The Last Dance☽39☾

Just thought the song would be nice for the dancing scene later on.

Rebekah, Elijah, and Klaus sat around the dining table in the Mikaelsons home. They were finally having a conversation about the cure Elijah held- he himself acting as judge for the fate of the red liquid.

"Elijah, being a human means a fresh start." Rebekah told him. Her blue eyes looking upon her brother, pleading with him to see how much this meant for his little sister. "I can grow old and have a family and fill my days with meaning, knowing that each one matters."

Klaus laughed at her pleas. "Well, that was poetic." He mocked.

"Well, if you can provide us with a more compelling reason for wanting the cure, Klaus, please." He motioned for him to try his case.

"Silas can appear as anyone." The hybrid started. "He got inside my thoughts, convinced me I was dying. He will torment me until I give him the cure."

"And in doing so he will break down the wall to the Other Side." The blonde Original argued.

"So it doesn't trap him there when he dies. He wants to reunite with his lost soulmate." Hoping to bite into Elijah's hopeless romantic side, he looked at him and said, "you of all lovesick fools should applaud his devotion."

"He will open the floodgates for every supernatural being that has ever died." Rebekah told him again, hoping to get it through her brothers thick head.

"Including our dear brothers, Kol and Finn. We'll have our family back. And Bel will be happier."

"Please, you hated Kol and you kept Finn in a box for most of his life." Rebekah retorted. "And don't try to fool us, Nik. We all know you'd rather have our parabatai all to your selfish little self."

"Elijah, please." Klaus begged, his thoughts going back to when Silas put him through that pain and showing up as his parabatai.

"Your personal discomfort might not be sufficient reason for putting the entire world in jeopardy, Klaus. And from what I understand Isabella has come to an understanding that her friends wouldn't want to come back at the risk of everyone else being unleashed. And I think our sister deserves a shot at happiness."

"Tell me you're joking." Klaus asked in disbelief. "Tell me you're not fating me to an eternity of torture."

"I made my decision." Elijah told them. His face telling Klaus more then words that Rebekah won over their brothers soft heart.

Klaus swiftly stood up, throwing Rebekah a mean glare as he clenched his fist in anger and walked out.

Caroline checked herself inside a store mirror when trying on a dress accompanied by Bonnie and Isabel. With the former talking to them about these weird dreams she was having.

"What kind of dreams?" Isabel asked Bonnie.

"Usually I'm at his grave and all of a sudden, he appears to me," she said reffering to Jeremy.

Caroline talked while inspecting herself in a three-way mirror. "Well, you never got to say goodbye, Bon. You're grieving, that's normal."

"When I woke up, the couch was on fire." Isabel quietly slipped away trying to find a dress of her own while she answered Klaus' call.

"I'm kind of busy, Nik. What is it?" She asked shuffling through some pink dresses.

"Elijah has the cure and he wants to give it to Rebekah leaving me to suffer Silas' torment."

"And what do you want me to do?"

"Talk to Rebekah. Maybe she will listen to you."

"I don- you know what? Sure. I'll try. Doesn't mean it will happen." She then grabbed the dress that caught her eyes and ended the call.

"Um, you look super hot, by the way," Bonnie told Caroline.

"You think?" Caroline asked looking over her pure white dress that flowed down to her ankles and had some gold embroidery around the neck.

"Oh yeah."

Caroline smiled saying, "yeah. Hey Izzy! Have you found anything?"

The dress she had taken didn't appeal to her within a few moments of looking at it and she put it back. "Nope!" She called back. After giving up on finding her own dress she walked back to her friends.

"You know what Izzy, you'll find something and I bet Matt and I are gonna have the sexiest dates there." Bonnie admitted. They all giggle with each other.

"You know what, I love friend-prom." Izzy admitted. "And it's exactly what prom should be- friends having fun and making memories."

"Yep." Bonnie replied.

"Mhm." Caroline agreed.

"Yes, it sucks that I won't have an actual date for once, but the four of us are gonna have the night of our lives." Isabel told them with a hopeful smile.

"I'm gonna see if I can find another one for you," Bonnie said.

"Good luck."

"Okay. Here." Bonnie handed over a beautiful silky red gown.

"Oh, Bonnie it's beautiful," Isabel said touching it before looking up at the witch. "Thank you!" Isabel went into one the rooms and got dressed. She looked down to see it fit her perfectly. She walked out and twirled a bit. "How do I look?" She grinned at their expressions.

"You look amazing!" Caroline gushed. "It matches your skin tone and everything." She glanced at her reflection and admired it.

