Description: Remus is more sick than usual leading up to the full moon and Sirius is determined to make him feel better.
Story:
The full moon wasn't for another two days, and yet Remus Lupin couldn't get out of bed that morning for breakfast.

Sirius Black tried his very best to rouse his boyfriend from sleep, but Remus just wouldn't stir, curling into a tighter ball.

Sirius shared a concerned glance with James Potter, Peter Pettigrew getting ready for breakfast obviously behind them.

"Let's go get breakfast then. We'll come back to get him before classes."

Sirius gave James a look, the latter putting his hands up in surrender.

"You know he doesn't eat well this close to the moon anyway. And if it makes you feel better, I'll help you force him to eat stuff at lunch."

Sirius sighed and nodded, following James.

When the three boys returned to the dorm close to an hour earlier, Remus wasn't in his bed.

"Remus?" Sirius asked, panicking slightly. Then he heard a grunt from under Remus's bed and he crouched down to see Remus laying under his own bed.

He smiled sadly. "Rey, what're you doing down there?" He asked.

"S'too bright," he said, eyes closed.

Sirius reach under the bed and grabbed Remus's hand. "Come on Moons, it's time for classes."

Remus groaned softly before inching out from under the bed. He sat down on the bed with his head in his hands as Sirius went through his trunk and picked out an outfit.

That day throughout classes, Remus couldn't focus on anything the professors were saying. Most of the classes he spent with his head resting on his desk as Sirius looked on with worry.

When it came time for lunch, the boys practically dragged Remus into the Great Hall. Remus, being so distracted, didn't realize where they were until the smells hit him.

He stopped in his tracks in the entrance of the Great Hall and started gagging at the smells, covering his nose and mouth with his hands.

He turned quickly and ran from the Great Hall, pushing his way through students to get to the restrooms.

He crashed through the door and winced as his knees hit the flagstone floor in front of the toilet. He felt Sirius put a hand on his shoulder as he threw up everything he'd eaten the day before.

When he was done, Sirius wiped away his tears and used some of the toilet paper to wipe his mouth, pulling him into his side and kissing the top of his head. Sirius ran his hand up and down Remus's arm and waited for Remus to calm down as Remus focused on breathing and the calming sensation of Sirius.

Sirius got out his wand and summoned a tea cup. "Aguamenti," he whispered, filling it with water and putting it to Remus's lips.

"Just take sips Rey. That's it."

When Remus was ready to move, Sirius helped him to his feet and out of the restroom. James and Peter were waiting anxiously at the door. James shot Sirius a questioning look and Sirius nodded in return.

They got Remus up to the common room and he couldn't make the stairs so they settled him on the couch in front of the fire.

Sirius turned to the other two boys. "You lot can finish classes for the day. I'll stay with Remus."

James nodded and patted Remus on the shoulder. "Feel better, mate," he said, gesturing Peter to follow him out of the portrait hole.

Sirius sat down beside Remus on the couch and wiggles around until he was laying across it and Remus crawled over him, his back to the back of the couch and his head on Sirius's chest. Sirius held his hand with one hand and ran his fingers through his hair with the other and Remus soon fell asleep.

Hours later, James and Peter returned to the common room, Peter with a container of food for Sirius, and one for Remus as well if he was feeling up to it.

The boys found the two of them sleeping on the couch, Remus laying on top of Sirius as Sirius had his arms protectively around Remus, Remus's hand on Sirius's chest.

James crept over and gently shook Sirius's shoulder until he blinked awake.

"We brought you dinner," Peter whispered. Sirius saw the way Remus shifted in his sleep at the smell of it so he motioned for Peter to get away.

He carefully untangled himself from Remus and walked over to Peter while James sat on the floor to keep an eye on Remus.

Sirius hadn't eaten since breakfast and he happily scarfed down all the food Peter brought him. Peter took out the extra desserts he'd stuffed in his pockets and ate those too, so they ate together.

