Nineteen

The next day, Moonlightgrowl came up to me and told me,
"Fate brought you here and you fulfilled the 'prophecy' of doing an ex machina in our favour. However the time has now come to leave the forest."
I shook my head adamantly.
"No, that can't be right. I'm part of this magic forest now, it's my home!" I complained but Moonlightgrowl answered,
"Don't worry though, Skye. You will return, when we are in need. Fate will bring you back one day, like it brought you here." I looked at Moonlightgrowl and saw he was being honest.
"I'll leave soon, so I want to say goodbye first." I announced, putting my magic stone in my pocket and grabbing my new bow. I found Franky and thanked him for being a great friend and said goodbye to Fanfare, Shadowberry, and just about everyone there, even the mocking she-wolves who had once been nasty to me. After that, I found Growler again. Looking at him, there was something I wanted to do. I dropped down onto my knees and hugged Growler.
"Thank you for being a brilliant leader who accepted me." I told him, with tears in my hazel-brown eyes.
"Such flattery." Growler mumbled but really I knew he was pleased I'd said that. Growler licked me lovingly before I stood up and walked away with my bow, arrows and stone. I wandered further into the forest, gazing at the tall pines and the oak, beech and silver birch trees peppered around the woods. I was tying up the laces on my muddy trainers when something hurtled towards me and grabbed my shirt collar. I screamed as the thing dragged me along the forest floor roughly. I couldn't fight the creature, as if I did, I'd be at risk of strangling myself. The creature dragged me for a long while before it reached the entrance to the forest and flung me out of the woods. I turned around just in time to see a long, slender, boxer-dog-like hound race back into the shadowy corners of the magic forest. It was the same hound who'd dragged me into the forest 2 months ago. My clothes were caked with mud and my hair was greasier than a plateful of chips, but for once I didn't care.

My adventure in the forest had been worth it.

I strolled away back to my house, carrying my magic rock and bow and arrows, wondering when I'd next be launched into an adventure.

The End