"We are so gonna look hot at the prom," Bonnie said.

The door jingles as someone entered the shop. Caroline looked up and her smile faltered when she saw Elena and Rebekah enter the store.

"Hey, Bonnie. Heard you got your mind wiped- that sucks. Pretty dress, Caroline," Elena said.

"I know. You helped me pick it out months ago when we were friends- before you tried to kill me."

"I thought it looked familiar," Elena said with a mischievous look in her eyes. "Yours looks really pretty too, Izzy."

Isabel turned to the store clerk ignoring Elena and asked, "can you press these for me and my friend? I'll pick it up later. Bonnie, Caroline?"

They go back to the fitting room while Elena watched them with a sly look on her face.

Klaus stood and stared at the fireplace when Isabel's voice calls to him but he doesn't respond.

"Nik? Nik?? Nikla-" She finally entered the room and sees him. "Hello? Did you not hear me. I thought I was loud enough for your old vampire hearing."

"Of course I heard you, Bel. I think the whole of Mystic Falls heard you." Klaus responded. "I'm in no mood for company."

"Well, I'm sorry that you're having family issues, but I have a real crisis on my hands. I can't find a freaking prom dress!" Klaus finally turned and faced her.

"Elena stole my dress and then I had went with Caroline and Bonnie everywhere trying to find a new dress that I like but they all made me look weird or isn't my color or I was to tan or to light or to fat. I don't have anything." She stressed as she gave Klaus a significant look but he doesn't respond. "Hello mister hybrid?" Klaus started laughing at her.

"It is so not funny!" She exclaimed but her lips quirked up a little.

"No, I know, I know." He replied lightly laughing.

"Then stop laughing! Look, I know that prom isn't important to you, but it's important to me and my friends."

"Well, surely finding a dress isn't that hard. I for one think you look good in everything."

Isabel frustrated, turned on the spot. "Oh, but I don't want to just 'look good.'" She faced Klaus again. "I wanna look hot. So...could you please go back into your little trophy case of family collectibles and dig me out something of royal caliber? Pretty please with a pearl on top." She batted her eyelashes.

"I'll see what I can do." He resigned.

The werewolf smiled at him winningly, and Klaus smiled back, clearly still amused.

Isabel walked down into the living room to see Klaus and Elijah. They both turned around to see her in a light pinkish purple off the shoulder fishtail dress with purple detailing from the top of her chest to her mid thigh were it stopped and flared out into purple netting, the top part of the dress hugging her curves in all the right ways. The front side part of her hair was pulled into a braid that wrapped around her whole head like a crown while the rest lay in waves.

"How do I look?" She asked holding her hands out slightly as she slowly walked down the steps.

"You look-" Elijah started.

"Absolutely stunning." Klaus interrupted his brother, noticing Isabel's cheeks start to flush as she stopped in front of the two.

"Okay." She breathed out smiling. "I should probably go now. It started about a ten minutes ago."

"Do you need a ride?" Klaus asked.

"No. I'll be fine. And thanks. Again." Klaus leaned in and pecked her cheek. She blushed hurriedly looked away before heading to the front door.

"Isabella." The said girl turned around to see current oldest Mikaelson had followed her.

"Oh. Hey Lijah."

"I just wanted to say you look beautiful."

"Thanks. But I really must go. Caroline's certainly going to bite my head off if I'm anymore late."

"A Queen is never late, everyone else is simply early."

"I can't believe you just said that." Isabel laughed at him.

≪≫•≪≫•≪≫

Isabel smiled as she walked in to see her classmates enjoying themselves up until Elena approached her in the dress Bonnie chose for her.

"So how do I look?" Elena asked smugly.

"I can lie if you want. But since you don't seem to care...you don't look great and the new hair-do is a no go." Elena glared but the blonde werewolf wasn't done. "Oh, you were talking about the dress you stole because you didn't have the ability to get your own. My bad. Look at you being all evil knievel stealing a dress. If you're running for villian of the century, you certainly aren't anywhere close to winning."

"Isabel, why don't you come get a drink with me, hm?" Stefan asked noticing the blonde werewolf edging closer to the humanity-less vampire.

Isabel hurriedly followed Stefan to the table of drinks, leaving Elena looking rather annoyed.

"I know you said to kill her with kindness, but can't I just kill her?" Isabel asked frustrated with the humanity-less vampire. She glanced at the brunette who stood with the blonde Original and groaned. Of course Rebekah liked to hang around this version of the doppleganger. "Please?"

Stefan smiled instead of answering. "I see you finally found a dress." He told her. "You look beautiful."

