After four days, I've received tons of voicemails and messages from Jungkook and his friends. Most of them are just messages asking where I am, or if I'm okay, nothing special.
I needed time to think about what happened these past few days. I thought she was the one who followed me the other night but I don't have any proofs of that. But how did I not have any single clue that she has an ulterior motive against me?
What are the signs that I missed aside from calling me muffin? Because of her, she ruined my special love for that bread.
I was so furious that I wished that I'll never get to see her face ever again. I'm weak, I know that, but I'm not going to hesitate at punching her in the face with my boney fist.
Today, Jungkook's voicemail got my attention to the point that I'm already taking a bath to pay a visit to their house. He told me that the case was already settled and my ears can't believe what it just heard.
He won a case against his aunt in a span of four days. How did it happen that it only took him four days?
He told me he has connections, his family has connections. I never thought they're that big.
I didn't tell him that I'm coming over. I've come up with a conclusion to leave things the way they should be.
If Jungkook knows that I'm a guy, then it'll be a piece of information that I'm going to protect for the rest of my life. I'm worried that his fear for us women might return if he will know my true identity and I can't afford that to happen ever again.
Besides, I'm returning to Seattle for college in January, I won't be staying here for long anymore. It's time to cut ends and I should enjoy the bits of it while I still have time.
I'm not going to let an old hag ruin my relationships with people who treat me as a friend.
I chose a thick shirt layered with a sweatshirt and another coat before wrapping a scarf around my neck. For my legs, I chose two leggings underneath a thick pants. As for my footwear, since all I have for winter basically screams women I checked my dad clothes but nothing fits me. Therefore, I stick with my sneakers.
I used the backdoor of our house to go outside. It's always a habit of mine to circle around the Jeon's house from behind before knocking onto their doors. Just in case someone sees me, at least they saw me coming from a different direction.
The cold weather slows me down, but I managed to walk as fast as I can.
"You have a thing for backdoors, don't you?" I stopped at my tracks upon hearing a familiar voice. I looked at him and he is holding a stick of cigarette in between his two fingers.
"Yoongi! What are you doing here?" I asked with a face that is unsure of what to do if he questions me.
"I should be the one asking you that question," He stands up, his hands inside the pockets of his jacket. "We've been contacting you for days and you're going to show up at Jungkook's backdoor." He tossed the remains of his cigarette at the snow before stomping at it.
"I'm just..." I don't know what to say. I looked at his eyes and he seems really serious. Did he saw where I came from?
Then he suddenly burst into laughter. "What's funny?" I furrowed my eyebrows.
"What's wrong with you?" He chuckled even more. "You look really startled, I'm just kidding!" He taunts me.
I look at him with burning flames in my eyes but he still won't stop laughing at me. "C'mon, c'mon, Taehyung's waiting inside." He swings his arm on my shoulder before guiding me inside the house through the backdoor.
"Look who I found stalling at the back!" Yoongi announced making everyone's head turn to us.
"Deonne." My eyes immediately glanced at Jungkook who is holding a glass of wine in his hand.
"Hi." I awkwardly greeted.
"You came!" Taehyung came rushing towards me and gave me an unexpected hug.
"Yes, I did." I forced a giggle but when Taehyubg breaks away from the hug he continued looking at me with a wide boxy smile plastered on his face like he is waiting for something.
I shifted my gaze at the other guys and it happened that it landed on Jimin's. He mouthed the words "It's his birthday today." and there I finally got a clue.
"Happy birthday our favorite big guy!" I faked a laugh and patted Taehyung's back. I heard Jimin snorted but I chose to ignore it.
I was expecting that they will start treating me coldly because I ignored them for days but instead, they made me feel a lot better. They know that something happened to me and I'm glad that they're not bringing it up.
The sun went down already before the guys left the Jeon's house. Jungkook asked for me to stay for a while because he told me that we have some matters to discuss.
"By the way, where's your dad?" I asked him the moment Namjoon stepped out of their house.
"He's at the city, working on something." He replied. "So, shall we start?" I bopped my head before sitting down on the couch.
