When I woke the next day, the pack were in a tizzy as an unknown vampire had been in Bellas house so they were all on red alert. This news led to the pack working with the Cullens instead of against them to try and protect Bella and the other humans. They watched her house whilst the Cullens fed. It was a weird time.

The one thing from all of this that I was looking forward to was the council meeting that we were having tonight on the beach. The wolves, elders, and imprints all gathered for a celebration of the pack. I was allowed to go because of Sam and Paul since I wasn't officially a part of the pack - something I was beginning to think about a lot. This was going to be Leah, Seth, and Quils first one as official members of the pack so we were going to hear some of the packs origin stories which I loved listening to! When I heard that Bella was attending though, my mood turned sour.

We all gathered on the beach, ate our body weight in food, and then we sat in a circle, facing Billy Black who began to tell us the story of the third wife. I loved the story, how a woman essentially saved the pack - I was all for female empowerment.

A few days later, I was woken by Sam's voice, shouting at Jacob so I went downstairs to see what was going on.

'Whats happening Em?' I asked.

'Jake wants to go to Bellas graduation party at the Cullens house' she explained, 'but the Bella is mad at him and Sam doesn't trust the vamps'

'Sam? I think you should let Jake go. You can't stop him from being a kid' I told my brother, carefully picking my words, 'I could always go with him to make sure he stays out of trouble'

'I'm not going to let either of you go!' Sam said stubbornly.

'Sam, you need to let us go! We can't stay holed up all the time. And we might find out some useful information while we're there' I argued.

'What if they attack you?'

'Then I'll run like hell while Jake sacrifices himself to save me' I replied with a grin.

'Alright fine' Sam reluctantly agreed, 'But Quil and Embry are going with you. And you have to be the one to tell Paul that you are going!'

'Oh crap' I muttered, 'well at least you won't have to worry about the Cullens because I'm pretty sure Paul might kill me once I tell him'

Emily started laughing 'this is what you get for wanting to go to a vampire party Katie'

Paul came in from patrol and looked at us all suspiciously.

'What's going on?' He asked curiously.

'Um, well, we were just talking about me, Jacob, Quil, and Embry going to Bellas graduation party at the Cullens house' I told him.

'No way in hell Kitty' he replied immediately.

'You can't stop me Paul'

'Sam surely you don't agree with this?' Paul asked his Alpha.

'If I said no she would sneak out and go anyway' Sam shrugged.

'You can't do this' Paul told me.

'I can and I will' I insisted.

He stormed out of the house and I knew he had gone to phase. He was very mad at me right now. I let him go, he needed time to calm down and I needed to go and help the pack. I wore all black, flowery knitted shorts, body suit, tights, and boots. I curled my hair slightly and added dark make up. Yes I was going to work but I still wanted to look good!

Embry, Quil, and Jacob were waiting for me in the living room with Sam.

'Paul still out?' I asked.

'He'll come round' Sam reassured me, 'Embry, Quil, if you let Katie out of your sight you will regret it'

'We've got it Sam, protect Katie, look after Jake, don't kill the Cullens' Embry confirmed, 'We should go'

I ended up driving us to the party. The house was huge! And it was extremely open, there were huge windows everywhere which was not what I expected it to look like. As we left the car, I started to get nervous so I gripped Embrys hand tightly. The party was in full swing when we entered - kids were everywhere and the music was playing very loudly as we looked for Bella. She didn't look very happy when she saw us, especially Jacob. I stood between Embry and Quil as Jake spoke to Bella. All three of us were on high alert watching for the Cullens until Bella pushed past Jake and over to one of the vampires who was stood on the stairs.

'What's going on?' Jacob asked when we went over to them.

'You're not going to Seattle' Bella said to the camp, completely ignoring us.

'No. They're coming here' the vampire replied.

I was curious to know what was happening in Seattle and who was coming here. I soon found out. We were led into a room where all the Cullens were and I gripped Embrys hand tighter. I did not like being in a room with this many vampires.

Basically the rogue vampire whose scent had been found in Bellas house was amassing an army of new born vampires to come and kill her. Oh fun! Jacob looked over at the three of us, questioning us silently. All three of us nodded at him.

'Alright, we're in' Jake told them.

'Jacob, do you believe that Sam would agree to an understanding?' Carlisle asked.

This time Jake looked to me. I agreed.

'As long as we get to kill some vampires' he confirmed.

Jasper apparently had knowledge about new born vampires and how to fight them. The pack was invited to join the vampires in learning how to kill them. Bella kept trying to persuade Jake not to fight but he wasn't having any of it.

'Bella this is what we do' he told her 'You should be happy. Look at us working together. You are the one who wanted us to work together, remember'

'Besides, it's not even Jakes decision Bella, Sam calls the shots and there's no way he will let this opportunity pass. The packs job is to protect humans from vampires' I told her.

'They'll be going to their deaths' she argued.

'You should have more faith in them than that. They can look after themselves. You need to back off and let them do their jobs

'And you need to step away from here Edward warned me, coming closer.

'It is you who needs to back off vampire, you don't want to upset me, it would end badly for you' I threatened him.

'All of you stop' Carlisle said, 'We are on the same side now and we need to get along. Jacob, please inform Sam what happened here and let him know we will be in touch regarding some training ifhe wishes to partake in this battle.'

We left and headed home, the Boys chatting excitedly at the idea of a proper battle being possible in the future.

Sam agreed straight away to the term, wanting nothing more than to stop some vampires and protect the humans. The whole time we were telling the pack what went down, Paul ignored me. He was still angry with me.

He headed up to the room that he stayed in when he first stayed here as soon as we had finished telling everyone what happened so I followed him up.

'Paul?' I asked hesitantly, opening the door.

'What do you want?' He replied harshly.

'To talk to you Paul, you can't stay mad at me'

'You went to the vampires house Katie! Even after I told you not to. You could've died' he started to shake.

'Paul calm down, you can see that I'm completely fine'

'You smell like them Katie, it is disgusting!'

Then he phased.

I screamed out in pain, I was stood too close to him in the small bedroom and his claws had ripped through my middle. Sam, Jared, and Embry came rushing in as I fell to the floor and tried to put my hands on my waist to stop the bleeding. Embry moved my hands and replaced them with a shirt to stop the bleeding more.

'Get her to the hospital now Embry!' Sam commanded.

Embry picked me up and told me to continue to apply pressure. He shouted for Quil to start the car. We must have broken several speed limits on our way to the hospital. Embry carried me inside and doctors helped him place me on a bed and I was wheeled in to emergency surgery.
