CHAPTER ELEVEN, girl meets bear

Lucas decided to stay for breakfast that morning. Mirabel's mother welcomed him with open arms and made sure he had plenty to eat. She also took a moment to pull him aside and tell him how much she appreciated his patience and understanding when it came to Mirabel. It meant the world to her, and she was confident that the two of them would have a wonderful future together.

"Mom!" Mirabel whines after noticing her mother's conversation with Lucas. "Don't embarrass me!" Her face was red with embarrassment, but there was a hint of amusement in her eyes as she watched her mother interact with Lucas. She couldn't help but feel grateful for her mother's support and encouragement, even if it did sometimes come in the form of embarrassing moments like this one.

Beatrix just laughs, patting Mirabel on the shoulder affectionately. "Oh, don't be silly, mija. I'm just speaking the truth." She winked at Lucas before turning back to the stove to finish cooking breakfast.

Mirabel rolls her eyes playfully, but there's a smile tugging at the corners of her lips. She couldn't deny the warmth that spread through her chest at her mother's words. It was comforting to know that she had her family's support in her relationship with Lucas. Lucas walks back over to her and sat by her. He wraps his arm around her shoulders, pulling her close and kissing the side of her head. "Your mom's pretty cool, you know that?" He said softly, grinning at her.

Mirabel scoffs, rolling her eyes again. "You've never had to live with her." She mumbled, her face still red with embarrassment. But she couldn't deny the fact that she was secretly pleased that her mother and Lucas got along so well. It was nice to know that he was accepted by her family, and it only made her love him even more. She already knew he was since he had been her bets friend her whole life, but it was different now that they were dating so she was happy to know that her parents approved of their relationship.

"Yeah, but she's pretty awesome." Lucas chuckles, nuzzling the side of her head. "She's really supportive of us, and that's all I could ask for. Mirabel smiles, leaning into Lucas' embrace. "Yeah, she is. And I'm glad you think so too." She says softly, her heart swelling with love for both Lucas and her mother. "I'm just grateful to have you in my life, Luke. You mean everything to me."

Lucas squeezes her shoulders gently, pressing a kiss to the top of her head. "And you mean everything to me, Bel. I love you more than anything in this world, and I'll always be here for you, no matter what."

She smiles softly, her heart fluttering as she leans her head on his shoulder. "I love you too, Luke. Thank you for being the best boyfriend ever."

"Thank you for being the best girlfriend ever." Lucas replied, his voice filled with affection.

Beatrix smiled to herself as she finished cooking breakfast, feeling a sense of warmth and contentment wash over her. She couldn't help but feel proud of the bond that Mirabel and Lucas shared, and she knew that they were destined for great things together. They had a love that was rare and precious, and she was certain that it would only grow stronger and deeper over time. And she couldn't wait to see where their journey would take them next.

****

During the afternoon, Mirabel had gotten a text from Maya saying that there was tacos from Paco's Taco's at Riley's place, she was eager to get over there. She and Lucas went there together since Maya had texted the groupchat and they had agreed to meet up there. As they got there, they met up with Zay and Farkle.

"You guys here for Paco's Tacos?" Mirabel beamed, her heart fluttering as Lucas' thumb continued to rub over her knuckles. They had held hands on the way to the apartment building after leaving his truck. Now that they didn't have to hide their relationship, it made her ecstatic and her stomach flip. She felt like they were in their own little bubble.

"I rather have pancakes." Zay admits, earning looks from the others. "What? I'm a pancake kind of guy. You gotta admit, pancakes are just the best."

"But it's Paco's Taco's day." Mirabel pouted.

Zay shrugs. "Yeah, but pancakes." He counters, making Mirabel groan. "Mira, we both know that there's nothing wrong with a good, old fashioned, pancake. You love them too."

"I do. But it's Paco's Taco's!" Mirabel whines. "You don't mess with the sacred tradition, Isaiah Babineaux. Pancakes are great, but we gotta keep the tradition alive."

