//part 2 of the soulmates/reincarnation au thing

KOU POV
It all started after that kiss. I was infatuated with Sousuke. I started having obscure dreams about us. Some of them were sweet and others were like my worst nightmares coming true. Mitsuba dying or me dying wasn't uncommon in these dreams. Sometimes it was kind of spectacular or mesmerizing. One time I pushed him out of the way of a truck and got hit myself. I didn't feel upset about it at all and maybe that scared me a little.

If I didn't die in these dreams then he did. If he didn't die then I did. Some of them were horrifying. The most vivid and probably worst dream was watching Sousuke jump off of a building before confessing his love and saying that he couldn't be gay. That one stung a lot for some reason. All of these crazy dreams made me think that they actually happened at some point, but there's no way of knowing that for sure.

My ancestors were all exorcist and that's not something I've told Sousuke yet, because I'd have no idea if he would ever believe me. I think I was given this power to see apparitions to protect people so that's what I'm going to try and do.

MITSUBA POV
I've been having the strangest dreams since kissing Kou. I could never tell anyone about them though. Kou might think I'm crazy if I told him. I already probably owe him. Wait- I haven't seen him since he got suspended last week. Should I make him something? I suck at baking, but maybe my mom could help. He's such a dork, liking potato jellies is weird for people our age. I guess I'll attempt it though.

NORMAL POV
Kou was so happy to come back to school. The middle schoolers had a bunch of respect for him. Apparently the guy he beat up was a notorious asshole. He was expelled, after Mitsuba confessed everything he did. One day Mitsuba was probably going to have to tell Kou everything too.

Today was different. Today Mitsuba got to school early and left the sweet potato jellies he made with his mom on his desk with a note that really just said 'Thanks for everything Kou. -Sousuke' on it. He laughed and ran back to the middle school. He was so happy that he was going to be a high schooler soon too. Then he could see Kou even more.

Kou got to class and was pretty surprised when he saw a bunch of notes and presents on his desk. Some of which were from girls that he didn't even know, saying it was brave of him to stand up to that bully and they admired him. He was flattered but all he could think about was how Mitsuba was doing. They texted each other a lot, but didn't get to see him.

He put the notes and stuff in his backpack, before reading the one Mitsuba left. He was blushing as one of his friends Yokoo walked by. "Wow Kou- someone's gotten popular. You only just back from suspension too. I'm jealous." He nudged his shoulder. "So which girl do you like huh? Is it the pink haired one?" Yokoo stuck his tongue out. Kou blushed profusely. "Hey maybe okay.. but uh.. the thing is Mitsuba is a guy.." Kou said a bit nervous about telling Yokoo. "So what? He's a freaking cute dude." He teased Kou and took his seat.

Kou was pretty confident now that he had some sorta support from one of his best friends. He was going to confess to Mitsuba properly. There was no way he was letting him go now, especially after that letter.

After school Kou and Sousuke met at their usual spot to where they would both walk home. Today felt different then most though. The tension was there for sure and both teenagers very obviously needed to talk to the other. "I'm sorry!" They both blurted out still the same time.

"Wait, why are you sorry Kou..? You got suspended because of me. I should've just told you what was going on. I was just afraid that when you found out.. you maybe.. wouldn't want me anymore.." the pink haired teen said looking down and feeling a bit ashamed.

"That's.. I mean that's so far from the truth Sousuke. I don't mind doing what I did at all.. and I guess I got something really nice out of it too." He said blushing softly. "I mean.. I didn't expect you to kiss me like that. I didn't have a clue you felt the same way about me." He said flashing him a bright smile and holding both of his hands. "Actually.. Sousuke I was wondering if you wanted to go out sometime with me..?"

Mitsuba was an absolute blushing mess. Who did Kou think he was suddenly confessing like that? Wait no- that's not what he was thinking, His heart was literally doing flips. The guy he had been in love with for the past year just asked him out. The guy that saved him in so many ways. Did he actually deserve to be this happy?

"I- I guess so and um.. Are we going out now?" Sousuke asked still blushing like crazy.

"If you want to- It'll be fun. Plus, soon enough me and you are gonna both be in high school. That means I'll be able to see you more too." Kou said blushing faintly and smiling before pulling his, now, boyfriend close and hugging him. Somehow this was more embarrassing then their kiss to Mitsuba. They just held each other like that for awhile, not really caring about anything else happening around them. Everything felt so perfect and for awhile it truly felt like both of them were going to be okay.

From now on, I'm going to protect you.
