The air in the Gryffindor common room crackled with tension. Sirius paced back and forth. Remus sat with a book, though he'd been reading the same paragraph for five minutes. "I want to help, Moony, I do. I can't just sit here while Pete and James are off risking their lives! But at the same time, I don't want to live a life of fear..."

Remus looked up from his book, rising to stand with his fiancé. "I know..." He ran his hands through his hair, fingers trembling as he did so. "Whatever we do, it feels like we're walking into a nightmare we won't wake up from."

Sirius stopped pacing, taking a shaky breath as he looked at Remus. "But if we don't do anything... aren't we just waiting for the world to burn around us?" His voice broke slightly as he continued. "I don't want to be scared all the time, just waiting for a Death Eater to jump out at us. I don't... I don't want to lose you, Remus."

Remus stepped closer, the flickering firelight illuminating their worried expressions. "I don't want to lose you either. But whatever happens, we'll face it together." He wrapped Sirius in an embrace, squeezing tight.

Sirius's lips quirked into a small smile. "Together," he echoed back.
"Together," Remus promised, linking their pinkies together.

A small silence passed, a hint of defiance sparkling in Sirius's eyes. "Let's do it then. Let's join. We'll fight for us, for everything they've taken from us."

Remus's own eyes shone with defiance now, his grip tightening on Sirius. The promise was sealed, not just with words, but with love. They pulled back just enough to share a look of steely resolve. The decision was made; now they had to live with it.

Mere moments later, they were marching into Dumbledore's office, their hands clasped firmly together as they stalked up the spiral stairs. Sirius pushed the door wide open.

"We're joining the Order."
