Calm, Safe, And Together | Part 3
Soft moonlight filtered through the windows of the Gryffindor common room. It must have been a few hours since the two boys had fallen asleep again, curled up in each other's arms in the corner. Remus woke first, and as he came into consciousness, he noticed the comforting weight of Sirius's head on his chest.
Sirius's eyes were still red and puffy from breaking down in Remus's arms. The werewolf's heart ached at the thought of his love in pain. He slowly stretched, noticing his limbs were stiff from sleeping on the floor.
It was still hours from daybreak, and Remus hardly wanted to go back to bed. Lying so close but so far from the boy in his lap would surely be torture, but staying on the cold, hard floor might be just as agonising.
He felt torn between the warmth their embrace gave him and the aching stiffness in his body. Sighing, he decided on a compromise. He gently shifted, trying hard not to wake Sirius as he adjusted his hold on the boy. Eventually, after a couple of minutes of awkward shifting, he had the still-asleep Sirius in a bridal carry.
He sat up slowly, careful not to make any sudden movements, and found himself standing with his boyfriend in his arms. Remus carried him to a large sofa by the fire. The werewolf laid Sirius on the plush, crimson sofa, lying next to him and pulling him close. He settled down, inhaling Sirius's scent-the rebellious smell of leather mixed with a sort of softness no act could replicate-that made him feel warm inside.
Sirius let out a happy-sounding murmur as he cuddled into Remus. The world narrowed to two boys in each other's arms, and everything was finally okay.
