This is fan-freakingtastic!

I slide behind a hollow log, my palms and knees burning.

Son of a-

I look down to see that my clothes now are even more torn and now they are getting bloody. My palms are also coved up in cuts and bleeding.

"Damn, I've fudged up... maybe I should have listened to, Erik." I pad down my pockets in a moment of worry but then I feel the cold touch of the blade against my fingers and I sigh in relief.

I pull the blade from my pocket and examine it, it was Ara's blade, her favorite blade. And I was hoping that I wouldn't have to use it.

Three weeks ago.

The night is still with the few accessions of the guards walking the perimeter of the castle as usual. I nod at the few that do pass me on my way towards the entrance. I try and not to be nervous but I am certain that they could smell my fear.

I make it to the door and take a breath, trying to take out one of the wolves was a task that I didn't want to face.

Suddenly I hear footsteps approaching.

I turn to see Ara stepping out of the shadows.

"Bella..."

"You're not going to sneak out making this much noise and you reek of nervousness." she says approaching me, a shawl of some sort pulled around her shoulders.

I chuckle nervously. "Noticed that, huh?"

"How could you not?" She stops in front of me, her black hair glinting in the moonlight and for the first time her hair was loose and she didn't have her eye patch on, one section of her hair covering that eye. "I heard about your plan and it looks as if you're going to do something stupid."

I smile. "Concerned about me are we?"

I see a slight blush color her cheeks as she faces away from me. "What gave you that ridiculous notion..." she sighs and then turns back towards me. "I'm just trying to stop you from doing something that could be potentially hazardous to your health."

"Ah ha! So you are concerned!" I tease.

She slightly glares and then pulls something from under neath her shawl, the blade glimmering coldly in the night light. "If you have to go, at least take this with you."

I look at it, this was her own personal weapon, one I had never seen her part with for anything.

She shakes it impatiently.

I take it gently. "Are you sure? I've never seen you part with this weapon of all the days you've been here." I look at the intricacy put into the detail of the blade swirling lines and flowers engraved on it. The hilt is rapped in leather and worn but obviously kept with great amount of care.

"It was my mother's..." She says.

I hold it back towards her. "I can't take this."

She comes closer to me and closes my hand tighter around it, both of her hands around mine. "It's to make sure that you come back, since you have it you'll have to come back or I'll hunt you down."

I smile. She could be so sweet and I don't know why she didn't show anyone else that, though because of her past I think that she's afraid of being hurt.

I take the chance and peck her lightly on the cheek.

She stares at me with a wide expression and I can tell she's deciding whether or not to string me up or slap me silly.

"For good luck." I tell her grinning.

A blush crosses her cheeks again. "Go. I'll distract the guards."

I bow slightly. "As you wish my queen."

"Just go." She hisses.

I begin heading away from her.

"And make sure you come back..." She whispers so quietly that I almost didn't hear it.

I smile, slipping away under the cover of the night.

I look at the blade again and then put a small kiss to it. I'm sorry that it's taking so long, Bella. I'll be back soon.

I place it back in my coat pocket and then rap both of my palms in cloth that I had torn from the bottom of my pants. After making sure that the coast is clear I continue making my way through the forest, trying to make it into the town before day break came and they could more easily see me, though I doubt it would be a problem for them. But the one thing I knew is that they wouldn't try anything in broad daylight.

Finally I am able to see the night touches of the small town ahead, the sun just starting to light up the night sky.

I listen behind me and again I hear the shuffling that signals that they are behind me again.

Damn!

I begin sprinting down the hill that led to the small town trying to focus on tripping on a stone or log covered in snow and ice that could possibly cause me to slip, fall, and then break my neck.

Based on my luck so far I wouldn't be surprised if it happened to me.

I try and catch my footing as I reach the dirt trail leading in to the down, not that I helped that it was currently covered in snow. I search around quickly and something catches my attention or rather someone waving towards me.

"Over here! Quickly!" the person hisses.

I was hesitant about going towards the person, but then I thought about what was behind me.

They can't be worse than what's behind me, at least I'll be able to take this person if they decide to do something.

I run over in the general direction that the person disappeared and I am pulled quickly inside of a dark alley, the person making me crouch and putting one finger up to their lips as a signal to be quiet. I couldn't see any features because they are wearing a hood, but proportionally the person looked a lot skinner, if that was possible, and a little shorter than me.

After a few minutes I hear growling and voices quietly talking amongst themselves about where I could have possibly gone. After about thirty minutes the area becomes dead silent.

The person pokes their head out slowly for a moment and then they stand up. "They're gone."

I let out a sigh of relief and join the person out in the middle of the street, the sun now better lighting the surrounding area.

The person pulls back his hood revealing short bright red hair, green eyes, and freckles.

He cant be any older than fourteen or fifteen...

"Thanks for the help, kid. What's someone your age doing out here this time of night or rather day?"

He smiles, his eyes sparkling mischievously. "I could ask you the same, old man. You look like you've been rolling around in the mud with a pig."

I smile, this kid has spunk.

He holds out his hand to shake. "The name's Jay."

I take it. "Winston, nice to meet you Jay."
