds don't take well to our medicine but this should help. I guess there's a lot of people that come to our world. If not, I got a whole bag of medicine."

Without a word, Taehyung handed him another teacup to which Hoseok poured the medicine in. You cautiously accepted it and the fragrance hit your nose first. Honestly, it didn't smell that bad. You were quick to drink it. After a moment or so, you could feel yourself become better.

Your body was no longer burning up and your head didn't throb in pain anymore. "I think it worked."

Hoseok sent you a smile. "That's great! Take it easy for now." He looked at Jungkook who was ready to pounce to give you a hug. The rabbit huffed but understood. Now Hoseok went over to Namjoon and started to rip the already torn material. Namjoon grimaced from the pain and you could see the blood covering his injury.

"Are you going to tell us what happened?" Taehyung questioned him as Hoseok brought out the green liquid that couldn't cure you.

"Oh. I could have fallen to my death right now."

Everyone waited for him to continue. "You're just going to say that and leave us hanging like that?" Taehyung sounded a bit annoyed.

"Okay, there was a Flying Arrow and the horse got spooked then bucked. I grabbed onto the stirrups in time and bashed my leg against the cliff. Hoseok had to coax the horse forward until the path was wide." He grimaced as Hoseok poured the green liquid onto his leg.

"Wow you really could have died." Taehyung commented and was in deep thought.

You watched the green liquid heal the injury as Hoseok cleaned off the blood with the bandages he found in the pack of the horse. It was now all healed. When you think about it, Namjoon could have died today and it would have been your fault. The thought made you burst into tears.

Everyone was spooked. "Y/N? Why are you crying?" Seokjin awkwardly patted your head.

"Oh I forgot to mention." Hoseok said with an awkward smile. "The medicine can cause side effects..."

"Like what?" Yoongi questioned.

"Uh mood swings and like superhuman strength." Hoseok looked at you. "The doctor said it would probably last for... twenty-four hours."

Warily, everyone looked at you. Well, you don't get angry most of the time! They should be fine... right?

It's been a few minutes and the tears wouldn't stop. "I-It's my fault!" You cried out.

"No!" Namjoon tried to reassure you. "It was my own fault."

Blindly, you reached beside you and grabbed the fabric underneath your fingertips. Snatching it up, you blew your nose into it.

"Ew!" Seokjin snatched his cape away. "Look where you're grabbing!"

The tears stopped at an instant and you set the meanest glare you ever did. Seokjin froze as everyone did also. "Oh he's dead." Jimin said.

"Give that back to me right now." You snapped and to demonstrate it, your hand grabbed a rock. With a closed fist, you smashed the rock into dozens of pieces.

Seokjin immediately took off his cape and handed it to you. "Y-You can keep it! I-It was ugly anyways!"

"Aw you're so kind!" You smiled this time and patted his head in thanks. Seokjin looked so nervous and stayed still underneath your head.

"Did the doctor say why mood swings and superhuman strength were a side effect?" Taehyung asked in a whisper.

"N-No. Just said the possibility is because people are confused with emotions when they come here and so this just releases them as the medicine tries to heal." Hoseok whispered back. "And he decided for fun to add some strength in there."

That damn doctor.

Thankfully, you were willing to go to sleep and slept through the night without any problems. In the morning, you were a bit off from your usual self...

"Why can't we go now?" You frowned at the guys who were nervous. They didn't want to upset you and become nothing but a pile of dust.

"Uh," Namjoon began. "We need to pack up everything and make sure everyone's okay!"

Your eyes flickered to the packs somewhat stuffed from last night and the remaining blankets. "It's only a few things!" You gathered up the blankets and went to put them in the less empty packs.

"That's all you can come up with?!" Jimin hissed at Namjoon in a low whisper.

"Then you come up with excuses!" Namjoon shot back.

You returned with a happy smile. "Are we all ready now?"

The guys looked at each other and hesitantly nodded. There were no more excuses in their minds. This was going to be scary. Yoongi called you over to his horse and it was decided way before that Yoongi would ride with you. He was one of the more calm ones besides Hoseok. Alright, he didn't really talk much so he was good choice.

The adventure resumed.

It wasn't so bad. Yoongi kept quiet which in turn had you quiet. Literally everyone was in front of you and worriedly looking back. There hasn't been any drastically wild changes and they were thankful. Only a few more miles to the lake and a few more hours before the side effects were done! They can do this!

"Everyone understand?" Namjoon said.

"I feel bad." You commented from your spot underneath the shady tree.

"We can't have you get eaten and not save Wonderland, Y/N!" Taehyung smiled at you to show it was okay.

You nodded. "Okay, stay safe though!" The group gave you all nods and headed towards the lake. They slowly made their way over being quiet and on the lookout. There was no guardian in sight. Stealthy, Jimin made his way to the water's edge with the pouch since he was the quietest on his feet. As Jimin started to fill the pouch with water, they heard a rumble.

Everyone froze as something emerged from the lake. It rose to the air. It was a serpent looking creature with fins running along its cheeks and spine. The creature roared, showing off its giant teeth.

"Hurry up!" Seokjin yelled.

Jimin hurriedly filled the rest of the bottle and hastily screwed on the cap. The serpent's tail swung in a giant arc aiming for Jimin. Then the caterpillar was pushed out of the way and Jungkook got knocked into the air from the tail. It sent him flying a great distance and right to you.

You were startled by the sudden thud and went to investigate it. To your surprise, it was Jungkook. He groaned in pain. "Are you okay?" You asked him and held out a hand. Jungkook accepted it and stood up.

"I got hit by that thing." He rubbed his back.

"What?!" You angrily said.

Oh no. Jungkook made you angry. "I mean- ah wait Y/N!" He called after you as you marched forward. Jungkook wasn't afraid for you, no, he was afraid of what you were going to do to the lake guardian.

"We just have to get out of here!" Hoseok dodged another attack. The guys nodded though it was a bit futile. The serpent snapped at them and whipped its tail around.

"Hey you!" Your angry voice called out. Everyone froze, even the lake guardian. "You think that you can knock these people around like dolls or something?!" Your angry glare rested on the serpent.

The groups' hearts swelled up with affection.

"Only I can do that!"

Oh. Unless...? No. Not right now.

"You can only win with your dumb size!" The angry mood made you stomp over to a large boulder and pick it up with ease. "Let us go right now or I'll throw this."

The serpent looked at you and then to the guys. "You did attack us." Taehyung shrugged his shoulders. The serpent went back to looking at you.

"Don't ignore me when I'm talking to you!" You threw the boulder and it hit the lake guardian right in the face. It cried out in pain and shook its head. It whimpered and disappeared back into the lake.

"Hah! Coward!" You crossed your arms still fuming.

Everyone else looked at you then each other. "We've been fighting this thing for twenty minutes..." Seokjin muttered.

It's a good thing you didn't hear it or else you would have made fun of him.

Namjoon took hold of the situation. "W-Why don't we continue on our journey? You were a big help Y/N."

"Ah thanks! It spooked me when Jungkook fell from the sky!" Your anger disappeared and was replaced with a happy emotion.

"It wasn't cool when I fell from the sky..." Jungkook looked mortified. The poor rabbit. You happily went back to the horses as Hoseok counted the remaining hours. Soon, the side effects should stop. Hopefully.
