We need to keep moving. Mingi urgently commanded, causing his mate to flinch while the two continued to run in their wolf forms.

Yunho knew better than to not listen to his Alpha right now after the catastrophe he had just caused at Sigma. When he took a final glance back toward the laboratory building and saw every one of the Omega's he was 'saving' and what all he had caused, his heart exploded in absolute guilt and grief.

Following Mingi's lead now was all he knew how to do anymore, like his body was on autopilot.

Where are we going? He asked the Alpha, his head voice trembling.

Mingi's voice was rough, even through the link. He let out a growl. We are running by the house to gather the essentials and then I'm going to find a way to get us the hell out of here. Do you understand how serious this is Yunho!?

Yunho flinched once more at his mate's tone, but he fully understood how serious the situation was. They would be on Supreme City's wanted list for the rest of their lives. They will forever be in constant running and hiding. They don't get the luxury of really living anymore.

And the thought of what could happen to them if they were to be caught...

The Beta shivered and continued to follow Mingi's lead, his head turned down.

Mingi had worked so hard for his head security position, but because of how reckless he was, his Alpha is now losing everything he's ever known, everything he has worked so hard for, and he doesn't feel worth it, not even a little bit.

When the couple arrive at their home, the atmosphere feels completely different than how they had peacefully woken up earlier this morning. There was now a gloom in the air that enveloped the whole house, weighing down on the Alpha and Beta as they hurried to pack the bare minimum of their belongings.

They made sure to change into clothes that were comfortable and practical. They needed clothing that they would be able to easily slip on and off if the situation called for shifting. If not, all of their clothing would be left in shreds like the lab coat and security uniform they were forced to leave behind. But Yunho didn't care for his lab coat much anyway.

While Yunho stuffed his pack with some of his clothes, his gaze landed on their bed, the blankets and pillows still completely disarrayed from when they left the warmth of it this morning and his heart ached.

He remembers how he woke up with the same concerns and anger he felt toward his job every day, but he also remembers the reassurance and comfort his mate had given him, pecking him on the top of the head for extra reinforcement. But, he's disappointed him. Now, his mate won't even look at him, silently sifting through their things to find the essentials.

All because he had to act so impulsively.

When their bags were full, Mingi ordered the Beta to stand next to the front door and wait for him. Yunho submissively listened but he was curious as to what Mingi needed to do while he waited.

The younger left his mate to go back inside their bedroom. Yunho could hear the Alpha rummaging through their closet, in a frantic, desperate search for something.

When Mingi approached Yunho again, there was a small wooden box with an intricate, white floral design on the lid. It looks fairly aged. The Beta has seen this box before because Mingi has had it for as long as he can remember. But anytime he would ask his Alpha about what's inside, Mingi would always dismiss the question, telling him not to worry about it. But with his mate in such a frantic state, he can't help but let his mind wander into further curiosity.

"What's i-in there, Mingi?" Yunho hesitantly asked, keeping his voice low.

The Alpha gritted his teeth. He's not ready to talk to his mate about anything right now. He's still so upset that even hearing his lover's voice makes his anger spike. "We don't have time to talk about it" he snapped. Before Yunho could ask anything further, the Alpha stuffed the mysterious wooden box into his small pack. "Let's go." He tossed a hoodie over to his mate and pulled another one over his own head.

Being extra cautious, the couple moved throughout the city, keeping their hooded heads down and avoiding any eye contact with other Supreme City citizens. They know that the Alpha rulers won't waste any time to post their faces all over the city. No one could be trusted.

Except for maybe one person.

Thankfully, she lived in a fairly hidden neighborhood. The street wasn't well lit and not many people lived in this direction. As they approached the old, rundown home, they glanced around the block one more time to be sure no one could be watching before knocking on the front door.

There was no response for a while, and they almost gave up, but before they turned away, the ancient door creaked open, revealing a tiny old woman. As the nighttime breeze hit her wrinkly skin, she tugged the shawl around her shoulders tighter. She peered at the pair in confusion, but then her eyes widened in realization. "Mingi?" she whispered.

"Hi grandma" The Alpha would normally give her a cheeky smile, but this time his face screamed that something was wrong and his adopted grandma caught on instantly.

"Mingi? Yunho? What happened?" she looked back and forth between the two.

"We need to take this inside" Mingi whispered. The Beta woman immediately stepped aside, allowing the couple to enter her home and protectively closed the door behind them.

It took about thirty minutes for the mates to explain everything and the woman was noticeably scared for them. "I'm not going to lie to you dear," she spoke softly as she grabbed Yunho's hands between hers. "This is not good. You two are in grave danger. After defying this city's orders, you can't be caught or you'll never see the light of day again."

