Tales Of Her.

Remus and Sirius sat on the sofa one winter's night, the light from the dying fire warming the room. It was a few hours after they'd put Harry to bed when Sirius noticed the young boy standing in the doorway. "Something wrong, pup?" he asked, patting the seat beside him.

Harry hesitated for a moment before sitting in the spot. Remus and Sirius looked at him in concern for a minute until he spoke. "What... what was my mum like?" Remus stared into the fire, a sad but reminiscent smile upon his face.

"Lily was... amazing. She burned bright when people said she couldn't. She was... a flame in a sea of darkness..." Remus's eyes glistened as he spoke about her, looking into the fire but not really seeing it, instead seeing a girl with flaming hair, vibrant green eyes, and a red-hot temper.

Sirius pulled Harry into him, holding the boy in his arms. He sighed, trying to find the right words. "Lily saw things how most people don't," Remus nodded, his smile returning. "When she found out Sirius and I were dating, all she did was smile and say she was happy for us, and honestly, we couldn't have hoped for a better reaction..."

Sirius let out a laugh. "Do you remember that time I stood on the Gryffindor table in the Great Hall and confessed my love to you?" he asked the werewolf beside him. "Of course I do... idiot..." The last word was said affectionately. Sirius may be an idiot, but he was Remus's idiot.

Remus's smile softened at the edges. He wrapped an arm around Sirius's shoulders, moving closer into the other man's warmth. Harry hung on to every word, his eyes wide.
"She was there for that too..." Remus whispered after a moment's silence.

Sirius nudged him jokingly,
"Yeah, and the rest of the Hogwarts population!" Remus just sent him a playful glare before continuing, "She laughed so hard she almost fell off the bench, and she cheered even harder..."

Sirius grinned at the memory.
"She told me afterwards that if I embarrassed you like that again, she'd dye my hair pink." Harry's eyes widened. "Did she do it?" Sirius pouted when Remus burst out laughing.

"Oh, yes, she did... It stayed like that for two weeks. James loved it, called you a 'rebellious little flamingo.'" Harry giggled, the sound bright in the quiet night. Sirius pouted again, swatting playfully at his fiancé. "...shut up..." Although Harry could see the grin he tried to hide. For a moment, the grief the world had placed upon their shoulders receded; everything was just... okay.