"Okay, you're starting to sound like Maya now." Farkle chuckled.

Mirabel grins, not offended by the comment. "Maya taught me well. I'm not afraid to use it to my advantage. Besides, it's Paco's Taco's twenty-fifth anniversary twenty-five cent Tacopalooza! I ain't missing that." She said proudly, sticking her tongue out at Zay who was looking less and less pleased.

"I still want pancakes." Zay sighed, his expression morphing into one of defeat.

Mirabel giggles, looking at him with amusement. "Fine, we can get some later." She relented, and Zay instantly perked up, a bright grin spreading across his face.

"Yes! Thanks, Mira." He said happily, pulling her into a hug. She returned the embrace, laughing softly.

Lucas and Farkle just rolled their eyes, used to their friends' antics. They headed up to the Matthews' apartment and were greeted by the Matthews' and Maya. Riley had opened the door, looking at them with confusion.

"What are you guys doing here?" She asked.

"We were told there would be tacos." Lucas replied sheepishly.

"It's Paco's Taco's twenty-fifth anniversary twenty-five cent Tacopalooza!" Mirabel beams, her eyes sparkling with excitement. "Did you think I was going to miss out on that?"

"See? She gets it!" Maya exclaimed, gesturing towards Mirabel.

"Four tacos please." Farkle grinned.

"Uh, may I have pancakes?" Zay asked with a hopeful smile.

Mirabel shoots him a look, slapping his shoulder. "Hey, I told you I would get you pancakes later." She reminded him.

"I can't wait that long, Mira." Zay complained, rubbing his shoulder where she hit him.

Riley turns to look at Maya with surprise. "You called them here?"

"I invited them here. I wanted them to know what it's like to want a taco and not get a taco." Maya responded.

Mirabel's face fell at that. "No tacos?" She whimpers, her shoulders sagging in disappointment. "But it's Paco's Taco's twenty-five cent Tacopalooza!" She whines. "Why would you invite us here and not give us tacos? That's cruel, Hart."

"What could be worse than that, you-" Before Mr. Matthews could finish his sentence, the familiar sound of a festive Mexican horn plays on Maya's phone. Mirabel perked up slightly at hearing that, knowing it was Paco's Taco's infamous jingle.

Maya quickly pulls her phone out of her back pocket to check it. "The bobbleheads are gone!" At that announcement, both Maya and Mr. Matthews freaked out dramatically, dropping onto the couch and flailing around angrily before standing back up and acting like nothing happened.

"No Paco's Taco's and now no bobbleheads!" Mirabel complains, leaning her head on Lucas' arm. "Worst day ever." She grumbles. Lucas chuckles lightly, slight amusement evident in his features. He leans down to kiss the top of her head, squeezing her hand to comfort her. Butterflies swarmed her stomach at his affection and she feels her face grow warm. He always knew how to make her feel better. "Why are we really here?"

"Berry-the-bear-bear is missing!" Riley worriedly replied, upset that her childhood teddy bear was missing.

Mirabel lifts her head off Lucas' shoulder, furrowing her eyebrows. "Berry-the-bear-bear?"

"It's her teddy bear from when she was a kid. Also Auggie ate the face off it." Maya explained, causing Mirabel to raise her eyebrows with surprise and look at the younger boy.

Auggie sighs heavily. "Are we still on that?"

"So...We're all here to look for your childhood teddy bear that Auggie chewed the face off of?" Lucas asked for confirmation, looking at Riley with furrowed eyebrows.

"Oh boy." Mrs. Matthews mumbled as her daughter sent her younger son a death glare.

"Will we ever let that go?" Auggie asked with annoyance.

Mirabel's eyes widen, startled when Riley suddenly started screaming, looking frightened. "Riley, you good?" She asked cautiously, not sure how to react to the brunette's sudden outburst.

"Yeah, I was just remembering too hard." Riley frowned, taking a deep breath.

