Have you ever felt like slapping someone because they just wouldn't shut up?

The need to sleep was abruptly changed when I heard Leon shouting to the person he was talking to on the phone. As soon as we had reached the university we parted ways, me going to my dorm to unpack and get ready for the classes that I had tomorrow.

Leon went to the meeting he had arranged for when we were on the airplane to our way back. Both of us were busy catching up on everything we had missed. All the work I had missed was given to me by one of the werewolves who was doing the same courses as me. According to the werewolf, Leon didn't want me to worry about such minor problems especially since there were more pressing issues right now that needed to be dealt with right away.

I had gone to bed unusually early since I wanted to be fresh for my first day, but my sleep was quickly snatched away from me when Leon came back to the dorm shouting at the person he was talking to on the phone.

I tried to ignore the shouting by covering my ears with my pillow and pulling the blanket over myself even though it was boiling hot. I even went as far as putting my earphones on, with the pillow and blanket still covering me. Finally, I gave up and groggily switched my phone on to see that it was midnight. I blinked my eyes in surprise. I got up from my bed even though my body was saying otherwise. I put on my robe and walked towards the living room.

Leon was pacing back and forth in his costly suit. The top buttons of his shirt were unbuttoned and his tie was loosely hanging from his neck. His hair was ruffled in all directions because of all the times he ran his hand through them. He stopped pacing when he noticed me leaning on the wall. Beads of sweat were running down his face, proving my suspicions that he had been working nonstop since we had come back.

"Listen I can't have an argument with a person who cannot listen to me. I am giving you one day to send it or else I will take by force and trust me when I say that it will be a gruesome fight. No- excuse me! Who do you think you're to be making such claims! You have a job to fulfill if you cannot fulfill, if you can't do what is expected if you then you are free to quit, as it is a free world, isn't it? It's also a world where people are murdered and their murderers are never found and a world where anybody can find anybody if they have the correct resources," Leon paused for a second before continuing, "One day, or else consider yourself dead." With that, he cut the call. He let out a loud sigh in relief.

"I am sorry if I woke you up. I didn't realize I was talking so loudly."

"It is alright. What was all that about? Was it important?"

"It is an ancient book that explains what a Defesta is. There are only three copies in the world that contain this information. One of them is owned by a mysterious owner, which we still haven't found. The second one is owned by one of the rouge groups that live in small islands around the globe, and the third book is owned by a well-respected man in the werewolf community."

"I thought you said you had a friend that had experienced the same things as me."

"There are two types of Defesta, one where the Defesta possesses your body and you are almost caged in your body. The other type is when it can control things around you, like your family and friends but it can't harm you in the beginning stages but as the person grows older, Defesta also grows with therefore there comes a point where the Defesta is stronger than the person and kills him or her. The first type of Defesta occurs more often than the second type and it is also easier to 'rescue' the person possessed."

"Your friend had the first type, right?" Leon nodded. "I have the second type don't I?" Leon nodded again.

"I am meeting with the council tomorrow to talk about how we are going to destroy the Defesta that is haunting you but Ashley don't get close with anyone, don't touch anybody, don't go out to eat with anybody and try to sit away from everybody during class and lunchtime. I can be the only person who you won't have to avoid." Leon wrapped his arms around me, engulfing into a hug. His breath fanned against my neck.

"Won't you get hurt?" I asked pulling my head away from his neck. Our faces were close enough to let our noses touch each other's briefly but were far enough so that our lips weren't touching.

"It will be harder for harm to come to me. I have been burned by the-" He was cut off by his phone ringing. He pulled away from the hug and let out a loud sigh when he saw who was calling him.

"Go to sleep. This is going to be a long chat. We can talk in the morning." I nodded my head in understanding and mouthed a good night to him. I went back to bed the second time in one night, but this time I was dreading tomorrow.

"Did you even bother taking a break and sleeping last night?" I asked, glancing at the dark circles under Leon's eyes.

"I think I slept at two o'clock and woke up at five o'clock."

"That is only three hours of sleep!"

"Yes, it is. Why do you sound so shocked?"

"You should be getting at least seven hours of sleep if not more!"

"Sleeping wastes precious time; time which could be used to save your precious life."

"At the rate, you are going, you aren't going to be able to save either of us."

"I have gone without sleep for three days in a row. This is nothing."

"Did you know lack of sleep damages your brain?" I said, crossing my arms over my chest.

"I am smart enough to damage my brain a little."

"Say that when you are lying on the hospital."

"I will." Leon grinned at me. Even though I was trying not to smile, I couldn't help myself especially since this was the first time Leon was smiling because of a good laugh.

I snapped out of my daydream when my phone started ringing. I pulled it out to see Julie was calling me. I nervously accepted the call, not sure how was going to tell her that I wasn't going to be able to hang out with her for a while.
