Chapter 8
Vledz wasn't sure what was going on. Darox explained it to him, but he couldn't believe anything he had said.
"You disappeared when you were a young pup. Your brother, Trenso, had disappeared as well, but he came back. See, what the shadow lord does, is she puts some sort of spell on unsuspecting victims that are wandering in the forest alone. Some say the spell just turns victims into slaves, and others say that the spell brain washes them, then the shadow lord tells them they were rejected. But it doesn't matter. You're here now."
Vledz shook his head and concentrated on the present. Darox had called a meeting, and it was about to start.
Snosali groaned. "We've had about five hundred meetings in the past two days. Will Darox give it a rest?"
Tamalee had settled down next to Snosali. "Now, sugar, we need to discuss things like normal wolves, unless you want to do nothing but stare at each other all day."
Snosali grunted as Darox started to speak.
"So everyone, we have Vledz back, but the shadow pack is still a threat." Darox cleared his throat. "We need to figure out how to take them down."
As soon as he said that, everyone started to call out.
"Surprise attack!" Shouted Pilis.
"Trap them in the forest!" Trenso howled.
Murmers echoed through the cave until Vledz spoke up.
"We could get the other pack to help us. The shadow pack is too strong to take on by ourselves."
Everyone turned to Vledz. Most of them looked quite shocked.
Darox sat thoughtfully, then said, "It might work."
Everyone started shouting once again.
"Are you kidding? They'll never help us!"
"The other pack wouldn't save our lives if that was required for them to survive!"
"They are so rude."
"Enough! We have to take our chances. Fosleet, Vledz, I want you to come with me to the other packs. Let's hope for the best." Darox said, dismissing his pack.