"I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry." Auggie repeats, getting off the arm chair of the couch he had been sitting on. He walks across the living room to the dining room slash kitchen. "I was just a little kid. I ate anything that got in my way."

"Auggie, it wasn't very nice to eat Riley's bear." Zay steps forward, standing by Riley. "And in fact, you would think in doing that, that would teach Riley not to eat someone's cookie." He said with frustration. Mirabel chuckled, slight amusement crossing her face.

Riley rolls her eyes and shakes her head. "Get off that."

"I do not wish to." Zay replied and walked away.

"That bear's been nothing but trouble for me my whole life. I just wanted you to play with me. I didn't do this!" Auggie defended him.

"Oh, yeah?" Maya walks over to him and interrogates him. "Then where were you the evening of the fifteenth?"

"I was out of town on business." Auggie replied.

"He didn't do it, guys." Maya shrugged as she stepped back.

"You know what? If this means this much to my daughter, let's respect her feelings. Let's find that stupid, faceless bear." Mr. Matthews grumbled.

"Y-You know, I-I would, but I-I got that big game with, uh, s-s-ports. Yeah." Farkle stuttered nervously, pointing over his shoulder at the door as he started to open the door. Mirabel looked at him weirdly, raising her eyebrow.

"Yeah, yeah, and I would too, but I got the, you know, the big-big science fair with, uh..." Lucas' voice trials off, not knowing what else to say. "I don't know." He admitted.

Mirabel giggles a bit, staring at the two boys with amusement. "You two are awful liars."

"Yeah, why did you two switch characters?" Zay agreed, looking at the boys with confusion. Mirabel noticed he was now sitting at the table in the dining room where Auggie was sitting next to him.

"We panicked!" Lucas confessed.

"We're gonna be trapped in here looking for a stuffed animal! We'll do anything to get out of it." Farkle added.

"I know. Who's up for a taco?" Lucas grinned, figuring that would be a good excuse to get the group to not do this. Maya and Mr. Matthews perked up at that while Mirabel's eyes lit up at that and she didn't hesitate to jump on his back, startling him. He quickly caught her legs and kept her from falling.

"Yes!" Mirabel cheers. "Tacos!"

"You lost, now get off of me, Bel!" Lucas laughed, setting her down on her feet.

Mirabel huffs, pouting at him. "Fine." She reluctantly said. She really wanted some tacos, she understood why Riley was freaking out about her bear, but she was starving and craving a taco. Lucas sent her a sympathetic look, wrapping his arm around her waist and pressing a kiss to the side of her head. She leaned into his touch, resting her head on his shoulder and looping her arm around his waist.

"Well, I'll stick around here as long as it takes because I am a supportive friend." Zay spoke up.

"Hey, Riley, what about just this once, I can be the unsupportive friend?" Maya asked hopefully as she got up and slowly backed up to the door.

"Absolutely. Live your lives. Oh, but before you go, one quick story." Riley dramatically replied as she stood on the small upper level in the kitchen slash dining room and folded her hands.

Maya came back inside since she had walked out to the hallway and she forces a smile. "Hey, a story." Mirabel looked at her sympathetically while the blonde sat on the couch. She knew how bad she wanted to go get a taco, she felt the same way.

"Once upon a time, there was a little, tiny Riley and she was given a bear." Riley started. She went on to say how the bear was given to her by her parents when she was sick. They had to go to work, but they told her that the bear was like as if they were with her throughout the day. She talked about how much the bear meant to her and how it was her constant companion, especially during the tough times. Mirabel couldn't help but feel a pang of empathy for Riley as she listened to her story. She understood how much sentimental value a childhood toy could hold, even if it was just a simple stuffed animal.

"And the little girl loved the little bear for the rest of her little life." Riley finished.

