Remus, Sirius, Peter, and James walked down one of the vast stone corridors of Hogwarts, heading up to the Gryffindor dorms to get Remus's Transfiguration book before their next class.

Remus and Sirius walked a little ahead, joking about a prank they'd done that morning. "His face was priceless!" cried Remus, almost doubled over in laughter as the two walked.

Just then, a cry of laughter came from James behind them. "Oh Merlin, guys! You're under the mistletoe!" Time appeared to freeze as both Sirius and Remus looked up, finding that they were, in fact, under a bunch of mistletoe.

"Uhh..." Remus shifted awkwardly, turning to face his partner. They hadn't told the other two Marauders about their relationship yet. "We could just... ignore it?"

"No!" Sirius said just a little too abruptly. "I-uh, I mean, no, I think we should honour tradition. Come on, Moony, it's just a little kiss! It doesn't mean anything!" Remus nodded hesitantly, understanding Sirius's message of 'we can tell them, they won't care... right?'

"Right, yeah, just a little kiss. Come on then, let's get it over with..." And all too soon, they were leaning in. Their eyes met, and Remus couldn't help the smile that appeared on his face. Everything would be fine... probably.

Remus's eyes flickered to Sirius's lips, his smile softening slightly. Their lips touched, a tender kiss, barely brushing before it was over. Remus wished it would last forever.

The young werewolf was abruptly wrenched from his thoughts as Sirius pulled back, shot back into reality, snapped into the realisation that he and Sirius had just kissed in front of James and Peter.

"So... uh... glad that's over..." He tried, adding an awkward laugh at the end as he trailed off. "What! Am I that bad a kisser?" Sirius teased, though it didn't feel quite right. He and Remus's eyes met for a beat, hoping, praying, this would just blow over.

Unfortunately, that hope was soon dashed as Peter seemed to be putting together the puzzle. "That..." he started, his tone hesitant but not accusing. "That wasn't just the mistletoe... was it?" His eyes widened as he connected the dots.

James figured it out a moment later, and a smile grew on his face. "Well, why didn't you just tell us? This is great news!" A wave of relief crashed over Remus as he let out a breath he hadn't known he was holding. "You're... okay with it?"

"Okay with it? It's great! How long have you been together?" Sirius seemed to also let out a breath as he replied, "Just a few days... you two are the first to know."

Just then, Lily walked by, and Remus froze again. "Did you hear..." She smiled kindly at him; he was her favourite Marauder after all. "Yes, everything. I'm happy for you both." The newly revealed couple watched her leave, a grateful smile adorning their faces, and, at least for a little while, everything was alright.
