Chapter Forty-four
Chapter Forty-four
"You need to go." He whispered. I touched his arm, and I screamed when my fingers didn't go through his body. If my fingers had gone through then I would have known he was a ghost, but he felt completely real- too real.
I wanted to ask him so many questions such as what he was doing here, but I couldn't help but stare at him in wonder. It had been ten years since I had last seen him; spoken to him. The only thing that reminded me of him, were the pictures we had taken together. I used always long for him- especially after his death when I walked in the park and saw siblings racing after each other. We were two years apart, but he used to always like he was older than me. Whenever someone made fun of me or left me out, he always came to rescue me. I never minded. it just showed me how much he cared for me.
"Go to Leon." My brother- Warin, glances at me for a second before looking down towards the ground.
I wanted to go to Leon, but I also didn't want to leave him. How could I? I hadn't seen him in years. I wanted to remind him, of how much I loved him and how much I missed him. I wanted to tell him about how my life has been so far. I wanted to tell him everything, but at the same time nothing came out.
"What are you doing here? How are you here? Aren't your supposed to be dead?"
Once I asked one question, I couldn't help but ask a few others as well.
"Leon needs you."
"Please! Don't leave me again!" I reached out to grab him again, but he stepped. Again and again, until he was a safe distance away from me.
"I can't lose you again, not when I just found you."
"Leon needs your help. Go to him." Warin said, ignoring my statement.
"How can I find him when I am here? Where am I?" I looked side to side to figure out where I was, but I couldn't come up with anything.
"This is all in your head Ashley. Just think of waking up in your hospital bed and then you will wake up. You need to find Leon before he is truly gone."
"How can I just leave you?"
"I'm always going to be there." Warin points to my heart and gives me small smile.
"I love you. Please don't ever forget that."
"I love you too." I closed my eyes after his statement and did what he told me to do. After a few seconds, I opened my eyes to the bright light of the hospital. I looked around but saw that there was no one here. I slowly started getting up, and when I felt no pain, I got up faster.
I put my hands around my neck to feel my bruises but felt there were none there. I yelped when I snatched the IV plug from my arm. Holding the throbbing part of my hand, I got off the bed and headed to the attached bathroom. I pulled my dress from the top to look at my bruises m, but saw none. I pushed the skin, where it was bruised and it didn't pain. Making sure for the second time, that my eyes weren't playing tricks on me, I looked again but I came up with the same conclusion.
Warin's words' were repeated in my mind. I would figure out what happened to my bruises after I found Leon.
I left the bathroom and looked around the room for some clothes. Thankfully I found some and put them on. When I opened the door to go out, I was met with a large arm which blocked the door.
"I am sorry miss, but I am ordered to not let you out of your room." The man moved his arm from the door and replaced it with his body. I had to crane my neck upwards to look at him in the eyes. His hair was short at the back but long at the front, causing a shadow to form on his face. He barely had any facial hair, making him seem less scary. His eyes were a mixture of gold and yellow.
"Who are you ordered by?
"By Rawer, mam."
"I outrank Rawer and I order you to take me to my parents' house." The man blocking the door, looked alarmed for a second as if he couldn't believe that I had just said that.
"You don't have your passport with you." I knew what the man was trying to do and I knew that I didn't have time to waste.
"Don't werewolves work at the airport?"
"Yes, but-" I interrupted him, predicting his future words.
"I am quite sure you can sort that part out. You have a duty to your King and I know of a way to save him, but I need your help." The man looked torn- he wasn't sure what to do. "Unless you don't support Leon as King." I craned my head to the side to look at him.
"I support my King. There's no doubt about that."
"Help me then. Please." The man stared at me for a few seconds then nodded his head at me, causing me to breathe a sigh of relief. He moved away from the door and looked side to side to check to see if the coast was clear.
"Follow me." I didn't need any other instruction. With long strides, we headed until we reached the end of the corridor where we found the fire escape stairs. The man pushed through the fire escape doors and waited for me to enter through the door. Once I was in, we were running down the stairs. When we reached the ground floor, we lowered our heads and used our hands to cover the front of our faces. Soon we were climbing into the man's car and were headed to the airport.