"Woah, great story!" Maya gets up with a smile, hoping to get them to leave to go get tacos now. "That was so good. Guys, let's go." She looks at Riley's parents, who were both in tears at the story. She notices, Mirabel, Lucas and Farkle were the same way. Mirabel and Lucas had sat down on a nearby chair and had Mirabel in his lap. Mirabel had her arms wrapped around Lucas' neck and was resting her head on his chest. He had his arms around her, holding her close. She looks over and notices Zay and Auggie hugging each other as they cried. Her heart sank as she realized she wasn't going to get tacos yet. "Oh no." She breathed out.

"We have to find that bear, you guys." Zay choked out.

"Oh no." Maya frowned. When the familiar festive Mexican horn plays, she grabbed her phone off the coffee table.

"Everybody has gone Taco loco! I don't think there's anybody in New York City that doesn't have one of Paco's Tacos!" The announcement spoke.

"You're wrong, Paco!" Maya cried out, setting her phone back on the coffee table.

"We have to find that bear, you guys." Zay repeated as he got up and immediately started searching with the others. The group spends the next few hours searching the apartment high and low for Berry-the-bear-bear. They checked under the couch cushions, in the closets, and even in the kitchen cabinets. They moved furniture and rummaged through boxes, determined to find the missing teddy bear.

****

Mirabel found herself in Riley's room with her and Lucas, helping them search for the bear. She had to admit Riley's room looked cute, but she didn't focus on that long before she kept searching for the bear.

"I can't believe the first time I'm in Riley's room, we're looking for a stupid, faceless, stuffed bear." Mirabel mutters. She heard Lucas chuckle softly at her comment and she grimaces at the glare Riley sent her. She sends Riley a sympathetic look. "Sorry. I gotta admit though, your room is super cute..." She admits, glancing around the room with a small smile. "When it's not looking like a tornado went through it." She added, her voice trailing off as she saw the mess. As Mirabel scanned the cluttered room, she couldn't help but feel a twinge of sympathy for Riley. The chaotic state of the room seemed to reflect the emotional turmoil that Riley was experiencing over the loss of her beloved teddy bear. Despite her initial jest about the mess, Mirabel understood that Riley's distress was genuine. She knew she wouldn't have been able to handle losing something important to her the way that Riley had.

"Thanks, I guess." Riley muttered, turning back to look at the mess.

"Hey, we're going to find your bear, Riles." Mirabel said gently, putting her hand on her shoulder. "We're not leaving until we do."

"Thank you, Mira." Riley smiled at her, appreciating the support.

Mirabel nods, squeezing her shoulder lightly. She steps back and turns to Lucas, who was going through a box of old clothes and toys. "Find anything yet, cowboy?" She asked him, earning a shake of the head from him.

"Not yet, Bel. What about you? Find anything yet?" Lucas replied, setting the box aside and getting up to walk over to her.

"No. Not yet. But we're not giving up." Mirabel told him. He nodded in agreement, smiling softly at her as he leaned over to kiss the side of her head. Her heart fluttered in her chest and her face warmed at the sweet yet simple gesture. No matter how many times he did it, it still made her stomach fill with butterflies.

"Hey, guys," Riley speaks up, gaining their attention and they glance over at her curiously. "Did you have anything from when you were a kid that you still hold on to?"

Lucas smiles softly at the memory as he nods. "One thing. It's kind of dumb though." He chuckled.

"What is it?" Riley asked curiously, smiling a little.

"When I was, like, four years old, my Pappy Joe gave me something called a sack of gold. It was a little canvas bag and it had draw strings to open it." Lucas explained. Mirabel smiled fondly when she remembered that. She had gotten one from Pappy Joe too and so did Zay.

Riley's eyes lit up. "Lucas, are we rich?" Mirabel giggled while Lucas chuckled.

"I thought I was." Lucas admits, walking over ot the bay window to flip down the seat that was open. Mirabel did the same to sit by his right side while Riley sat by his left. "I kept it for years. Then one day, I saw that Zay had his own little sack of gold too. And I said, 'Hey, Zay, you got a sack of gold?' And he said, 'Yeah.' And he opened it up, poured the whole thing in his mouth, chewed it and blew a bubble."

