Chapter Eleven

The sound of rattling keys woke me up. Leon must have come back. I quickly threw the covers off me and got out of bed. My mind worried of seeing Leon with injuries. I walked to the living room to see Leon putting down his keys. Leon looks over his shoulder to meet my eyes. He turned body fully so that he was facing me.

"I was so worried about you!" I exclaimed, walking over to him and embracing him in my arms. I hugged him tightly. My worries of him quickly faded away.

"Haha, I am fine, see no injuries," Leon said showing me his arms and legs. As I checked him over I saw that he has taken a shower. I could smell the strong scent of his deodorant.

"Thanks from your concern though."

"What happened out there? Where there any wolves?" I asked changing the subject.

"Yes, there were," Leon said without a trace of fear.

"Then why did you stay there? You could have been hurt!"

"Many of us in this university have encountered with wolves before so we know how to control them."

"Control them?" I asked with confusion. My mind darts around trying to find an answer for my question but all I get is nothing. Is there even a way to control wolves?

"Yes control them. Now enough about what happened. Tell me something about you," Leon said changing the subject.

"What about me?"

"Where did you live before you came here and do you have any siblings?"

"I have no siblings and I used to live in Peaceville," I said, following him as he walked to the kitchen.

"Peaceville?" Leon asked me raising an eyebrow.

"Yes. What about you? Where are you from?"

"Alaska. Have you ever gone there before?"

"My parents have, but I haven't had the chance to."

"I'm sure you'll go sometime." He said it in assurance, though in the back of my mind I'm wondering why he is so sure about that. "It's cold but beautiful."

Silence filled the kitchen as Leon made himself tea. The only sounds you could hear was the clanking metal sound of the spoon mixing the tea.

"Did you hear about the storm?" I asked him, breaking the silence.

"Yes. Lots of damage. I-" Leon is interrupted by a sound. Ding dong ding dong.

"What is that?" I asked confused. Why was the sound so loud?

"I had someone put a bell on the dorm, in case we don't hear the knocking," Leon said nonchalantly. I raised my eyebrows in surprise.

"Oh okay. Are we even allowed tha-" I am interrupted by the sound of the bell ringing again.

"I will go get," I said. Not waiting for Leon to answer I quickly walked the door. I opened the door to come face to face with a black haired woman.

"Hi can I help you?" I asked politely leaning against the door frame. Even though I was mad at her for ringing the annoying bell again I could not help but think that I would do the same thing.

My eyes wandered around to see where the bell was put. A small black square caught my eye. It was a bell that you just have to push the button. "Hi. Is Leon in there?' she answered back politely.

"Okay just hold on a second," I said giving her small smile. As I turned around to call Leon I bump into a hard chest. I groaned in pain. I rubbed my nose to stop the stinging pain that was spreading across my face.

"Sorry," Leon muttered, "Jasmine! What are you doing here?" Leon has a surprised look on his face. I turned my body to look at Jasmine who had her arms behind her back in a formal manner.

"I am sorry if I bothered you but I need to talk to you, privately," she added when both Leon and I did not move.

"I will leave you guys to talk, I need to go anyways," I said backing away towards my bedroom.

"Where are you going?" Leon asked me with concern written all over his face.

"I am meeting Julie by the café."

"What time will you be back?"

"I don't know. Don't wait up for me," I said closing my bedroom door shut. Why did I say the last part? It's not like he would have stayed up anyway. I swiftly change my clothes and take my small handbag. I opened the door and walked to the where Leon and Jasmine were standing. Jasmine, who had inside was now standing beside Leon. It looked like they were both having a heated conversation which I had interrupted.

"Bye," I said to both of them.

"Bye," both of them said.

"Ashley, wait!"

"Yes?"

"I can't do the cafe date. Rain check? I'll make it up to you sometime."

"Of course, I get it." Even though inside I didn't.

With that, I walked towards the café. My mind wondered about Jasmine. Was she related to Leon? Why was she asking for Leon? Were they in a relationship?

I shook my head to clear all the thoughts that were swarming in my head. As I neared the café I saw that many people had gone to their dorm rooms. Many of the people that were still roaming around were in a group with their friends. Loud laughter could be heard from them.

As I entered the café I spotted Julie sitting by the window alone. Julie was looking out the window. Her hair was set free and covering half her face.

"Hi," I said pulling the chair opposite her.

"Hi," Julie said back softly, not glancing at me. Her hands are joined together lightly on the table.

"Hi I am Valentine and I will be your waiter for today. Here are the menus," the waitress said handing us both the café menu. "When you are ready to order just call me over."

I open the menu to see all types of cakes and teas. Not a single word was said by Julie. I sighed softly and put the menu down. I raised my head to look at Julie but all I saw was an empty seat. My heartbeat rose at the thought of Julie abandoning me. Something inside me told me that Julie had not left by her own will.

I abruptly stand up, my chair making a loud scraping noise. I searched the café but I couldn't see Julie anywhere. Not caring about the people standing by the doorway, I pushed passed them and into the hallway. Not knowing if I should turn left or right I listened to my gut and turned right.

As I walked deeper down the left hallway, there were fewer students. After a few seconds I again came to dead end but this time there were two doors on either side. I cautiously walked to the left door. I turned behind me to see that the nearest students were very far away.

My heart beats loudly against my chest. My hands becoming sweaty from the anticipation. My lips pressed together. I took a deep breath and pulled the doorknob.
