Gaze the grey wolf pup stood at the cave enterance. It was his first day outside. It's so big! He thought. He ran around the rocky terrain. "Be careful!" His mother called.
"I know!" Gaze called back. He slid and fell. Ow! His mother growled something but Gaze couldn't hear what she said. One day I am going to be leader and lead my pack to a better territory! He thought.
Suddenly there was a rockslide! Gaze's mother gave a signal to get back to the den. Gaze ran to the den, to safety.
"Mama?" He asked.
"Yes."
"Why couldn't our pack choose a safer territory?" Gaze said, but it came out harsher than he intended.