"It was bubblegum?" Riley realized.

"Yes, his was." Lucas nodded.

"Yours was real gold?" Riley questioned, tilting her head to the side.

"Yes, I believed it was. And I still believe it is. 'Cause I am never going to open up to find out any different." Lucas admitted with a small chuckle.

"I remember that," Mirabel confesses, her lips curving up into a smile. "Pappy Joe gave me one too."

"Did you open yours?" Riley inquired, looking at her curiously.

"Nope. Still believe it's gold." Mirabel admitted, smiling slightly. She was imaginative and curious growing up - still is - and she knew the moment she would open it, she would know it wasn't real gold. That was a part of the magic of believing, and she was reluctant to give up on that magic.

Riley smiles at that and nods. "Did you have anything else from your childhood you still hold onto, Mira?" She asked, looking at her curiously.

"Well, actually, yeah. My grandmother on my dad's side gave me something." Mirabel pulls out the necklace that was hanging around her neck and showed her the ring hanging off the chain. She reaches up to touch the pendant, her fingers tracing the intricate design of the ring. "It's a family heirloom. A ring that's been passed down through generations." She explains, a hint of pride evident in her voice. "It's not worth much monetarily, but it means the world to me because it's a symbol of my family's love and history."

Riley's eyes widens in awe as she leaned in to get a better look at the necklace. The ring was a delicate silver color and had an intricate pattern of swirls and flowers engraved into the metal. The ring had a simple black band and a beautiful blue stone in the middle. "Wow, that's beautiful, Mirabel." She murmurs, her voice filled with admiration. "It must be really special to you."

"It is." Mirabel nods, a soft smile playing on her lips. "My abuela gave it to me before she passed away. She told me it was a symbol of strength, resilience, and love. And whenever I wear it, I feel like she's with me, watching over me and guiding me through life's challenges." She glanced down at the ring, feeling her throat tighten slightly and her eyes sting. Despite the bittersweetness of the memories associated with the ring, it still filled her with a sense of warmth and comfort. It was a reminder that she was always connected to her family, no matter how far apart they were.

Lucas smiles softly at her, wrapping a comforting arm around her shoulders to comfort her. "Your abuela would be very proud of you." He remembered her abuela very well. She was always so kind and loving. She was warm and welcoming and she always had a way of making him feel at home. She had passed away when he was ten years old, but the impact she had on his life was immeasurable. And he knew how much she meant to Mirabel, so he couldn't even begin to imagine the pain she must have felt when she lost her.

Mirabel smiles slightly, leaning into his embrace. "Thank you, Luke. That means a lot." She murmured, her voice thick with emotion.

Riley smiled softly at the two, her heart warming at the sight. It was clear that they cared deeply for each other, and she was glad that Mirabel had found someone who made her happy. She admired their relationship and hoped maybe she would have one like it with Evan one day. She and Evan had been texting and facetiming a lot lately. And let's just say their parents weren't that happy when they found out they were talking since her dad and his mom had kissed when they were their age. But the more they talked, the more she liked him and the more she felt like she could see a future with him. And she didn't care what her parents thought, because she wanted to be with him. She shook her head, forcing herself to refocus on the task at hand. But she couldn't help but smile as she looked at the necklace Mirabel wore that now was on her shirt instead of behind it.

"It's funny about these things we hold on to and how life lets us know when it's time to let it go." Riley said softly.

"Yeah," Lucas agrees, glancing over at her with a small smile. "Sometimes it's just a little bag of bubblegum. But if the right person gives it to you, then it's gold."

****

The couple and Rily walks back into the living room when they heard Riley's, Uncle Josh, was there. He had came back from college to visit and do his laundry. "Barry-the-bear-bear? You lost it?" Josh asked with surprise, looking over at Riley with wide eyes.

