Yet another day at school. I hadn't been here a full week yet but I was already sick of it! I hated being away from the pack for so long and I was ready to give up going to school and just get a job or help Emily out at home. Maybe I needed to talk to Sam and Emily about it....

'You look like you're deep in thought there Katie' Lucas laughed as he joined me.

'No need to act so surprised' I responded, nudging him slightly.

'Everything okay?'

'Yeah. I was just trying to remember who our head of year is'

'Mr Tran. Want me to take you to his office?' Lucas asked.

'Yes please, thanks Lucas'

'Anything for Pauls girl'

He led me down the corridors to Mr Trans office.

'Here you are'

'Thanks Lucas, catch you in a bit'

I knocked on the office door and went in when I was called. Mr Tran was about 30 years old and seemed pretty friendly.

'Ah Miss Uley, come in, sit down' he welcomed 'I'm sorry I haven't met you until now, I've had a busy week. I'm glad that we can meet now though. What can I do for you?'

'I came here to get some advice sir. I'm thinking about dropping out but I still would like to get my Qualifications. Would that be possible?'

'You've only just joined us and you wish to leave?' he asked me, seeming rather surprised, 'May I ask why?'

'It's a much slower pace here than what I'm used to and I believe it's affecting my performance academically. It's cut my range of subjects down by about half and I miss the ones that I no longer take' I explained.

'Alright, that's fine. What about if we found a way to match your standards here at school, would that convince you to stay?'

'I'm not sure yet sir, that's why I'm here, to discover all possibilities and gather as much information as possible before I discuss it with my brother and make my final decision' I told him.

'Is your brother your legal guardian?' he asked.

I nodded.

'My dad isn't around and my mum couldn't really control me much when I was younger so she asked Sam to deal with me once he was old enough' I explained.

'I remember Sam, he's a good kid. Very responsible. I understand why you want a variety of options. What did you have in mind? I'll see if I can help you at all.'

'So option one is that I stay in school but have a different timetable and curriculum to everyone that focuses on what I used to learn at boarding school and at a more intense level of learning as well that stimulates my brain and actually challenges me'

'I will have to look in to how we could arrange that here' he stalled.

''Okay, well option two is that I get home schooled and use the facilities this place has to offer when I need them. Such as marking essays and other work that I do, and allowing me to sit any exams I do here as well' I told him.

'Looks like you've done plenty of research Katie. Lots to think about and discuss. Which option would you prefer?'

'Option two. But in order to get Sam to agree I would need full details for both options so that I have a solid argument to give him'

'Right then, let me email your teachers so they know where you are and we'll start getting this down on paper so you can present it to Sam'

We spent several hours going through both options with a fine toothed comb so every aspect was covered and by the end of the meeting, even Mr Tran agreed that the second option was better for me as the school couldn't provide me with the education I was so used to and still wanted.

I went to my last class which was French and then I met Embry at the car after school to take him back to Emilys.

'Hey Katie, you've been MIA all day, everything okay?' he asked.

'Yeah, I was just with Mr Tran. I had some things to discuss with him and it took a little bit longer than expected. Were you okay? Did you need me?''

'No, no I was fine. I just didn't see you around and none of your friends had heard from you'

'Aw, adorable Embry. You were worried about me'

'Shove it Uley'

We were both still laughing when we went in the house where Emily and Jared were sat talking.

'Hey guys' Emily greeted.

'Embry, Sam wanted me to ask you to phase straight away, he has something to talk to you about' Jared told him.

Embry rushed off to phase as I collapsed into a chair.

'Long day?' Jared asked.

'Something like that. I need to talk to Sam when he's back and I don't know how he's going to react to what I tell him' I confessed.

'I'm sure it will be fine' Emily reassured me.

I sat with Jared and Emily, catching them up on some of the school gossip when Sam and Paul came back from their patrol around 5pm.

'Sam, Katie apparently has something to tell you'

All three of them looked at me curiously.

'Okay, well, I've given this a lot of thought Sam. I've researched and planned this out so much so please hear me out before dismissing my idea' I started, getting out the paperwork Mr Tran had helped me gather earlier on, 'I would like to drop out of school and continue my studies at home in my own time'