Yunho trembled at her words, a tear slipping past his eyelids as he clenched them shut. He knew she was right. "W-what do we do?" He laid his head in his hands.

"You're going to have to run from Supreme City. You need to get as far away as possible." Yunho sobbed, the fear truly catching up with him.

"I'm assuming you already figured this" she turned her attention to Mingi. "That's why you're here right?"

The Alpha nodded. There was a specific reason he had come here. "I haven't had time to think of a plan, but then I remembered Grandpa's old trailer..."

The woman held up her hand. "Say no more. It's yours... and the truck. Your grandpa would have wanted you to have it someday anyway." She stood up from her couch, and exited the room. When she returned, she had an old set of keys in her shaking hands and handed them to her grandson. "I can help you stock it up with some food and some essentials, but that's the most help I can be."

"That's more than enough" Yunho stated before wiping the stray tears off of his cheeks with the backs of his hands. He didn't feel as though he deserved any help at all.

The three of them moved quickly to stock up the mini camper with everything they may need. Mingi rushed to inspect the truck and made sure it would be okay to drive long distance but ultimately decided that it would have to work. Luckily, it already had a full tank of gas so they should be able to get some distance behind them before they have to make a pit stop.

Mingi went inside the house one more time, seeing his mate with an armful of food containers, saying goodbye to the sweet, Beta woman. "Thank you Jia... for everything" he sighed between his words. He was sincerely grateful, but he was stressed.

She smiled, "Just know that you are a good Beta. You had good intentions, even if it was a bit reckless. You have a caring heart and anymore, it's rare to find that. I'm still so glad our Mingi met you."

Yunho blushed and looked down at the hardwood flooring, but he still doubted the truth behind all she had said.

"Alright grandma, we have to go." Mingi spoke, interrupting their private conversation.

"I know" the old woman sighed. She reached forward and cupped the young Alpha's cheeks, running her thumbs across his cheekbones, getting a good look at his face, knowing that this will be the last time she'll ever get to see her handsome grandson.

There were so many things that could be said, but neither one felt the need to say any of them. They knew it all already. Their relationship had always been like this.

She withdrew her wrinkled hands and patted his shoulder, leading them to the front door. "Take care and please... stay safe."

The Alpha and Beta couple nodded, saying goodbye one last time before making their way to the small pick-up truck that would pull their trailer, and hopping in the cab.

As they pulled on to the road, Jia watched and pulled her thin shawl around her even tighter, knowing what was to come. "Please, let them stay safe."

----------

The drive was quite, too quiet.

Yunho can't remember the last time where Mingi and him had absolutely nothing to say to one another. They were always the type of couple that could spend hours chatting away about absolutely nothing in particular but still find the conversation to be compelling.

But this was not one of those times. Since they fled from Sigma Mingi's barely been able to glance at the Beta, let alone speak to him.

They've already been on the road for over two hours, and the silence is torture.

The older picks at his thumb, keeping his gaze on his lap. He takes the chance and glances at the fuel gauge, taking notice that they were already close to empty. The tiny pick-up, hauling a trailer, doesn't do so well on gas mileage.

"We're going to have to make a stop here soon." Mingi sighed. He must've noticed Yunho looking and figured what the Beta was thinking. "If we can, I'd like to find a rest stop. We should be far enough out to park it just for the night."

Yunho only nodded.

It only took about another fifteen minutes before they were able to find a decently vacant rest stop. Mingi tried to act as natural as possible as he cautiously went inside to pay for the gas, while Yunho filled the tank.

Once they were able to park the trailer, the couple went inside and silently tried to get settled for the night.

The compact trailer was actually quite comfortable. It had a mini kitchenette against the wall when you walked inside. There was a bench and a small table for meals. And in the rear end of the cabin there was a queen sized bed. There was even a mini bathroom with a toilet and a shower if they needed.

Mingi has no idea if everything even worked, but his grandfather had taken pride in his mini trailer and was always trying to fix it up.

Yunho took the opportunity to finally settle into the bed, pulling the covers over his head and turning away from his mate's direction. He pretended to sleep, expecting to feel the mattress dip in next to him when his Alpha eventually decided to lay down for the night, giving him at least an ounce of needed comfort.

But his heart broke entirely when that comfort and reassurance never came, realizing that the younger opted to lay across the hard, cold dining bench instead.

This was definitely a filler chapter, so I know it's kinda slow. Bear with me, things will get better!
