Time skip for this one!

It was Christmas of 1976. Remus and Sirius lay at the top of the Astronomy Tower. They'd snuck up long after everyone had gone to bed, wanting a moment for just each other. It was, after all, a very special day.

"Happy anniversary, Pads." Remus smiled, his fingers intertwined with Sirius's as they lay on the floor and looked at the sky. "Yeah, happy anniversary... I can't believe it's been a year already."

Remus's grin took on a glint of mischief. "What? Getting tired of me already?" he teased, turning his head to face his love. Sirius smirked. "Hardly, although... you did take the last chocolate biscuit..." He put his finger to his chin, miming thoughtfulness. Remus gave him a playful kick. "Oh, shove off."

They turned their eyes back to the stars, sitting in comfortable silence for a moment before Sirius pointed at one, the brightest in the sky, in fact. "That," he said, smiling softly, "is Sirius, it's my namesake." He gave a small laugh. "Also known as the 'Dog Star.' Ironic, isn't it?"

Remus smiled, pretending he was listening when, in reality, he just loved hearing Sirius talk, whisper facts about something he enjoyed, hearing his tone light up almost as bright as the stars he talked about. Though his gaze turned slightly sadder as he pointed at another, slightly dimmer star. "That's Regulus, 'Lion's Heart'... always slightly darker than Sirius, but just as brave..." Remus got the feeling they weren't talking about stars anymore.

"I'm sure he loves you, somewhere deep inside him," he said, trying to comfort his partner. Sirius shook his head. "I know, that's the worst part. It-it's just... hidden, buried under layers of familial expectations, forgotten in favour of the struggles of life. I know he loves me, but, in some way, that makes it worse."

Remus nodded, digesting the words. He held Sirius's hand tighter.

"Merry Christmas, Sirius."

"Yeah, Merry Christmas, Moony."
