Chapter 20

Only half an hour has passed before Hoseok decided to give you and the horse a chance to rest. He found a small, shady spot to stop at. He helped you down from the horse and it gave you a chance to stretch. Something was off to you.

Over here, the air seemed... lively? Can you describe the air like that? You sat down near the base of the tree providing the shade. Hoseok took something out of the pouch from the bag on the horse. It was four sandwiches wrapped. He sat down next to you and handed you one. You took it and began eating lunch.

"Is it me or is something different?" Hoseok asked, looking around.

It wasn't just you! "I thought so too but I wasn't sure." You admitted.

Hoseok hummed and continued to eat. Once in a while, he looked around but couldn't pick up what he was feeling. For the next few minutes, you ate in silence until Hoseok stood up. "Wait here while I check around the area." You nodded and watched as he disappeared through the bushes.

Not even five minutes had gone by when he returned. "I'm not sensing any danger... Should we get going?"

Thankfully, you finished your sandwich and got on the horse with Hoseok's help. Now off you went once more. Hoseok kept conversation with you - like interests and hobbies. Whenever there was a lull in the conversation, it was peaceful. The cliffs were starting to level out. You would have guessed an hour had passed when you heard shouting up ahead. Hoseok picked up the pace and around the corner, it was the rest of the group!

And guess what they were doing!

That's right! Arguing with each other!

"For the last fucking time Jimin." Yoongi began. "Stop blowing your vape!"

"We are resting! I can't even relax a little!" Jimin shot back.

Taehyung snickered at them. "Where's the popcorn?" Jungkook nodded to show he was in agreement for once.

"Not with you blowing smoke everywhere!" Yoongi growled at him. "Put it away or I'll break it."

Jimin really had the audacity to puff a cloud of smoke in his face. Taehyung laughed at the misfortune as Yoongi swung a fist. Jungkook watched and Namjoon was trying his best to stop it. "Guys! We need to cross. Fighting will get you nowhere and you two apologize."

"Hah." Seokjin said from his place. "How rich, coming from you. You haven't apologized to me!"

"W-What are you talking about...?" Namjoon's image of a king was broken. "I already apologized..." Now that was a big, fat lie.

Seokjin looked flabbergasted. "Apologize? You didn't even say a single word to me all day!" Namjoon looked guilty as Seokjin went on the fastest rant you've ever seen. Or heard for that matter.

Hoseok and you simply stared at the scene unfolding in front of your eyes. "Should we just leave them?" He whispered and you jumped from the sudden proximity.

"I think so."

He laughed and urged the horse forward. You swear Jungkook has a built-in radar just for you. "Y/N!" He yelled and suddenly rushed forward in the blink of an eye. The rabbit stopped right in front of the horse. "Are you okay?!"

"Uh yeah?" You responded a bit confused. "Hoseok's a good companion to travel with."

Jungkook nodded reluctantly as the rest of the group headed to where you were. Once the group reunited, you could already feel the weird tension in the air. You assume that they fought once more when the group got separated. "Only a few more miles..." Hoseok mumbled.

"Uh actually we might have to stop for a moment." Namjoon told Hoseok. Hoseok and you were confused as Namjoon started to explain. "Well, we ran into another creature and we killed it..."

Now you could smell it. Their clothes were drenched in whatever goo the monster had. You held your breath. Hoseok moved the horse a little past the treeline and got off. He helped you off as the rest of the guys led their horses to the area. They immediately left and headed straight to the river.

Meanwhile, you looked over the map with Hoseok. "So, we're here..." He pointed to a spot. "We have to follow this..." He trailed his finger over the break of trees. Your eyes continued to follow where his finger went. It then moved alongside the base of the mountain and nestled in the mountains were a small village. "We can rest here and ask some people if they heard of the rock."

"Sounds like a good plan." You looked forward and realized you could see a mountain in the distance. Looks like you were closer than you thought. "How much longer?"

Hoseok hummed. "I say a few more hours." He replied and put away the map. "So, tell me about yourself!" He plopped down right next to you.

You got slightly startled. His smile was infectious so you told him about your parents and the stuff your dad brings home with him. "Oh that sounds nice!" Hoseok said. "I only have my sister. Right now she's traveling but it's a good thing that she left before Wonderland became like this."

