Song lifted her nose to the air and inhaled. Her eyes opened with alarm, and she growled softly. Turning to her mate, Thunder, she barked "Something's coming. Something bad. Grab Berry and Storm."

Thunder gave a rough nod, his ears perking up alertly, and reached down to nudge Berry's soft, pinkish fur. "Up." he barked quietly, then turned to his son, Storm, whose Yellow eyes were focused on the horizon, on the far away mountains. Storm had always been an odd one, but Thunder suspected that some day his son would do great things.

"Storm. We need to go." Song's blue eyes locked onto Storm's golden ones, and he nodded reluctantly. Song's eyes darted around nervously, as a tremor went through the ground. Sheparding her two little ones and her mate out, she threw back her head and howled into the night, a clear, crisp sound that resounded across the valley.

Quickly, her pack mates assembled, and as one, they slunk away from their camp and towards the distant mountains.

Where they would be safe.

Another tremor passed through the ground, and Storm's large worried eyes turned one last time towards his home, which was growing farther and farther by the minute. He knew what was coming. It had happened to them before. Soon, the earth would swallow up his home, and all that would be left was a shattered land.

That was why they were heading towards the mountains, towards a distant valley. There, hopefully the terror that had hunted his family for months would dissapear.