When they were done they went back over to where James was watching over Remus, the quiet buzz of the common room around them.

"Should we wake him up?" James asked with a pitying look down at Remus. He didn't want to wake Remus up, he needed his sleep.

Sirius shook his head. "I'll carry him," he suggested. So he picked Remus up in his arms and carried him up the stairs to the boys' dormitory, being careful not to jostle him too much.

Once in the dormitory, he laid Remus down on their bed and got his pajamas on before getting in next to him and falling asleep.

The next morning, Sirius woke up before Remus again and noticed that Remus was shivering terribly. Sirius found himself rather hot and decided he'd better check Remus's temperature.

He put his hand on Remus's forehead and deduced that he was indeed very warm. He beaconed James over, who'd just come from the bathroom.

"Does he feel warm to you?" Sirius asked. James felt his forehead, frowning when he took his hand away. He nodded.

"How about you lot head to classes today and I'll have a lie-in with Moony," Sirius suggested and James nodded as he started to rouse Peter as per usual morning routine.

It was about another hour after James and Peter left for classes that Remus woke up. He was shaky and sweaty and he had trouble stringing his words together right.

Sirius didn't want to make Remus feel any worse so he didn't let on how worried he was, but he was indeed very worried. He suggested on multiple occasions that he bring Remus to Madam Pomfrey, but Remus flat out refused, claiming he didn't want to bother her before the full moon.

Periodically throughout the day, James and Peter brought food, but only Sirius ate anything. The best he could do was get Remus to drink some tea.

He threw up three more times that day. He complained of a terrible pain behind his eye and of a headache so Sirius suspected a possible migraine.

Remus's fever had yet to break, but it hadn't gotten much higher since he'd checked it that morning. He spent most of the day sleeping.

The morning of the full moon day, Remus woke up to a sharp pain in his back. He tried to shift to relieve it, but he found it  was a terrible idea and he let out a shout of pain that woke Sirius.

"Remus?" He asked, startled out of his slumber. A few tears escaped Remus's eyes as he realized he couldn't move. He was stuck and his back hurt something awful.

Sirius sat up, grabbing his wand and lighting the lamp. He saw the predicament Remus was in and quickly crawled out of the bed to the desk to grab the vial of pain relieving potion they stored there.

He cursed when he found the empty vial, remembering only then that they'd used the last of it last full moon.

"James!" Sirius called, running over to shake his best friend awake. James blinked awake sleepily, reaching for his glasses on the desk.

"James, go see Pomfrey, we need more potion," Sirius said urgently, and then James was off without even changing out of his pajamas.

Sirius ran back over to Remus and tried to help him into a more comfortable position, slipping a few pillows behind his shoulders.

Remus started to sob as Sirius moved him as the pain of his tight bones and muscles tore through him.

"I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry," Sirius whispered until he got Remus situated. There wasn't much he could do to help Remus or distract him so he turned into Snuffles and curled up into Remus, letting him play with his ears or hold his paws as tightly as he needed to.

Finally, James came running back through the door looking disheveled. He carried three vials of potion and poured out the right amount for Remus, coming over and helping Remus take it, holding it to his lips for him.

Remus drank it down and sank into the pillows afterword. The pain was by no means gone, but the potion had given him some breathing room and the pain wasn't as harsh as before.

Once again, Sirius stayed behind with Remus while James and Peter went to classes. At lunch, they brought back food for Sirius and left for the Shrieking Shack.

Once they had Remus settled on the couch in the dusty old shack, they waited, trying to keep Remus distracted and possibly even entertained.

As the moon rise drew closer, Remus started to subconsciously scratch at himself, leaving white lines down his skin from where his nails ran up and down his arms.

As soon as Sirius saw this, he held Remus's hands in his, quite pained by the sounds of pain Remus was making as they waited.

And finally, the merciful moon rose, taking Remus's consciousness with it and replacing the body of the boy with that of a wolf.
