Women In The 1940's
In Victorian England, we didn't get a proper education.
We stayed at home, and we learnt such things
As cooking, sewing, singing, and playing instruments.
Since at the time, this was what was expected.
We were raised to be housewives.
To raise children.
To keep the place clean.
And now, in the 1940's, whilst we get an education
The outcome is still the same.
We're expected to graduate high school.
We're allowed to go to college.
Yet many of us don't.
There's no qualification for staying at home cleaning, after all.
During the war, lecture halls were filled with men.
Women don't really do undergraduates
Or, even rarer, a graduate.
We marry and clean and raise children
Because that's what society expects.