"Yeah, but I think I'm ready to call Barry officially lost and head out for tacos." Riley admitted as she sat down at the table while the couple joined her.

Maya's eyes lit up and a big smile tugs on her lips. "No. Really? No."

"Tacos?" Mirabel perks up, grinning at Riley. "Okay, let's give up."

"No, no giving up." Josh argued, earning a glare from Mirabel.

"Yes, give up. Yes." Maya grumbled.

"We just want our tacos." Mirabel complained as she leaned her head on Lucas' shoulder. He chuckled softly and pressed a kiss to the top of her head.

"No, it's important we find it." Josh replied.

"Why?" Riley asked him with furrowed eyebrows.

"Uncle Josh!" Auggie excitedly shouted when he walked into the room.

"Mr. Auggie." Josh smiled brightly at him and hugged him while Zay and Farkle walked into the room.

"How's college?" Auggie replied.

"Oh, dude, you kidding? Dude, you kidding? Dude, the people, the parties, you kidding, dude?" Josh forced a smile, putting his hands on his hips after they pulled away from the hug. Mirabel looked at him with confusion, noticing he was acting weird. She had a feeling Josh wasn't having the best time at college.

"You want to stay here tonight?" Topanga offered as Auggie sat on the arm of the couch.

"Just tonight? How about forever?" Josh hopefully asked, plopping down on the couch with a frown.

"Has it been a rough adjustment?" Farkle inquired while he and Zay sat down at the table.

"It was a rough adjustment for us in high school." Maya commented, sitting on the couch by Josh.

"What about college?" Zay chimed in.

"You think you're ready. You think you're ready." Josh muttered.

"What's the matter, honey?" Maya asked in a funny voice.

"I wasn't ready!" Josh exclaims. "It's hard. I wasn't ready. My roommate and I, we don't get along at all. And I don't think it's my fault, I think it's his fault. He says 'schnoop-aloop' at the end of everything. Who does that? Now ask me a question." He rambled.

"What time is it?" Zay asked him.

"Eleven fifteen schnoop-aloop." Josh responded, standing up and wiggling his hips. "Ask me who I am."

"Who are you?" Farkle quired.

"I'm Schnoop-aloop's roommate. You know what people say when they see me? They say, 'Hey, that's Schnoop-aloop's roommate.' My name's Josh." Josh whines, causing them to look at him with pity. "How did this happen to me? I'll tell you how it happened. I grew up. You know what I know? High school is your last stop before you grow up. So, you don't give up on that teddy bear. You hang on tight. You find that bear." Maya pouts and looks at the ground sadly and Mirabel had done the same. "You understand what's important, Riley?" He asked, glancing at his niece.

"Yeah, I think I do." Riley admits. She looks over at the couple with a smile. "Guys?"

"After you." Lucas replied, gesturing for her to get up first. Riley smiled and got up to head back to her room and the couple followed her. Everyone got up and went back to work on searching for the bear.

****

"Riley?!" Mr. Matthews called out to his daughter and Riley walked out to the living room, followed by the couple who held hands.

"Yes?" Riley asked with raised eyebrows.

"Where have you guys been? We haven't seen you in a half an hour." Zay queried.

"An hour." Maya argued.

"Half an hour." Zay corrected her.

"I don't get it!" Maya complained.

"Riley found what we needed to find." Lucas explained.

"Yeah, we found out that we were looking in the wrong place, so then we looked in the right place." Riley smiled.

"You found the bear?" Farkle asked her.

"No." Riley shakes her head. "You find the bear?"

"No. Sorry." Farkle replied, sending her an apologetic look.

"Remember when Auggie wanted to give up Mr. Googly and grow up?" Maya inquired, sitting on the couch near Auggie.

"But then I didn't. I wasn't ready." Auggie confessed.

"Yeah, good for you." Maya smiles softly at him and rubs his back. "But at some point, I think we are ready."

