Chapter Twenty-Five: Orion

Orion's eyes for those of you who were curious.
////////////////////////////////////////////
The moment was finally here all of the stressing of planning this event comes down to nothing. All of the packs had been settled into their section of the castle, the air was also filled with a lot of apprehension due to the fact that mates could probably find each other tonight.

A prospect for which I was also immensely excited.

"Brother!"

I turn to see my sister coming towards me her dress fluttering behind her the light grey dress turning darker as it reached the bottom. It was a little bit more form fitting than I would like on her.

"Jewels..." I say smiling as she runs into my arms.

She pulls back her pink eyes glimmering excitedly. "What do you think about my dress? How do I look?"

"You look beautiful," I scowl playfully. "Though I'm a little skeptical about the fitting of the dress. They didn't have anything that was more loose fitting?"

She pouts and sticks her tongue out at me, her arms crossed.

"Beta Orion!"

I turn around from my sister who's still sulking and see Bridge approaching both of us. "Bridge,"

"Beta." He nods and then he turns to my sister and his eyes dart around. "Jewels..."

My sister smiles brightly upon seeing him. "Bridge!" she twirls immediately showing off her dress. "How do I look?"

He looks away from her and I can see a slight blush come across his cheeks. "You look beautiful..." he mumbles.

She laughs and then places a kiss on his cheek. "I'm glad you think so..."

If those two aren't mates then the sun doesn't rise in the morning. and I'm saying this as her older brother. I approved of Bridge I knew that he would take care of her and protect her even when she didn't wanted because she was completely capable of it herself.

His blush intensifies upon this action.

My sister just giggles happily.

"Jewels! come on back it's almost time!" Says Ara's voice as she appeared in the hallway in a dress.

Which was really uncommon so I couldn't help but stare.

The dress was a midnight blue with a sweet heart neckline that was connected to a lace coverup that gave it long sleeves it was very tight fitting and there was a slit down the side, where I'm sure there was a weapon hidden. Her hair had been styled into an elegant bun and her make up done lightly, but what was most shocking of all is that she didn't have her eye covering on, the make up covered the scar though her eye still contained the damage and was a bright blue.

She smirks as she sees me. "See something you like?" she twirls a little like my sister did and it turns out that the dress was back less and reached far down her back but was also covered by the lacy material.

"You, you look great Ara... beautiful truly." I tell her.

She looks away from me. "The only reason I'm dressed up like this is because Amelia asked me too... I couldn't disobey the order."

I smile. This girl was the same as always, but I could tell she was enjoying being a little dolled up. "I meant what I said, and I know if Winston was here he would say no different. In fact I think that he would try to beat up the person who would dare say any different."

At the mention of his name, I see her cheeks glow red faintly, she closes her eyes crossing her arms and sighing. "Let's go, Jewels..." she says walking away.

"Right..." She smiles at me and Bridge before running off to catch up to Ara.

I nudge Bridge after my sister disappears. "A little starstruck, eh?"

He glowers. "Let's just get to the Alpha." With that he walks off.

I chuckle.

The main ball room where the event had been decorated lavishly, the last time I remember it looking like this was maybe for one of the Prince's birthday party's when we were younger. But this was on a whole different scale, there were members from every pack in here for the chance to find a mate as well as celebrate the fact that the Prince was able to claim his future Luna and is now able to show her off to the world.

Though something about it just seemed off, if there was one thing that I was certain of it was that Milla and Erik are... were supposed to be mates. Just the way he would look at her, the way they looked at each other was the way that I hope would be able to be looked at and in turn my mate as well.

But those marks she has now... They've seemed to change everything.

"Orion."

I turn to Erik approaching me.

"Alpha." I say nodding.

"Is everything in place?" he asks briskly.

"Of course, all of them know where there rounds are, they should be at their stations now."

He nods.

I frown. "Erik are you alright? You look like you're about to be sick... this is a joyous day."

Before he can respond, Ara and Jewels join us.

"Alpha..." Says Ara.

"Arabella, Jewels." He greets.

Ara looks at me shiftily.

I shrug.

"So is she getting ready to come down?" I ask.

Jewels nods excitedly. "She looks so beautiful, I've never seen anyone look like that... there are no words you have to see it for yourself!"

I see Eric tense up slightly.

Before I can address him, I am again interrupted by the court jester announcing the arrival of their majesties. The Queen, King, and Prince arrive the King carefully leading his mate down the stairs. For a forty year old woman the queen always looked to be in her prime.

The room becomes silent as the king begins to speak. "Welcome, friends, family, honored members of the council. I'm happy to have you here on the most joyous of days, this day was originally meant for my sons crowning ceremony, but has now gladly welcomed his mate. It is now my honor to introduce the newest addition to our family... Amelia." He gestures towards the double doors leading to the grand ball room.

"I'm going to make a round." Erik mutters before disappearing before I could stop him.

I sigh, but then my breath stops as Milla steps into the room, It was breath taking her appearance. Amelia had always been pretty and anyone would tell you that, but this, was a whole other level. She looked regal, the golden colored dress shimmered with everyone of her movements, it showed off the the markings on her body and made her seem to glow even more, the dress was maybe even more low backed then Ara's is. Her hair had been straightened and then a little bit had been pinned up much like Ara's is. She wore small jewelry to accent and little make up, her eyes had even turned to an amber color.

