Description: The full moon was brutal on Remus. The Marauders work tirelessly to make sure their best mate is okay after the transformation.
Story:
As soon as the first rays of sunlight shone through the windows of the shack and the wolf started to transform back into Remus, Sirius, Peter, and James quickly transformed from their animagus forms.
Sirius ran to Remus just as the transformation finished. He gathered his boyfriend up in his arms. He was knocked out cold, exhausted from the torment the transformation put on his body and mind.
"Get the first aid kit," Sirius told James, not looking up from Remus. He was bleeding everywhere, new scars sure to form.
James returned with the first aid kit and the two of them set to work in applying a salve Madam Pomfrey made and wrapping bandages around his wounds, casting spells to close the worst of the cuts.
Once they'd gotten Remus as cleaned up as they could, Sirius slipped Remus's sweater back over his head and he and Peter helped to lift a limp Remus up onto James's back so they could carry him back to the castle. Peter wrapped a blanket around Remus's shoulder and then the four of them set out into the cold.
They'd been bringing Remus back to the castle since they found out about him in second year, so Madam Pomfrey didn't think much of it. Of course, they'd started out going bright and early in the morning to get him, but Pomfrey didn't have to know that they'd been spending the night there too since fifth year.
Madam Pomfrey was waiting for them when they arrived at the Hospital Wing. It was still quite early in the morning so they didn't run into anyone on the way.
James gently set Remus down onto a bed and let Pomfrey fret over Remus's new wounds. The three of them had gotten better and better at dressing Remus's wounds after all these years. Madam Pomfrey used to get mad at them for doing it poorly, requesting that they just let her do it. Eventually, she discovered that they weren't going to listen to her, so she taught them how instead. She taught them a lot of things to help Remus on the full moon, actually, and she never really questioned them when they came back a little bruised and battered as well. She knew that they were up to something, but preferred to turn a blind eye.
Once she'd refreshed Remus's bandages, she shooed the boys away to give Remus his rest. James and Peter left, defeated, but Sirius stayed. He still wondered why Pomfrey made such a big show of trying to make him leave every moon, they'd been over this a million and a half times! There wasn't a thing Pomfrey could do to make Sirius leave his Moony.
"I will hex myself Poppy, you know I will," he threatened.
Pomfrey sighed and started to head back over to her desk. "I know you will. Just keep quiet, will you?" It was true, Sirius had once hexed himself in order to stay in the Hospital Wing with Remus. It was back in fourth year.
Remus woke up a few hours later. He groaned, lifting his fist to rub the sleep out of his eyes. He, however, didn't account for how weak he still was and was unable to keep his arm aloft and instead smacked himself in the face.
Sirius couldn't contain his laughter as he stood from his chair and crawled into the bed beside his boyfriend.
"Clumsy, Moony," he muttered, brushing his soft light brown curls out of his face.
Remus closed his eyes and hummed in agreement, stretching his arm across Sirius's middle and snuggling into his side.
"How are you feeling?" Sirius asked softly, massaging his scalp.
"Terrible," Remus whispered croakily. "But better than last night."
Sirius continued to play with Remus's hair. Madam Pomphrey came over to give Remus a few potions and then left again, but not before making Remus agree to getting some more rest.
"Go back to sleep, Moons," Sirius whispered.
Remus was too tired to reply, slipping into sleep as the draught took over.
It wasn't until well after dinner that Remus came to again and it was to discover that James and Peter were there too, talking to Sirius as he ate dinner, trying his very best not to get crumbs in Remus's hair.
"Well good morning, Sleeping Beauty," James greeted with a grin.
"Fuckoff," Remus murmured, his words slurring together. "It'snotevenmorning."
Peter chuckled. "Well that wasn't very nice."
"Youcanfuckofftoo."
"Wow okay."
Sirius set his plate down and started running his fingers up and down Remus's arm in soothing patterns. Remus sighed contentedly, able to ignore the pain for a little while longer.
After a comfortable silence, Peter said, "I took notes for you, Moony."
Remus smiled. "Thanks, Wormtail."
"And Evans and I did your essay that's due tomorrow," James added.
Remus suddenly felt quite emotional. His friends really were the best. "Thank you, Prongs."
"And I got a full day's worth of cuddles," Sirius added, hugging Remus. He didn't mention the sudden wetness on his shirt from where Remus had started to cry silently.
"I love you, Padfoot," he said.
Sirius kissed the top of his head. "I love you too, Moony."
"And we love you both!" James cut in, pretending to swoon at this truly romantic scene that was happening in front of him. He dabbed fake tears from his eyes and clutched Peter's arm, who started to laugh.
"Glad you're feeling alright, Remus, but it's time these boys leave you alone," Madam Pomfrey cut in with a smile.
James groaned dramatically. "But Poppy, he just woke up! Come on, let a lad have some fun with his friends!"
She put her hands on her hips. "How many times do I have to tell you not to call me Poppy! It's Madam Pomfrey to you, Mr. Potter."
Sirius smiled secretly to himself as Madam Pomfrey never bothered to correct him anymore.
James huffed and stood, offering a hand to Peter. "Fine then, we best be going. I have to do Head Boy rounds with Evans anyway. See ya!" He called to Sirius and Remus as he left the room. Peter scurried after him with a wave over his shoulder.
"James is such an idiot," Sirius said, smiling fondly after his best mate.
"Yeah," Remus drawled taking the potions Pomfrey handed him with a sour look.
"Good night, boys," Pomfrey said, giving them a look that said you better go to sleep or else.
"Night, Poppy," Sirius said, pulling an already half asleep Remus closer to him.
Madam Pomfrey fought to keep a straight face as she shook her head and closed the curtains, retreating to her quarters.