"How do we know when that is, Maya?" Auggie questioned.

"I think something inside us tells us. I think it actually comes to tell us." Maya stands and walks over to Riley. "Riles...I don't want to let you down, but I...Think your bear is gone."

"Yeah," Riley nods, taking ahold of her hand and smiles softly. "I don't want to let you down either." She glanced over at the couple, who got the hint and stepped back into the hallway.

When they came back out into the room, they were holding bags from Taco Pacopalooza. "So we got you this." Riley grinned.

Mirabel grinned from ear to ear as she and Lucas mimicked the festive horn that always played when there was a notification on their phones from Taco Pacopalooza.

"Tacos!" Maya and Mr. Matthews shouted excitedly.

Mirabel and Lucas walk over to the table and set down the bags. She continues to grin as she got her taco out of the bag. She was so excited, she had been waiting all day for this. Lucas couldn't help but look at her with amusement and fondness. He loved seeing her smile and her excitement was infectious. Mirabel followed Lucas over to the bay window area in the living room. They sat on the upper level by Zay and Farkle while they ate their tacos. Mirabel moaned quietly, chewing on the taco she was eating. The taste was pure bliss.

"This is definitely worth the wait." She commented.

Lucas chuckles and smiles fondly at her. "I'm glad you're enjoying your food, darlin'." He replied. She was always cute, but even more so when she was so excited about something.

Her cheeks flush at the nickname, that was a new one. He had never called her that before. But she liked it. She looked up at him, meeting his gaze and his expression was soft. He had a warm, adoring smile on his lips. Mirabel smiled softly back, her heart pounding in her chest. He made her feel so loved and cherished. It was a feeling she couldn't describe. She had never felt this way about anyone before. She was so thankful to have this boy in her life and to be able to call him her boyfriend.

"I love you." She murmured, her cheeks flushing deeper.

His smile widens and his eyes sparkled with affection. "I love you too, darlin'." He leaned over to kiss her cheek, lingering a little longer than necessary. She bit her bottom lip to hide her smile and looked up at him. His smile was almost goofy and his cheeks were tinted pink. Mirabel giggled, unable to keep the silly smile off her face. Lucas chuckled and wrapped an arm around her waist, pulling her closer to his side. Mirabel smiled and rested her head against his shoulder. She felt so content and at ease in his arms. Mirabel looked over at the couch where Riley and Maya were at, chuckling when she saw Maya hugging a bobblehead close to her. She knew Maya would be thrilled that they managed to get her one of those. Riley had to cry to get one, but they eventually got one for her.

"So, Riley, we're not gonna keep looking for the bear?" Auggie spoke up.

"He knew it was time to go." Riley replied with a small smile.

"He knew that you didn't need him anymore." Lucas agreed as he stood up along with Mirabel, intertwining their hands together. Zay and Farkle got up and followed them over to the girls on the couch.

"So he waited till you were asleep and kissed your eyelashes goodbye." Maya added and Riley smiled softly.

"Grabbed his tiny travel hat and his little suitcase and he thanked you for your years together." Zay chimes in. "And he told me to tell you he forgave you for eating one of his cookies." Mirabel chuckled along with Riley at that, glancing at Zay with amusement.

"Then he hopped out the bay window and got on the G-Train to Beartown." Farkle concluded.

"I think that's exactly what happened." Maya voiced with a bright smile.

"Thank you, everybody." Riley said softly, smiling at everyone.

"That's what we're here for." Lucas assured her.

Riley stands and walks over to Auggie. "Hey, Auggie?"

"Yeah?" Auggie asked.

"It's a great story that you chewed his face off because you wanted to hang out with me and Maya." Riley responds while the others followed her into the dining room and kitchen, sitting at the table. "Never lose that, okay?"

"Okay." Auggie smiles and glances at Maya, who had sat down at the table, placing him on her lap. "Can we hang out?"