By the looks of him, I think he knew something else because of filing a case against his aunt. Could it be?
"Is there something I should know?" He arched his left eyebrow at me as he sits on the arm of the couch.
He knows already.
"I'm sorry... I just wanted-"
"I walked you to the bus stop but according to my mother's sister, you were not going home, that's why she saw the chance to snuck up onto you." He cuts my nervousness off.
Oh.
"Tell me, where were you going that night?" He demands.
Think of an answer, quick! I fidgeted my fingers as I think of an answer while looking down on the floor.
"Oh, uhm, my phone." I blurted out and made eye contact with him again. "I placed my hands on my pockets that time and I didn't felt that my phone was there... so I searched every pocket that I have and then... I remembered that I left it in your... couch?" I hope I got it right.
"Oh, yeah. You left it there." I heaved a sigh of relief. "And then what happened next?"
"Someone behind the tree caught my attention. I thought she needed help so I came to her aid, not knowing that it was just a trap."
He told me that he talked to aunt Hyelin in private about what happened and that we both told the same story. "She's going to rot in jail," Jungkook announced.
"Already?"
"Yeah, we have all the evidences and people that we need." He vaguely shared information which made my eyebrows knitted together. "When I was young we went to the hospital to get me checked because of what happened. I still have the results that proved she molested me when I was young. Yoongi's dad, he's a judge and Yoongi asked him a favor. While the lawyer is Jin's dad."
I never knew that the family of his friends are that superior. Lawyer, a judge, and a doctor. I was told Mr. Jeon manages a company, he must be a CEO of something. That's why this case was treated like a VIP.
"Apparently, according to Jimin's reports, there are numbers of people victimized by her in Nelson."
"He went to Nelson?!" I shrieked. That's a bit far from here.
"Yep," He said, popping the 'p'. "He was with Hoseok anyways, they both love road trips. They asked those people to be a witness and they brought them here."
"How come they said yes?"
"You never know how persuasive they can be." He smirked.
"Oh, okay," I muttered. "Can I ask you something?" He nods his head as an answer. "Did you told the officials about what happened to me?"
"As much as I want to, I can't. I made a promise to you."
"Thank you, for keeping that promise," I said. I wish his dad did what he did when he was still young. His aunt's poor innocent victims increased because they didn't take action.
Nevertheless, she's in jail now and we're all safe. "What did your mother said?" I asked.
"She begged to stop the case, but I told her that I will not." I smiled at him while saying those words. He really has changed. He became more courageous. "So she left again, a thing she's very professional at. Leaving."
"I really thought your aunt changed, she was nice for days, she even wrote you a short letter and then this happened."
"She didn't write me a letter, I made it all up." He started, "The paper she gave me is filled with, obscene drawings."
"What?!" I exclaimed.
"That time you saw me crying when she climbed up in my room unannounced, she didn't talk to me. She threatened me by getting onto you. If I behaved like a real man, she promised she won't touch you and this still happened."
I don't understand. Therefore, Jungkook healed on his own, not because his aunt and him reconciled. I thought it was a huge factor why he changed, but it's because his aunt used me as a leverage.
He braved himself... for me.
"I don't know what to say, but I'm really thankful for you. I owe you one." I muttered.
"It's nothing, besides, I also wanted to send her in jail for a long time already." He sighed. "I'm so stressed," He suddenly muttered.
"Do you like anything?" I asked.
"You said you owe me right?" A smirk eventually stretched into his face and I didn't liked it.
Are we going to dance again?
"Let's go to the arcade." He says like a cheery child.
"Tonight?"
"Yeah, why not?" He then grabs something in his pocket. "I got dad's bus pass." He boasted and I laughed.
"Okay, c'mon."
=====
The rest of the night in the arcade was ecstatic, Jungkook apparently sucks in every game. He reasoned out that he is failing because it was his first time again in a place like this.
I eventually believed what he said when he started beating me in games.
We were having fun, like what normal friends do. He even treated me foods and made sure that I do not put myself into danger, especially my head.
Why are you like this to me Jungkook?
If only wishes do come true.
I'd wish a happy ending for me and you.
