Amortentia (Drarry)

Harry has always hated potions.

Maybe it was because of his old slimy teacher, Professor Snape, or maybe it was because of the fact he had it with Slytherins who wanted to ruin his life.

Either way, whenever it was on his timetable, he dreaded it.

He was sat at the Gryffindor table, Ron and Hermione flanking him as he munched on some treacle tart Hermione had bought him for Christmas.

"What's up, Harry?" Ron asked, his mouth stuffed with bits of chicken.

"Ronald, please don't speak with your mouthful." Hermione said, wrinkling her nose as she read Hogwarts: A History for the trillionth time.

Ron just stuck his tongue out at her, spraying bits of food over the table.

"I don't know what you mean, Ron, I'm fine. I'm just dreading potions" I replied to his earlier question.

"Me too" Ron agreed, having now swallowed his food.

Hermione smiled at her best friends,
"I agree also, but maybe it'll be different this year?"

They all stared at each other for a minute before Ron and Harry burst out laughing.

"Good one, 'Mione" Harry laughed, his head thrown back, he didn't notice a certain Slytherin watching him intently, wishing he was the one who could make him laugh like that.

"Yeah" Ron snorted, wiping tears from his blue eyes.

Harry sighed, after Herbology he had potions.

"Well," Harry thought, "at least I'm in a class with Draco...maybe I'll get a seat were I can check out his ass.."

His thoughts were ended as Mrs Sprout tottered over, smiling at the class.

Mrs Sprout said something about some water plant or whatever, before Harry's mind wandered back to the gorgeous Slytherin.

He had changed a lot this year, (6th year) at first, Harry suspected he had gotten the dark mark, but Draco had actually turned less snarky and more sarcastic. He seemed happier and livelier and Harry hated it. He hated it because every time Draco smiled or laughed Harry's heart fluttered like a butterfly. He hated it because now he didn't have an excuse to watch him, so Hermione and Ron had to keep reminding him to not to stare, 'he's good now' they repeated. He hated it because now that Draco was finally being himself, he was so goddamn attractive inside and out and Harry didn't know what to do about it. There's nothing more that Harry hated than what he couldn't have. But, he couldn't be mad at Draco, after all, he liked him. A lot.

Once the lesson was over, the Golden Trio trudged to the dungeons for double potions.

(AN: In this one shot, the real Mad-Eye is the D.A.D.A teacher and Snape is the potions teacher)

They sat in their original seats, most people hoping and praying they'd be moved to a better seat.

Snape burst through the door, his cloak billowing behind him like a shadow as he stalked to the front of the classroom.
He waved his hand at us, telling us we should all stand up; we did so.

"Welcome back to potions." Snape muttered, "We have only started this extraordinary subject after Christmas because I had some things to sort out for Dumbledore, but, because of the amount of lessons we've missed, I will be putting the more able students next to the lower level students to hopefully-"Snape glared at me"-raise their standard."

Snape flicked his wand and the room reorganised so that there could only be two to a desk,
"There will be a piece of card with your name on it and that is where you will be sat. Now go!" He barked, then went and sat at his black desk.

We all shuffled past the desks, looking at the name cards:

Thomas, Dean and Finnigan, Seamus.

Longbottom, Neville and Bullstrode, Millicent.

Weasley, Ronald and Zabini, Blaise.

Granger, Hermione and Parkinson, Pansy.

Malfoy, Draco and Potter, Harry-

Wait what?!

Harry did a double take to check if he read it right, he did.

Gobsmacked, he took a seat, waiting for the his blonde crush to sit beside him.

Eventually, Draco sat next to him, he hadn't made a single sign of protest yet.

Once everyone was seated, Snape began to drawl once more,
"We will be brewing Amortentia. I will be giving no help as this is all on page 245 in your textbooks. You have 1 hour and 30 minutes. Begin!"

Once Harry and Draco has gathered their ingredients and started to mix them, Harry decided that he might as well try to converse with Draco.

"Um, hello" Harry said to Draco, sending him a bashful smile.

Draco glanced at him, white-blonde eyebrows raised then replied,
"Hi, Harry" with as small smile too.

