The Aftermath
Aira had traveled for a day and night, looking for any signs of survivors, hoping and preying that someone made it. She fell down under a tree ready to give up. "I cant.........." she said laying her head down. Suddenly she heard voices coming closer, she slid down into bushes trying to hide. Paw steps came closer and closer, she preyed that the scent of the bush would hide her. She suddenly herd a familiar voice. "oh come on, im not giving up, Aira could've survived" said a female voice. "yes, but its a slim chance, We all know she's not exactly the strongest fighter, you of all people would know that, Terra" said a male voice. "have some faith, Frost" said another. Aira gasped. *its them!!* she thought. She jumped yelling Terra's name, out despite her hurt leg, tumbling over Terra. Suddenly Arashi attacked he, pushing her off Terra. "w-wait!!! it m-me!!! Aira!!!!!" she yelled as he prepared to attack. Arashi stopped as her saw her. "Aira!!!!!!!!!! your alive!!!" cried Terra as she hugged her. "thank goodness your all ok!! I was so scared! I woke up by the river and.....and every one was....they were" stammered Aira, filled with joy to the point tears where falling. Terra stopped her. "we know, the thing that matters right now is that your safe, Are you hurt?" said Terra, checking her. Aira back away from her. "n-no.....just....shocked" she said. Arashi sniffed her. "your back leg is hurt, come on, lets get you back to the others" he said and led them back to the other juvenile wolves.
After they met back they all sat and treated wounds, ate, but importantly they discussed their plan. we should go back and attack them!!" a few said. A few more broke out into an argument. Terra stood up and howled, make them all quiet. "now, since I am the one wit most training and the daughter of the alpha...". That's all Aira herd before she turned away. She felt extreme guilt or killing her father, she knew he could never tell them. She walked down to the river and sat for awhile. By the time the sun was about to set, Arashi padded down and sat next to her. "hey Aira, I...uh......im sorry for attacking you, I thought you were one of the wolves who attacked" he said awkwardly. Aira shyly laid her head down and said shyly "yes, its ok........". Arashi sat and awkwardly watched the water. "are you doing fine? your leg is hurt" he said sniffing her leg. Aira pulls it away. "yes.......im fine.....". Arashi didn't ask her why she was so quiet, she was always like that. He put his head next to hers and said softly "hey Aira, look at me please". Aira turned and looked at his bright eyes shyly. "if you ever need anything, come to me, ill help you" he said, he then gave a playful lick on her ear and turned away to walk up the hill. Aira looked up at the rising moon. She sighed and said "oh dad, if you didn't make it, at least you'll be happy with mom". She got up and walked up the hill and joined the others, hoping that somehow they could agree on a plan..........without bloodshed.
Aira laid in the makeshift den that night, tossing and turning. In her mind a scene played. Aira, being a pup at the time, was being carried in the jaws of her mother, trees falling all around them. Aira actually felt terror like a claw slashing through her small body, despite it being a dream. Suddenly she went flying, her mother had let go of her. She tumbled down, landing a few meters away from her mother. Aira opened her eyes and saw her mother, crushed under a falling tree. She ran to her, crying, and tried to lift the log but her small wolf body wasn't enough. Her father came out if the woods and looked at his mate, crushed under the tree. He simply picked up Aira and started to walk away. Aira cries out in a scared, high pitched voice "wait, NO!!!! we cant leave her!!! we have to help!!!!". Then her vision swept into darkness. The last she saw of the dream was skull's glowing eyes and evil smile. She jumped awake in s cold sweat. She looked around, making sure she woke no one, then stepped out of the den. She walked over to sit at the edge of the hill, the full moon floating across a dark sky. Aira herd a sound and spun around, teeth bared. "Wait it's me Terra" said Terra. "Oh sorry, I thought you were someone else " Aira said then sat down. Terra sat next to her and said "what at you doing up so late at night". "Oh well I had a bad dream....." Aira answered, her voice trailing off. Terra sighed. "Let me guess, it was the one about your mother" said Terra. Aira just looked away in response. Terra wrapped her tail around her, giving her comfort. "If she was here, she would be so proud of you, you know I'm here for you" Terra said. Aira looked at her and smiled. "I know, Terra. Hey want to hunt? I mean the Suns already coming up, and I'm hungry" said Aira, hoping around playfully. Terra laughed. "Your always hungry" she said, flicking Aira over the nose with her tail. "Yea but standing here isn't going to help it, let's go" said Aira. She sniffed around the ground and caught the scent of squirrel and fallowed it. Terra went off in another direction, tracking a mouse. Aira followed the scent to a tall tree. A fat squirrel sat underneath it, nibbling a nut, not aware of the skilled hunter sneaking up. She crouched down and stilled her movements. Like a snake she slid through the undergrowth. When she was as close as she could get she waited. *3........2..........1.......NOW!!!* she thought and with a powerful jump she leaped out of the bush. As she jumped, she felt a searing pain in her hind leg. She landed clumsily on the squirrel. She quickly sat up and nipped the back of its neck, killing it. As she picked it up, Terra came out of the bushes laughing with a mouse dangling in her mouth. "Wow, if your hunting skills have gotten that bad then we might have trouble when winter comes" she bellowed. Aira's fur grew hot with embarrassment. She was the best hunter out of all the juvenile wolves, this was her worst catch yet. "I-it's not my fault, my l-leg buckled underneath m-me" she stuttered. Terra padded up and sniffed her leg. "It's fine, you just need to take it easy. You know the most about them, isn't there a herb that can help?" She asked. Aira nodded. "Usually a daisy and oak leaf political could help, but it's so early in spring that any daisies would still be flower buds" she explained, walking over to a bush. She jumped into it. Terra looked confused. "What are you doing" she asked. Aira popped her head out of the bush, her jaws full of leaves. "Oak leaves" she said around the herbs. She hopped out and shook the leaves off her fur. She laid then down and took a few and started chewing them. After awhile of chewing she spit the ointment onto her paw. "Ew you have to eat that?" Said Terra, observing her herb political. "No I do this" Aira answered and turned and spread the medicine on her flank. Terra wrinkled her nose. "Gross" she said. Aira laughed. "We should get back, the others will be awake" said Aira. Terra nodded, picked up her prey, and led Aira back to the dens.
