Ch 15

It was finally friday, the rest of the week was boring after the student council meeting and nothing bad happened to me so my parents decided that I could start going out by myself a bit more. I had just arrived home and ran up to my room. The school day had ended and I was just about to put the final touches on my dress. Just to get in the more productive mood, I made my way to my balcony.

There was a light snowfall and giggled as the snowflakes landed around me. I was startled out of my little circle of happiness when a rock flys by my face landing over my shoulder on the balcony behind me.

I looked at it curiously before swooping down to pick it up, there was a note attached to it. It was just a location and the time a couple minutes from now. I tried to look for the owner of the note but the crowd of people below was too thick.

Did I want to risk not going? What could they do to me if I didn’t meet them? Scratch that last question, they seemed to have impeccable aim to get the note up here, I don’t want to find out what else they could do. I decided to meet them.

“Bye Mama!” I called on my way out the door. My shoes pounding on the pavement. I check the note again. I think I had an idea of who it was, the clue saying ‘Where you became a monster.’ I could only think of the bridge. It’s crowded and he would find me, if he started dragging me off I wouldn’t yell. If he’s that desperate to talk with me then so be it. If I need to get away, I now have wolf strength.

I pushed through the crowds at love lock bridge, searching for the man. I don’t really know what he looks like, each time I’ve seen him, I’ve panicked and my brain has erased the image of him.

I felt a hand wrap around my arm and tug. I almost let out a small yelp in surprise but I bit my lip to avoid it. I did whimper a little when I bit where I injured my lip during my last panic attack.

I stumbled over my feet, or were those others feet that I was tripping over? Nevermind that, I just kept falling as I was dragged off. My knees were sore and skinned once we made it out of the chaos.

“What do you want with me?” I asked as I was pulled to a small warehouse. The door slammed behind me with a loud metal bang.

“Updates.” the man turned to me.

“Pardon? You stalked me, threw a rock at me, and then kind of kidnapped me, just for an update? What update?!”

“Have you chosen the next wolf?”

“No.” I said taken aback. “Why? Why do I have to choose now?”

He shrugged. “Just choose a person, I could always pick for you.” He pulled out his phone. “How about that Alya, or whoever Adrien is.” My eyes widened in fear.

“Wha-what? How?-”

He brandished his screen to me. He had downloaded the information on my phone onto his own. “I can’t do anything to interfere with your phone, but I can do enough.”

“Th-that's illegal!” I mentaly kicked myself. ‘You fool, everything he’s doing is illegal, why did you get hung up on this?!’ I thought to myself.

“Yeah, so? Just choose a person, preferably someone you don’t know, but if it comes to it, I will choose one of them for you.” he threatened scrolling through the contacts, showing all of my friends names. “Of course, there's always the choice of just dieing.” he said it so nonchalantly I almost preferred him telling me that he’d kill me. The way he said it so calmly and emotionless, it was much more psychotic than anything else he’s said to me.

“I’ll figure it out myself.”

“Alright, I’ll see you during the full moon then, whether it’s to kill you or another, that’s to be determined.” he disappeared, the door clanging shut behind him leaving me standing alone in the old warehouse. After a moment I pulled myself together and left too, not wanting to spend too much time here. I dropped the note in the corner as I made my way out, I didn’t want it to be found by my friends and family and if someone found it here there would be very little context for them to go off of.

I took a small stroll around town to clear my head before going back home. Nothing of major significance happened on my walk, the crowds were thick and my mind was clouded. I did find an ally to transform and swing around the city.

I loved the feeling of the wind whipping my hair around, the chill burning my cheeks rosie. I made my way to the eiffel tower, not to possibly jump again, but to suck in the view.

“M’lady!” I heard Chat call, landing next to me.

“Hey Chat, how was your day?” I brightened.

“Good, and your’s? When I first spotted you, you seemed a bit down.”

“I’m fine, I just have something unavoidable on my mind.”

“Want to talk about it?”

I let out a breath. “Yes, but I can’t. It wouldn’t necessarily give away my identity, but it’s something I’m not proud of and it makes me feel weak.”

“That’s not good.”

“Very observant of you.” I cracked a smile his way before it dropped and I looked back at the civillianse mulling around below. “It’s fine, it’s my burden to bear and if I was more careful, if I listened to my kwamii, I wouldn’t have to worry about it. I know and understand the consequences of my actions, I just don’t really want to face them.” he nodded along showing that he understood my words.

“Well, do you have someone you can tell who can help you?”

“No.”

“How come?”

“I-I don’t know. It’s like being superheroes, we can’t tell anyone our identities. Same with this, if I said anything about it, no one would believe me. They’d think I was making it up.”

“How weird can it be?”

“You have no idea.” I giggled. There was a serine quiet for a moment.

“So, you told Marinette about kwamiis?”

“Hm?”

“You told-”

“Oh, yes, I did. I figured it would be good considering she was going to be taking care of you.”

“May I ask why you choose her?”

“Well, If I took you back with my secret identity you’d figure it out. I figured she would be a safe bet considering you talk about her quite a bit.”

“Makes sense.” he thought about it.

“I should be on my way now.” I said after a minute. He gave a small nod and I swung home. I transformed near the bakery and entered. I made my way up the stairs exhausted.

I was at my desk starting my homework to get it over with when there was a tap on my window.

“Hey Chat.” I smirked helping him in through the window. “What brings you here?”

He had a black backpack on that I didn’t notice before. “Do you want to watch a movie together?” He looked so thrilled at the idea of watching a movie with me.

“Yeah sure, what kind of movie?” I answered, shutting the window behind him.
He shrugged. “I’ve got a lot downloaded on my computer, what’s your favorite kind of movie?”

“Anything but horror.”

We spent a long while discussing our favorite movies before choosing one. We wrapped up in my blankets, squashed together on my bed watching the movie play.

It was nightfall by the time the movie was over.

“I didn’t realize you were a fan of The Sound of Music.” I turned to him as he closed his laptop.

“Yeah, it reminds me of a better version of my life, except I don’t have siblings.” I nodded my head.

“Have you and you dad spoken recently?” I remembered how happy he was when he had a business dinner with his father.

“Not much, but he did congratulate me on maintaining all A’s. Okay, he just said ‘As expected of you.’ when I told him, but it’s close enough!” He seemed happy and proud of himself.

“Well I’m happy for you Chaton.” I smiled leaning into him. He wrapped his arms around me and pulled me close. We stayed there for the rest of the night, just talking until sunrise.
