I stood there, stunned by what Paul had said. He wanted me to be his girlfriend.

'Why?' I asked him, needing more of an explanation.

'Look, I know its weird but in an ideal world without the pack or the bloodsuckers, we would stand a chance so why not try it?'

'I can think of maybe a hundred and one reasons why not' I responded.

'But doesn't part of you want to know what it's like?' he asked.

'Possibly, but the majority of me doesn't want to go in too deep and come out heartbroken' I argued.

'That could happen to either of us Kitty Kat. But I think it's worth the risk if you do'

'What about Sam? He won't be happy' I said, my resolve slowly fading away.

'Maybe not but he loves you Kitty Kat. He wants you to be happy. He'll learn to live with it'

'Okay'

'Okay?'

'Yeah, oaky, lets try it. But I'm warning you now, I will gut you with a knife if you break me' I threatened.

'Wow Kitty Kat, you're violent. It's cute' he laughed.

'I was serious'

'I know, that's why I'm laughing'

'Jerk'

He pulled me into a hug and nuzzled into my neck causing me to squeal and laugh a little.

'This is gonna be fun Kitty'

'Well that's kinda the plan right?'

'Possibly' he kissed me lightly just as Sam walked through the back door.

'If I don't see it then it's not real' he muttered, walking straight past us.

'That reaction was unexpected' I told Paul as we followed Sam into the living room.

'I know'

'Where's Jared?' Kim asked Sam when she realised he wasn't here.

'Staying with Embry while I come and fill you guys in. Embry is gonna be staying here with us for a few days once he has shifted back so he can get a handle on things' Sam explained.

'Wait, he's gonna be staying here? I'm gonna be living with an explosive wolf?' I asked.

'You'll be safe Katie' Sam reassured me.

'Easy for you to say with your super fast healing Sam!'

'You're gonna be at school most of the time Katie so you won't be around him much and he'll be fine in a couple of days. He's no where near as temperamental as Paul was when he first phased'

All of us laughed at Pauls outraged expression as Jared and a kid I assumed to be Embry walked in. They both sat down with us before Jared spoke up.

'Embry, this is Kim, Emily, and Katie' he introduced.

'Hey Embry' we greeted him.

'You must be hungry Embry, I'll go get some Blueberry muffins for us all to snack on' Emily said, heading into the kitchen.

I could feel everyone watching me as I leant back against Paul instead of the sofa I was sat on but I tried to ignore them. Especially Kim who was smirking at me.

'So you both know about the wolves?' Embry asked Kim and I.

'Yeah, although I've never seen one yet so I feel a little left out' I told him.

'It's a little scary' Kim said.

'Yeah but I grew up hearing the stories so I don't think I'll be scared'

'Might have to try that at some point Katie, see if you're all talk or not' Jared teased.

'I will kick your furry little ass Jared' I told him.

'Oooo fighting talk Katie, I like it' he laughed.

We were all laughing as Emily came back with a pile of muffins which we all dived for, even Kim.
