Going Home
This was another dream I had, several times, it did not end this way until I was saved! It is told with no rhyme scheme, and is more of a prose verse.
The world around me is hazy;
dark, gray, and unusual.
What am I doing outside?
"Paula!" I yell for my wife.
She doesn't hear me.
A thunderous rumble from above.
I look—the sky is on fire!
My heart races!
Snakes of fire and smoke appear;
they meet the earth with violent force!
People run and scream in terror
as His wrath rains down upon us.
The earth moves beneath me.
I cower and grip my ears tight!
"Paula!"—she doesn't hear me.
I see my sister; she looks scared.
Running as fast as I can!
I cannot reach her!
She is kissed by a fiery snake
and reduced to ashes.
My heart stops;
I fall to my knees.
I could not save her.
I have nothing left but to cry out,
"God! Save me, please!"
Quiet; peace; calm.
I'm sitting with other people now
on the small bleachers of a little league baseball diamond—
my wife and kids are there!
The grass is a vibrant green; the clay a deep orange.
A man sits among us.
There is something about him;
a peaceful nature I cannot describe.
He tells us stories, and we calmly listen,
as fire rains down on the world around us.
Another thunderous crash; he smiles and looks up.
He points and we follow his gaze.
Anticipation fills the air.
Another thunderous crash—
as though the sky itself is splitting.
A glimmer appears above us
and grows into a golden symbol;
it spins rapidly, and shimmers brilliantly!
All is quiet around us;
we cannot hear the screams anymore.
With a resounding rumble.
the symbol suddenly locks in place.
Another gold symbol appears beside it,
spins around and locks in its place,
and that symbol is followed by a third.
The three then draw together, and meld,
to create a single united form;
a glorious, glimmering unison of golden light.
The earth goes deathly silent;
it's very breath stolen away.
We watch in awe as the united symbol
rains down a blinding shower of light—
all goes white.
I feel my body collapse; my soul soars—
I'm going home.
