I.

Hera Louvair was a notable damsel. Like all women, she was prim and proper. Listened to her parents, did her chores, went to school and stayed obedient.

But Hera held a secret. A summer romance. Going to the countryside for a trip, she stumbled across a fluffy haired boy with glasses and arguably the most perfect smile she had ever seen.

Little did she know, he would be her undoing, and she would become the object of his desires. His secret, someone only he could want, he could dream about, someone who only he could desire. That is until she stepped foot onto the stone ground of Voltaire High, the September of 1963 with 20 other girls.

To say Joseph Descamps was shocked is an understatement, to say he was filled with jealousy, anger, and even excitement would be the correct answer.

After all, Hera could only be his.

So once again, they continued their game of cat and mouse. He would run, and she would chase, except this time... it was different.

This time he would have to prove to her against the entire student body how much he wanted her. This time, he was the cat, and she was the mouse.

Yet, she was the one who held the power.

II.

Joseph Descamps was an obsessive, cruel and selfish individual. But not that summer.

For possibly the first time, Joseph played his cards at being a nice quiet boy and to his total shock he rewarded for it. That summer Joseph Descamps was a different person, not the boy who ruled his school and was the class bully, rather a boy who loved poetry. A boy who loved to go on picnics, and gave the loveliest girl (he had ever seen) a flower every day.

That Joseph Descamps was unrecognizable, that Joseph Descamps was his secret. His secret that would never come out, only to be replayed in his mind and her.

Hera. No one would ever know.

No one would ever know the girl who changed his heart that summer and broke it the next. So when he finds out girls will be attending the school, he is less than thrilled but excited about some new faces. Never in his life would he have ever thought Hera would be there.

Never did he ever think he would see her again.

The only question he asked himself at that moment was, Could he leave her again?