The whole room had stilled as if one breath would make her disappear.

"Wow.."

Ara smirks. "Right, not even the Elders can argue that she doesn't look like a queen."

I turn back, she was right no one could even ignore the fact that she looked like a queen or even an goddess.

The prince takes her hand as soon as she's in reach, his eyes hadn't moved from her since the moment the doors opened to reveal her. He pulls her close to his side and she smiles a little bit.

Without taking his eyes off of her, he addresses the crowd. "I'd like you to meet my mate, Amelia Hertz, I hope she will become as much as a light in your life as she has mine." He finally looks away from her and smiles at the crowd. "Let the celebration begin."

No one moves.

Amelia looks away from the crowd and Its as if a spell is broken and everyone begins talking as the orchestra begins playing, people begin moving to the dance floor. I see the Queen and King talk briefly to Amelia and the Crown Prince. I see my sister drag Bridge out to the dance floor.

I look over at Ara who stands beside me with a drink in her hand looking at the crowd. "Do... you wanna dance?"

She nearly chokes on her drink and then she looks at me as if I was ludicrous. "Dance? me and you?"

I nod.

She chuckles. "No offense, Orion, you're a nice guy and all but I don't want to hurt you. I literally have two left feet when it comes to things like this." She places the cup on a nearby table. "Besides people are staring..."

She looks over at two young wolves who turn away quickly upon seeing her gaze turn to them.

"Well let them look, I'm sure Winston would do the exact same if he were here, so in his place I'm going to make sure at least a couple people notice you." I offer my hand, "Now come on, I've known you not to be the cowardly type when it comes to overcoming new obstacles."

She begrudgingly takes my hand and then lets me take her out on to the floor. But I bump into someone and immediately I feel sparks run up the length of my arm.

"Freund..." my wolf says.

I see a blonde head bow towards me, green eyes flash abruptly. "I'm sorry, Beta."

I shake my head. "N-no it's fine..."

She nods and then she is gone.

I feel Ara nudge me. "Something the matter?"

"Who was that?"

She looks around me, at the blonde disappearing through the crowd. "The girl? That looks to be like Teralyne, she's one of the queen's hand maidens undergoing training." She looks back at me questioningly. "Why?"

Teralyne... Even her name is beautiful...

I smile and shake my head. "Just follow my lead." I say taking her out onto the floor.

After a few minutes of us just dancing I smile. "Hey, look at you already a pro, and look you haven't stepped on my toes."

She rolls her eyes. "Shut up."

"Speaking of Winston, have you heard anything from him?"

At this her eyes become a little glazed over with sadness. "No, and I'm worried, he should've been back before now. Something might have gone wrong."

"I think that he'l be fine, Winston's very resourceful, I'm sure he's found somebody that will help him and already made friends of them."

She smiles. "You're probably right." She frowns her different colored eyes looking straight into mine. "But I can't shake the feeling that something is wrong."

"I'm sure he'll come back alive."

"He better or I'll kill him myself."

I smile at this. There is a tap on my shoulder and I turn to see the Prince and Amelia.

"Prince, Luna." both Ara and I greet.

"I hope I wasn't interrupting, but Arabella may I ask for this dance?" Asks the Prince.

"Of course." She takes his hand and switches with Amelia.

They soon meld into the crowd.

"You look great, Milla." I tell her as we begin to sway to the music.

She smiles. "I can say the same to you as well."

"How's the night been going?"

She sighs. "So many important people, and compliments. It's all such a whirl, I don't think I've had to smile so much." She smiles sightly. "Even the elders were impressed, Elder Leopard even complemented me."

"Well you've certainly handled yourself like the future queen."

She nods, going silent. Soon she begins looking around the room and the slight smile she had disappears.

"Something wrong?"

She looks up at me. "Where's E- the Alpha? I haven't seen him at all this evening."

"He left before everything started to go on rounds." I tell her.

"Oh," She looks at the ground. "I see... Well I hope he comes back to at least enjoy the festivities a little." Her gaze turns sad.

"Milla, Is there-" before I can finish a loud scream break through the room, the whole room goes still again, but this time it not an enchanted silence but an uneasy one.

Suddenly Ara, Bridge, The Prince, and my sister run past us.

Amelia and I look at each other before joining them out in the main hall way where a horrific sight greets us at the main entrance. There was Teralyne standing there with a hand over her mouth sobbing and on the floor was Winston a pool of blood quickly spilling around him there was as well a trail coming from the open door.

Ara is the first to unfreeze and kneels down to him and turns him over calling his name, Bridge closes the doors. Amelia goes next pushing Teralyne towards me while she still sobs hysterically.

I bring her into my arms, facing my chest letting her sob into me. "Shh," I comfort her, "it's going to be alright."

Soon Erik joins his eyes wide as he kneels next to Amelia. "What happened?"

"I don't know, but he's loosing blood way to rapidly for us to move him without causing further damage. He's barely breathing as is." she says.

"We've got to do something!" Says Ara her eyes bright with unshed tears. "He'll die!"

Milla sighs. "There is one way." she says meeting Erik's eyes.

"But that could kill him, even if he begins to heal, his body may not be able to handle it." He says.

"Then either way he will die, but we're not letting him go without saying we fought." She turns to Ara her amber colored eyes as hard as brass. "You have my permission as future Luna, do it."

Without hesitation Ara's eyes change and she bites him.