Harry's heart fluttered so much that he almost forgot to stop stirring the potion.

After 10 minutes or so, Harry spoke again,
"How-how have you been?"

He looked into the slightly taller boy's beautiful grey eyes and almost fainted at how gorgeous they were.

"Despite You-Know-Who tracking down my family for joining the good side? -" Harry winced, "- I've been quite alright, great actually."

"Good, I'm-I'm glad...I mean! I'm glad that you're feeling good! Not because of You-Know-Who tracking your family down! I-uh-sorry!" I spluttered, before covering my red face with my hands.

I felt my hands being gently pulled away by some warm ones and found myself face-to-face with the beautiful Draco Malfoy.

My breath caught in my throat as he was inches away.

This close to him, I noticed that he too had pink spread across his cheeks, this lifted my spirit slightly.

He gently rubbed a thumb along my cheek and smiled at me.
"You might want to stir you potion, Harry, or else it'll turn as red as you are" he said chuckling.

I smiled back,
"Okay"

The rest of the lesson was perfect, Draco and I chatted, him being a mixture of friendly and sarcastic as we got to know each other better, who knew we had so much in common!

With the help from Draco, we'd finished our potions with 30 minutes to spare.

"Dray, do you wanna see what they smell like?" I asked him as I gazed at these pink, bubbling potions.

"Sure, Harry"

Draco leant forward, and sniffed. He then frowned.

Hermione and Ron had started listening know, they wanted to know what Malfoy found attractive. Ron's mind kept drifting to blood.

"I-I can't smell anything" Draco stated, his eyebrows furrowed.

"Let me try" Harry said as he leant forward and sniffed.

All he could smell is what he had smelt for the past hour: Draco's slight bit of hair gel, Draco's cologne and Draco's natural smell of the Quidditch pitch.

"Humph" Harry's mouth emitted as he pulled away from the potion, frowning also. "I couldn't either! But we followed the instructions?"

As Draco checked over the instructions again, Hermione began giggling.

Harry turned to her,
"What?"

"You two are so oblivious" Hermione said, still giggling.

Harry furrowed his eyebrows which just made Hermione laugh louder.

"10 points from Gryffindor!" Snape barked, "for being annoying and disturbing your peers from their work"

Harry glanced around and saw everyone intently doing their potions - nobody was being distracted except Harry, and Snape didn't care about him.

Harry just sighed and continued to sniff the potion, trying his hardest to ignore Draco's intoxicating smell.

Eventually, they both got a bit agitated.

"Ugh!" Harry erupted, glaring slightly at Draco, "if it wasn't for the amount of cologne you're wearing, maybe I'd be able to smell the Amortentia!"

Draco glared back,
"Maybe if you didn't use so much fruity shampoo, I'd be able to smell the Amortentia!"

They both sighed in an over-the-top manner, and continued to take turns reading over the instruction and sniffing the potions.

After about 5 minutes, Harry realised something. Harry's usual fruity shampoo ran out that morning, and because he was lazy, he used Ron's - Ron definitely didn't have fruity shampoo.

At the same time, Draco realised that in his rush to get ready this morning, he didn't put on any cologne.

"Draco?" Harry said as Draco said, "Harry?"

"Can I speak to you outside?" Draco asked Harry.

Harry nodded and when Snape wasn't looking, crept out into the deserted hallway.

"Harry, I... I didn't put on any cologne this morning..." Mumbled Draco, turning pink.

"I didn't use fruity shampoo this morning, Dray" muttered Harry, flushing red.

They both looked at each other at the same time: green eyes meeting grey.

Harry reached out to the slightly taller boy and pulled him closer, pressing their lips together.

Both the boys' hearts burst as they wrapped themselves up in the other - they had waited so long for this moment.

Draco pushed Harry up against the wall, one hand in his messy black hair and the roaming Harry's chest. Harry had his hands wrapped around Draco's waist, attempting to pull him as close as he could.

They broke apart, panting, surprised and joyous, even when a familiar voice said cheerily:
"I guess you're not completely oblivious after all!"
