Softening Heart☽34☾

Isabel spent some time with Liz since she was lonely without Caroline and planned to do Kols memorial with Rose but Liz had begged for Rose to stay again so they could spend more time together. Isabel was surprised Liz wanted to spend her day with her baby but decided to let Liz have some company until Caroline came back.
Isabel then proceeded to have Kols memorial after getting Klaus to cough up where he had Kols coffin.
Flashback
She left the front part of the coffin open so she could speak to his body one last time. She hoped he was here with her so he could hear her.
"No one else is able to be here for this but I can't just let you go without putting your body at rest. So here I am," she whispered before clearing her throat. "I even wrote a letter. Pathetic right?" she laughed lamely.
She pulled the card out of her back pocket. "I only knew you for about three months but that was enough to know you had a good heart. You wanted family, love, and acceptance. You were certainly a flirt but you were also fun, nice, charming, and a great friend. I enjoyed our talks." She sighed. "I wish we could've had more though."
She looked up as the tears blurred her vision. "Uh, I wish you peace. And I just wanted to let you know that I'll smile when I remember you. And I promise to tell Rose about you. She'd want to know who her favorite uncle was."
A tear dropped on her paper before she put it away. "I guess that's it." She let out a breath and she pat his chest. "Goodbye Mikaelson."
Over her shoulder, Kol frowned deeply. "Goodbye Donovan."
End
Shortly after she was called by Tyler to bring her laptop to help get the cure for their friends. At first, she was hesitant but he convinced the werewolf that Elena and Rebekah really wanted that cure and she could help them get it.
So she showed up with her laptop in her hands while she walked in the Gilbert home to see Tyler had already made it there with the sword wrapped in a blanket.
"I'm just trying to help my friends find the cure." Tyler answered whatever question Klaus asked as Isabel sat on the couch, and Tyler revealed the sword from the blanket. "Found this in your attic."
"And you think finding the sword brings you closer to the cure?" Klaus questioned the hybrid from his seat on the coffee table.
"You tell me. I was playing around with the handle on the ride over, and I found this," Tyler said, unwrapping the leather on the top of the sword, revealing some sort of turning device.
Klaus got up and walked over to Tyler asking, "and what do you think 'this' is?"
Isabel got up looking proud of herself. "It's called a cryptex." Tyler looked behind himself and at her mildly shocked. "What?" She shrugged. "I've seen The da Vinci Code with Caroline and Matt. You turn the different sides to the different symbols to get the translation on the other side." Tyler turned the handle, watching it change while Isabel turned to the table. "And with the magic of the internet, Elena sent over these." She held up print-outs of Jeremy's tattoo. "So now all we have to do is cryptex away, right?" The wolf sat down again. She looked at Klaus. "But if you so happened to want to help, we certainly wouldn't stop you."
"Right." He smirked, taking up her offer of helping. "Well, might I suggest using the magic of the internet to purchase an Aramaic-to-English dictionary from your nearest retailer."
Tyler turned to Isabel asking, "what's Aramaic?"
Though Isabel and Tyler weren't on the best of terms before his mother's death -or even after- she couldn't bring herself to ignore him completely after what happened with his mom and him trying to save her. She still resented what he did but he had no one but her and Rose now and they could be civil and at least try and act mature.
"It's a dead language. It hasn't been used since, the biblical times." Isabel stated, looking from Tyler to Klaus.
"Qetsiyah's native tongue, I'm guessing. You know, even if you had the best dictionary in the world, it could take days to translate," Klaus said, sitting down. "Perhaps weeks. 'In bas so-teen-too ara-ma-eet.'"
"What's that suppose to mean?" Isabel asked.
Klaus grinned at the blonde. "'If only you spoke Aramaic.'" He mocked her.
She gave him an unamused look and nodded her head and rolled her eyes. "Right."
≪≫•≪≫•≪≫
Isabel had the pictures of Jeremy's tattoo and index cards of the Aramaic symbols lying on the table. She had her computer open and was sitting with Typer behind her.
"Okay, this is it," she said finally, setting her pen down. "We've translated all the symbols on the tattoo." She arranged the cards in order and hunched forward slightly, looking at them. "'Passage inside...requires a young senator and a pretty flower?'" She sighed irritated with the translation. "Okay, none of this makes any damn sense!" Her hand flew in the air slightly to exaggerate her frustration.
"I think we translated it wrong," Tyler said from behind the couch. His two hands rested on the back of the couch just to Isabel's right. She spun around and faced him with a dirty glare and he raised his hands in surrender.
Despite loving the way she looked when she was frustrated and trying so hard to translate the text Klaus decided to help her out. He spoke Aramaic before translating the into English. "'Requires a powerful witch and a hunter in full bloom.'"
"I was close." Isabel muttered, trying to make herself feel better before looking up at Klaus.
"What are you doing?" Tyler asked the hybrid, confused.
"I don't need to tell you my reasons. Bel. Bring my sword over here." Isabel quickly picked the sword up from the table and brought the sword close enough to Nik so that he could read it. "'Silas rests on the far side, the means of his destruction at hand.'" He glanced at the pictures of Jeremy's tattoo on the computer screen. "Turn the cryptex to the right." Isabel obliged. "Stop. The top of the hilt reveals a key to a nautical map. Turn it to the left." She turned the silver piece. "Now turn the other piece." She turned the smaller thinner silver knife looking thing. "Wait. There's something else," Klaus said.
"Well, what is it?"
Klaus spoke in Aramaic again.
"What does that mean?" Klaus smiled at her but doesn't say anything. Knowing he wasn't gonna talk, she gave up. "You are infuriating."
≪≫•≪≫•≪≫
"Hey, it's Isabel," Izzy said as Rebekah answered her phone. "We have the translation of the tattoo. We're emailing you pictures of the map and instructions right now." Isabel tapped the keyboard and sent the email to Rebekah, Stefan, and Caroline.
