Totally Hypothetical

It was a quiet afternoon in the Gryffindor dorms. Snow fell outside, coating the grounds in a layer of frosty white. James and Peter had gone off on some prank, leaving Sirius and Remus alone in the dorms.

It was a calm energy that filled the space. You could just about hear the crackling of the fire downstairs, and the dorm smelt of chocolate and pine.

Both boys sat on Sirius's bed, Remus cross-legged on the end, reading, and Sirius stretched out on his stomach beside him.

"Moony," Sirius started, sounding strangely hesitant.

"Mm?"

"So... hypothetically, if two blokes kiss under some very romantic circumstances and... maybe fall asleep on each other, would that make them... you know... dating?"

Remus didn't even look up from his book as he replied, "Totally hypothetical, right?"

"Yeah."

"Well, I'd say it depends."

Sirius shifted, sitting up. "Depends on what?" he asked, his tone just a little too eager.

"Whether one of the blokes is brave enough to actually ask the other for what they want."

Sirius paused, blinking at the werewolf. "Wait... are you saying you-"

Remus finally looked up from his book, raising his eyebrows at Sirius. "I'm saying you're terrible at hypotheticals."

Sirius's grin broke through-a grin that lit up Remus's very soul. "Well, in that case, Remus Lupin, would you do me the honour of being my very much non-hypothetical boyfriend?"

Sirius's eyes filled with so much hope that Remus couldn't stop the bursting smile that appeared on his face. "Yes, you prat! Yes, I'll be your boyfriend."

They sat in silence for a few moments, marvelling at their new title, until Sirius broke the silence with a sly grin. "So, does this mean I get to call you babe now?"

Remus burst out laughing.
