In Wonder a boy named August has facial deformities. To some kids, he looks like an alien, or a zombie, or a monster. But the most shocking one of all was what a kid named Julian called him. A freak. Julian also started the pleage. Which was a game where if any kid touched August and did not wash their hands or wherever he touched quickly, they would die. But gladly, not every one participated in this hurtful game. Two kids named Jack and Summer, whom were August's only friends at that time, disagreed to this.

One Halloween, August was by Jack, Jillian, and some other kids. He had said he was going to where a star wars costume. But changed his mind at the last minute and went with the bloody scream from last year. So, the kids didn't know it was him. Then, he over heard their conversation.

Julian: "Dude, how can you stand hanging out with that 'freak'?"

Jack: "I can't. Mr. Tushman made me hang out with him and be buddies. I didn't want to let him down, so I accepted. But really, if I looked like Aggie, I would kill myself..."

From than on, August avoided Jack. He hung out with Summer instead. One night at a school project show, Jack asked Summer why August was not hanging out with him anymore. Summer didn't want to tell him because August said not to tell anyone. "I can't say." Was Summer's reply. "Come on, just a hint?" Jack had urged. "Fine." Summer had given in. But all she said was: "Bloody scream." And walked away. Jack was confused. For awhile, he didn't know what that ment. Until her finally realised what it ment.

A few weeks later, they were assigning partners for a science protect. Jack got August as a partner. When Jillian asked the teacher if he could have Jack as a partner, Jack said he want to switch partners. When they left the classroom, this happened:

Jillian: "What's the deal, dude?"

Jack: "I just don't want to switch parents, that's all."

Jillian: "Why not? I thought I was your friend. Am I?"

Jack: "I don't know anymore."

Jillian: "Well I bet I'm better than that freak known as August."

Then, Jack turned around and straight out punched Jillian in the mouth. He punched him so hard, blood came out.
