Chapter 3 Alpha Meets Alpha
We walked down the river and found the Jumping Stones that we used to get across the river. When we got across we went to the barrier of the Eastern Pack to wait for a patrol. At about moon-high a patrol came walking down the edge of their territory. They jerked their heads in our direction and came rushed towards us, their fur on their neck standing on end.
"What are you doing so close to our territory Northern Wolves?" the leader of the patrol growled.
"We wish to speak to your alpha." I said bowing my head respectfully. At first the leader of the patrol just glared at us suspiciously.
"Follow us." The patrol leader said reluctantly. "Saka and Crescent follow in the back." He said to two black she-wolves. We followed them through a few spread out trees then suddenly they were gone and we was met by a big grassland. I heard one of my wolves gasp and remembered that they had never been here. We went to a a ravine hidden by the tall grass. As soon as we entered wolves started appearing out of crevices made into the walls. Some looked scared and other looked angry and some looked curios. We arrived at a cave dug out in the dirt walls. "Wait here." said one of the wolves from the patrols. A moment later the same wolf appeared and said "You may enter."
I started towards the entrance and I heard my wolves trying to follow and turned around and said, "No you cannot enter, this is a meeting between two alpha's stay here and guard the entrance. Understood?"
"Yes alpha." they all said in unison and bowed their heads. As soon as they said that I entered. It took a few moments for my eyes to adjust to the sudden change of light. But once they did I saw a beautiful black she-wolf barely visible in the dark cave. I bowed by head and lowered by body as a show of respect. I heard her do the same. We stayed like that for a few moments in silence. I broke the silence by saying, "Alpha."And what she said really shocked me.
"Please call me Night. We are both alphas here no one else."
I exhaled a blow of relief. I had not yet met the new alpha of the Eastern pack and personally I thought she was going to uptight. "Thank you, and you may call me Moon. I have come here to warn you and to ask for your help."
"Yes?" she said interestingly.
"More and more Print Wolves are being taken and they are getting closer and closer near my territory. And soon they will be close to your territory. Our existence will be wiped clean. We will be gone. I propose an Alpha Meeting."
"And what about the Southern pack. Will they be attending this Alpha Meeting."
"I do hope so Night. The alpha from the Western pack is a friend of mine and he has agreed to visit the Southern pack to see if they will attend. So will you come?"
She sat there for a couple of moments thinking. "I suppose I can attend."
"Thank you so much. It will be held tomorrow night at moon-high at the Sacred Trees. Do you know where that is?"
"Yes, of course. The Sacred Trees are a legend. I shall be there. Can I bring some of by most trusted wolves, for just a precaution. My pack wouldn't like it if I went without protection. Though I doubt I will need."
"Yes of course. But please make sure they are your most trusted wolves."
"Yes, yes of course. Thank you again." And with that I started out of the cave entrance. Once outside I found my wolves standing guard by the entrance. They parted when they saw me coming. I nodded my head to the patrol, "Thank you for letting us come here." They just nodded. "Come lets go home." I said to my wolves.
