Chapter 1

(The picture above is Jacer)

Twigs snapped while Jacer ran through the forest. Something was after him. But he didn't know what.

And he probably didn't want to find out.

Jacer felt his bones starting to tire. But he had to keep running.

Suddenly, Jacer found himself running into a ravine. It sloped down, and it was very wide. There was no where to go but down the ravine.

He ran down and wove through the rock walls jutting out as quickly as he could.

Then, he tripped on a rock. He tried to get back up, but he had twisted his paw. He fell back to the ground, hoplessly staring at the sky.

Strangly, the rumble of rocks sounded above, and behind him, a wall of rocks started piling up. And behind those rocks, approaching at a fast pace, was what Jacer was running from.

It was a large wolf, but it didn't seem normal. It had super long fangs, and it's red eyes gleamed with hate.

But before Jacer could try and pull himself away from the beast, the rock wall had grown enough to keep the beast from reaching him.

The beast howled in anger, and grunted.

Jacer looked up, still confused as to where the rocks had come from.

On top of the ravine, he could just make out the faces of two other wolves.

"Are you all right?" One called down.

Jacer hesitated before replying, "I guess..."

"We're coming down now." The other called.

Jacer sat up with his twisted paw sticking out akwardly.

The two wolves appeared on top of the wall and started sliding down the other side.

Jacer studied them. One was purple and white while the other was black with a bit of blue.

The purple one spoke first.

"Hey. I'm Twisty, and this is my brother Baylee."

(Twisty)

(Baylee)

"I'm Jacer. W...what was that thing?" Jacer stuttered.

"Oh, that thing chasing you? That was a Shadow Wolf. I can't explain it well. We're not supposed to know much about them," Twisty said.

(Shadow Wolf)

Jacer opened his mouth, but Baylee interrupted. "Hey, Twist, we should get Jacer back to our pack and have Tamalee take a look at him. That looked like a bad fall."

"Yeah, true. Can you walk?" Twisty asked.

"A little, I guess. I'm not sure."

Baylee walked over and offered Jacer his shoulder to lean on.

Jacer slowly got up and winced as he put weight on his paw. But he reluctantly leaned on Baylee and started limping away from the rocks.

"How did you guys know I was here?" Jacer asked.

"We didn't. Me and Baylee like to go on the top of the ravine and mess around with rocks. We made a little rock hut and everything," Twisty sighed, "But we saw you being chased by a Shadow Wolf and pushed it over to save you."

"But why? You don't know me." Jacer muttered.

Baylee spoke up. "No, but your a wolf just like us. We need to depend on each other to survive out here."

"Well...thanks."

Suddenly, Twisty bounced ahead. "We're here!"

Baylee laughed. "Yes we are."