You agreed. There were other subjects to talk about and Hoseok was happy to do so. You swear he was one of the friendliest people you've ever met. Sadly, the conversation came to an end once everyone returned. At once, Jungkook bounded up to you and asked you, "Would you like to ride with me? I don't stink anymore!"

Damn it. That was cute.

"I guess." You relented and Jungkook looked so happy. Like if you handed him the key to all secrets on a silver platter. It was time to get moving again and this time you got onto the horse with Jungkook. The journey started out alright as Jungkook didn't even talk that much. He would sometimes ask you if you were okay or needed anything. Other than that, he didn't make much conversation.

And surprisingly enough, he stopped picking fights with everyone.

Suddenly, Taehyung's words striked you. Did he really mean that some of them like you? As you pondered, you hardly took notice of your surroundings until you reached the small town. Confused, you looked around and saw that everyone had stopped the horses. You started to get off and Jungkook caught onto you. But you guessed he might have frightened himself or lacked confidence since he dropped you.

You didn't know what to say as you felt the dirt dig into your knees. Wow. You can't believe he's done this.

"Ah! I'm SO sorry!" Jungkook scrambled to lift you up and gently place your feet on the ground.

Well, that was so not embarrassing. Taehyung was simply laughing his ass off. "Jungkook, what the hell was that?! Here, you're all acting high and mighty but you do something like this?"

Jungkook looked so ashamed. The expression on his face reminded you of a puppy dog. So you told Taehyung off. "Shut up Taehyung. It was my fault that I slipped." You dusted off your clothes.

Taehyung stopped at once. "Ah sorry then."

Namjoon awkwardly went to an inn to reserve some rooms for the night. Everyone else was being awkward. They sort of stood around, waiting for the Red King to come back. Oh, did you make it like this? You think you did. Thankfully Namjoon came back in quick time and said he reserved some rooms. Only problem was that it was two rooms.

"No, you're not rooming with Y/N." Namjoon glared at Jungkook. Jungkook looked crestfallen. Namjoon handed you a key and he held the other. "We'll be sharing the other one."

"I would rather sleep outside." Yoongi muttered. Another rare case of Jimin agreeing with Yoongi occurred. It was scary.

Namjoon looked a bit offended. "Okay, it's not ideal with seven people..."

"It isn't." Seokjin sighed. "At least I'll get the bed."

"Why would you get the bed?" Hoseok questioned.

Seokjin looked confused. "Why wouldn't I?"

"Oh!" Taehyung excitedly spoke up. Looks like he wasn't affected anymore by the tension from earlier. "Rock, paper, scissors!" He held out his fist, ready to play. Everyone looked at his hand then towards him.

"What's that?"

Even you were surprised. Taehyung sighed. "C'mon! This is a cool game in Y/N's world! This is how they settle everything, right?"

"No...?" You aren't sure where he got that information.

Taehyung looked defeated. "I thought I was right..." Then he jumped into explaining the game and once everyone was willing to give it a try, they started. Ouch. The first person to lose was... Taehyung. How ironic.

The Mad Hatter looked at his hand in disbelief while the others continued on playing until someone was left. Looks like Jimin and Hoseok managed to win the beds. At last, you were able to go inside and find your rooms. Entering yours, you flopped down on the softest bed. Seriously this felt like home to you.

Knocking on your door shocked you awake. Blinking tiredly, you looked around the room. Ah, you must have fallen asleep. Whoops. Sluggishly, you headed over to the door and found it to be Namjoon and Seokjin. "Hope you had a good nap." The Red King smiled.

You sleepily nodded, still trying to process what's happening. "Seokjin and I haven't had dinner and we know you haven't either. Care to join us?"

"Sure." You mumbled.

You trailed behind the two kings, staring at them. You know it's kind of rude but their demeanor now feels off. This morning they were silently fighting and now look at them! All buddy-buddy and even joking around. You wondered what happened while you were off in dreamland. Now you feel strange about this.

The three of you finally entered what you assumed to be the bar and restaurant area of the inn. You took a seat next to Seokjin as a waitress came by and placed paper-like menus on the table. Around you, people were having a good time and clinking mugs of what you assumed to be beer. When the waitress came back, she took down the orders and the menus.

"So, what happened?" You had to ask as the two kings looked at each. "Did you two make up? And what's the plan?"

"Oh! Here, I'll explain everything." Seokjin chimed in.

Namjoon and you shared a worried look.