The wolf girl looked back up at the green-eyed vampire. "It's from Klaus." Isabel admitted.

"Mm?" He rose an eyebrow.

"Don't ask. Please."

"You know you have him wrapped around your little finger, right?" He mused.

"Let's not talk about that." Isabel took a sip of her drink before making a small 'hmm!' and asking, "so are you making any progress with the dress thief?"

"I don't know." Stefan admitted with a frown. "I think it's affecting me a lot more than it's affecting her."

"What do you mean?" Isabel asked as she poured herself more to drink and turned to the dancing humans.

"Every time I tell myself that I'm moving on, there's this part of me that just can't seem to shake her." He confided in her.

"I'm pretty sure that's normal, Stefan," she said as she rubbed his arm soothingly. "You guys were in love, and that doesn't go away just because you declare that you're moving on. Trust me."

"Well, then how does anyone ever seem to move on?" He asked staring at her intently.

"Honestly?" Isabel asked. Stefan nodded and she continued. "I don't know. I think that someday, you'll meet someone new and you'll fall madly in love, and you'll have moved on without even realizing it."

Without meaning to she was talking about both herself and him. Both would find themselves moving on without seeing it themselves and they'll be happier then they ever were before.

"What if Elena was the one?" Stefan asked. "What if I can't move on from her?"

"She was, and she will always be an epic love. But contrary to popular belief, there are actually multiple ones. Elena will always have a place in your heart but there is someone out there waiting for you. I can guarantee you that." She smirked slightly as a thought ran through her head. "And I have a feeling you'll have no problem in finding the girl of your dreams. I mean look at you."

Stefan's normal brooding face dropped and he smiled at the wolf. He held his hand out to her and she looked at him with a raised brow. "Would you, Ms. Donovan, do me the honor and dance with me?"

"I thought the Stefan Salvatore didn't dance?"

"I can make an exception." She raised a brow. "So would you?"

"An actual dance?" She asked in amusement. "Of course Mr. Salvatore." She smiled brightly, placing her drink down and taking his hand and following him to the dance floor.

He spun her into his arms and she giggled slightly, her hands landing on his chest and his hands going to her waist.

"So you do have the moves." She commented. The first time they danced it wasn't a slow song and this was the first time she actually got to see his more formal dancing. His more intimate way of holding a girl.

"I, uh, learned over the years. I guess."

"What between all those ripper binges?" She asked with a head tilt. He spun her in a circle before she came back in. "Kidding." She wrapped her arms around the vampires neck as they continued to sway to the song.

"Thanks for the talk Isabel. And I'm sorry for the way I acted when I had no humanity." He apologized but she waved him off with a roll of her eyes.

"No problem Stef. Besides if Caroline's to be your sober coach I'm going to see a lot more of you. And no apologies. I understand the whole no humanity thing is a bit of a bitch."

"You have no idea."

The two continued to dance, enjoying having a little quiet time to theirselves and just before the song ended Isabel looked up from Stefan's shoulder. "This was a nice get away. Thank you for taking me away. Especially after I couldn't find Bonnie, Caroline or Matt."

"Anytime."

She was about to respond but with a look over his shoulder she spotted Rebekah alone without Elena by her side. "Listen I have to talk to Rebekah-"

"Go on." Stefan let go of her and nodded to Rebekah. "I think Elena is starting up trouble anyway."

Isabel gave him a sympathetic look before walking over to Rebekah.

"On behalf of your brother I wanted to ask you about the cure." Rebekah scoffed and was about to walk away but Isabel stopped her. "Why do you want it so badly?"

Deciding to talk to her about it, she said, "I want to be human again." She hoped her parabatai would be able to talk to her brother and convince him to give up the argument.

"But how do you know that being human is truly what you want? Somethings that you want to change won't change when you become human. It will still be there when you wake up."

"You're probably right. But I don't care. I want to live the simple life." She told her earnestly. "I want it to end when my human body decides for it to end. I've have lived 20 lifetimes and I'm ready to die as a human."

"I just don't get why you'd want to leave your family behind. And do something that might be irreversible."

"I have lived my life with them for a thousand years. But now I want to live and die as I choose. Have my own family. Grow old with them. And then move on to whatever life has planned for me after death. I'm ready for all that."

"Well you both seem to be set in your vigor for the cure and you both deserve it for each of your reasons. So I won't be getting in the middle of this one unless Elijah needs me help." Just before Isabel left she told her parabatai softly, "even though we may not like each other much. I do wish the best for you." She smiled a little at the Original. "Human or vampire."