"Got it. Thanks."
"Actually, it was me." Klaus interrupted.
"Nik, you helped?" Rebekah asked sounding surprised.
"You sound so surprised, little sister." He commented, amused as he paced.
"Shouldn't I be? I mean, you don't want me to be human. You don't want any of us to be human. Why would you help us find the cure?" She said, her tone disbelieving.
"Maybe I finally realized the longer I stand in the way of what you want, the longer you'll continue to hate me. Perhaps I want my sister to finally know happiness."
"Fool me once, shame on you; fool me a hundred times-"
"No more fooling." The hybrid said, cutting her off. "No more games. I hope you get to live -and die- as you wish." He told her sincerely.
Rebekah paused for a moment, taking his words in. "So do I."
Klaus stopped his pacing and he leaned against the far right of the entryway. "There is one more thing, Rebekah." Isabel and Tyler look up at Klaus who spoke quickly, "There is only one dose of the cure." Tyler's eyes widened and he scrambled to pick the phone up at the same time as Isabel. "You need to find it first and take it. It's the only way you'll-" But before he could finish Tyler ended the call.
≪≫•≪≫•≪≫
Isabel followed a frantic Tyler out the house and he started to pace the porch. "If they don't get to that cure first Klaus is gonna kill me," he said starting to get hysterical. "I need to get out of town to figure out how I'm gonna stay alive-"
The werewolf held her hand up to stop him. "Wait, hang on, okay? God! Before you get all doomsday, just- At least let me try and talk to him."
"He's got nothing to lose, Iz. His brother's dead, his hybrids are gone. All he wants right now is blood, starting with mine." The hybrid stressed.
"You can't just leave Rose behind forever, do you understand me?" Tyler looked into her blues eyes and he softened up. "Let me fix this." Tyler nodded at her and she nodded back. "Okay? Okay."
Klaus sat in an armchair in the Gilberts' living room when Isabel opened the front door and walked in.
"You can't kill Tyler," Isabel said softly.
"Not only can I, but I also have to. I have a reputation to uphold. Moreover, I want to."
"I'm not asking you to forgive and forget. All I'm asking is that you let him live, somewhere away from Mystic Falls."
Klaus walked towards the barrier and closer to his parabatai. "So he gets to live a happy life after he turned all my hybrids against me, after he tried to kill me after he made it his life's mission to find the cure so he could use it against me-"
"It's not about you Klaus." The girl snapped back. She sighed and took on a calmer more pleading tone. "I know what he did sounds bad but we have a child that needs him. Alive." She cut in, trying to appeal to the side of the bond that wanted what's best for her and her children.
"You are a wonderful mother. Rose can survive and do just well with you."
"But I can't." She shook her head slightly. "I can't do this alone, Klaus. Don't you see that?"
Klaus stepped even closer to her and used a soft tone on her. "What I see is a capable woman who can handle her own and protect her child no matter what was thrown at her. But I assume you're scared. To scared to see what I see."
She pursed her lips slightly noticing he was distracting her. "Look I know you don't want that cure used on you and I promise Tyler won't use it on you and I will make sure it isn't ever used on you by anyone else if you show Tyler some mercy. Please." She begged.
"You seem so desperate to keep him alive. Very well. Tell him to leave town immediately." He started walking away but turned back. "And tell him to run and hide in a place I will never find him."
"Of course." She turned and walked away, grabbing her cardigan.
"Tell him that this is the mercy I extend only for your sake... and it will not happen again should I see him again."
≪≫•≪≫•≪≫
"Surprisingly I hate saying goodbye to you." She sniffled. The two sat on the porch swing in the darkness with only the porch light illuminating them.
"At least we can do it the right way this time. No booking it, no voicemails..."
"There is no right way, Ty." She shook her head as a tear fell from her face.
"I'll call you and Rose whenever I can. I won't let her grow up without me." He promised her.
"You better not." She sniffled again before wiping the tear away and taking in a deep breath.
"So this is goodbye?" He asked.
"Hopefully not forever." She pulled him into a hug. "As much as I don't like you, I will always love you."
"Take good care of our daughter, Adella." He pulled away and kissed her forehead. "I trust you can do it." He told her watching as she kept her eyes closed. He got up and walked away while Isabel kept her eyes closed, not watching him walk away.
≪≫•≪≫•≪≫
"How did you get out?" Isabel asked as Klaus walked out the door to the Gilberts home.
"I fear something awful has befallen your friend Bonnie." He started to approach her and Isabel just stared off into the distance from her position on the porch swing.
"Sometimes I wonder about you," Izzy said. "You certainly are a complex character. Sometimes you surprise me." She looked up at him as he moved closer. "Sometimes you make me angry. Sometimes you make me sad and others you make me happy. How do you do it?" She asked.
"I try what I can to do right by you. And there are certain times when I can't. But I do a lot of things for you that I wouldn't for others. Kindness, forgiveness, pity..."
They say nothing but stare at each other for a moment. Isabel slowly stood up and wrapped her arms around his waist and leaned her forehead against his chest. Klaus was pleasantly surprised she was willing to hug and once he got over the shock he held her back.
She knew he was the reason Tyler was leaving but she also knew that Klaus only let him leave for her. In his own way he was showing her kindness. Which meant she was getting through to him and softening him up just a bit. And she could really use a hug from the only parabatai that has stayed.
Klaus kissed her hair before resting his head on her shoulder.
Welp. That happened.
I feel like the flashback was a little cringy but whatever.
Also, the way I see it is. Liz adores having Rose over and loves having a baby around. I mean its Rose. Who wouldn't want her? 😂 she's a baby. And not only in the physical sense.