"No, get out of here." Maya replied, but she didn't really mean it. Mirabel chuckled and rested her head on Lucas' shoulder as he wrapped his arm around her waist.

"You know what? I think it's time I got out of here." Josh admitted.

"What happened to forever?" Mrs. Matthews questions, smiling at him when he sent her a look. "I'll get your laundry." She reassured him and left the room.

"Josh, you can stay here as long as you'd like." Mr. Matthews reassured his brother.

"Yeah, you can." Maya quickly agreed.

"I know. Thank you, but looking at you guys, I just get this feeling that there's some good friends to be made back at my dorm." Josh confessed.

"With Schnoop-aloop?" Auggie inquired with a small grin.

"Maybe Josh just needs to get to know him better." Riley shrugged.

"Maybe I just need to let them get to know me a little bit better." Josh commented.

"Yeah, you know, you're not a bad guy at all." Zay told him from where he was leaned up against the wall.

"Oh, yeah?" Josh raised his eyebrows at him when he looked back at Zay.

Zay dramatically gestured with a nod of his head for Josh to follow him. Mirabel giggles a bit, watching with amusement as Josh did the same and walks over to him. "Thank you, Zay." Josh said.

"You're welcome. And I'm glad that you and Maya decided that you might be right for each other someday and you'll fly to the moon and all that." Zay responded. Maya stood, walking over to the two with raised eyebrows.

"Oh, yeah?" Josh smiled a little, tilting his head to the side.

"Yeah. Very sophisticated. Now here what I was thinking back here on Earth. Hey, Maya, uh..." Zay glances over at Maya. "Mirabel and Lucas are going out on dates and Riley is chatting with Evan and Lucas and Mirabel aren't gonna think anything at all about ditching one of their best friends-"

"We're not ditching-"

"You abandoned me for each other." Zay interrupted Lucas with a pout.

Mirabel chuckles a little and shakes her head. "Zay, you know you're always welcome to hang out with us."

Zay waves his hand dismissively and looks at Josh. "And if you really care about her like you say, then you don't want to see her thinking so much about later that she misses now. Do you?" He continued.

Josh is quiet for a few moments as he thinks about his answer before replying with, "No." Maya looks at him with surprised. "What do you have in mind?" Josh asked Zay.

"Yeah, what do you have in mind?" Maya repeated, looking at Zay curiously.

"You helped me not feel like an outsider. There's a lot that's probably gonna happen to us," Josh steps back as Zay stands in front of Maya. "And I'll probably be stupid. But...What's not stupid is you, her, and her." He adds, pointing at Maya, Riley, and Mirabel. The three girls share a smile at that. "And I never want you to feel like a third wheel when...Mirabel and Lucas are gazing into each other's stupid, stupid eyes and when Riley won't stop talking to Evan." Zay rambled. Everyone glanced at the couple to see that's exactly what they were doing. "So, I want you to know that I'd be happy to sit next to you, next to them, at the movies, so we could all be together." He glances over at Josh. "That alright with you? I don't care. Is that alright with you?"

Josh smiles, looking at him with amusement. "Well, I think that's up to Maya." He glances over at Maya with a soft smile. "'Till next time?"

"'Till next time." Maya returned the smile.

"You wanna go to the movies, darlin'?" Lucas asked Mirabel with a fond smile.

"I'd love to, baby." Mirabel grinned at him, squeezing his hand that was intertwined with his.

"Evan and I are planning on going to the movies this weekend." Riley giggled as she looked at her phone that had the texts she had with Evan pulled up. Her father grimaced and groaned dramatically before he left the room.

"Want to go to the movies?" Zay quires as he smiles at her. "I just like sitting next to you."

"Yeah." Maya replies, returning the smile. "Yeah, okay. Thank you for asking."

"You want to go to the movies?" Auggie questioned, glancing at Farkle.

"What?" Farkle looked at him with surprise, not expecting him to ask that while the others watched the two with amusement.
